What do Gold Stars online mean?

I've seen a few people online with Gold Stars, like it has their rank, and then instead of being inside a clear star it's a gold one...
Does anyone know what it means?

A lighter gold star almost bronze is rank 8 which im at then rank 9 is like a darker white or silver and rank 10 looks orange.

rank 8 = bronze
rank 9 = silver
rank 10= gold
