The controls for this game are so confusing and counter-intuitive, and the instruction manual in my particular case clarifies nothing. I'm told group orders are necessary to grasp in order to beat the game on Admiral, so here I am.

"Target" appears to have a number of meanings in the following (heck, it's used as a verb and a noun), copied out of the instruction manual.

Group Orders
A - change current target to closest target of focus ship
B - clear target
X - target nearest attacker
Y - "fire at will", order grouped ships to fire torpedoes aggressively

I don't even know how these orders are activated. I'm all like .

Am I to understand that simply pressing these buttons while in a group executes these orders? Do I slightly tap or hold down these buttons? Am I supposed to be holding down some other buttons?

If I knew the above, then perhaps the following wouldn't confuse me such.

In my experience, pressing A while having a group selected redirects all the ships to a new destination. Is that what they mean by "target"? Selecting an enemy with A simply directs my ships to fly over, without attacking them.

"B - clear target." What does that even mean? Will my ships kill the enemy and clear the target off the map, or will the target simply be deselected?

"X - target nearest attacker." I'm assuming that they mean for each ship to attack the target respectively nearest to each ship, and not for all the ships to attack the target nearest to the ship you're currently helming, which would be too convenient.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

If you hold right bumber you can select an enemy based on health which is best for admiral because you need to quickly dominate enemies and using the tatical screen is much easier for fleet deployment and the controls are much simplier. Speaking from experience i suggest a alot of play time on captian before admrial thats how i got it on my other GT and i know your pain the controls were very had and confusing
