Greatest GTA Ever and here's why.

It's the Greatest GTA ever simply because I never owned GTA: SA.

Only GTA3 & VC. then at some point before SA came out I stoped playing games

That was till about when Halo 3 was released, and I bought a 360.

And to me it sounds like I'm lucky that I completely skipped GTA:SA just for the fact that when I play GTA4 I don't feel like the game has lost anything, like some people feel.

it was never gonna top san andreas for me. im not saying its bad just a personal preference.

i preferred the free roaming/RPG elements in the game.

If you haven't played San Andreas surely you can't say this is the best.
This is like the guy at school who said Resident Evil 4 was the best simply because he didn't play any others but 3.
Resi 2 was the best, and he hadn't even played it or Zero, Gaiden, Survivor etc...Ugh...

For me i still love the original GTA on the pc.
But yeah i have to agree that GTA IV is the best in the series.

But for the 3D GTA's i have only played GTA San Andreas...
Which soon bored me.. I loved the cothing options and being able to customise some cars... But the whole gang thing annoyed me..
Just driving down a street pleasently, not breaking any laws and suddenly i rival gang would just start shooting at me... That got VERY irritating :mad:

I hope the next GTA is set in London. But not set in the 60's London like the last one was.

Yes, this is the best GTA in every way. But I still enjoyed free roaming in San Andreas. GTA IV wasn't as fun as Vice City or San Andreas, but still better. The taxi thing reminds me of fast travel in Oblivion.

well this GTA is alot better than Vice BUT dont come close 2 S.A only thing over San Andreas is graphically but other than that S.A wins All Day LONG...

San Andreas was crap compared to VC IMO. It drew me away from the series with a lot of it's tedious tasks. Thankfully it's not as bad with GTA IV.

Also the turf wars were terrible in SA, another off-putting addition.

I say this is better then SA...i loved Vice City, and Gt3...and SA was alright..but non the less it was good. GT4 is my fav then comes VICE 3rd is Gt3 and last SA.

Agreed. It's not that I hated SA, it's just that I didn't get into it as much as I did with Vice City and GTA 3. I got 100% in 3 and VC, and in SA I didn't bother.

Vice City was my fav by a long way, definitely the one with most advancments, such as motorbikes and helicopters. Soundtrack was ace too. 2nd for me had to be the original GTA on the PC, even had 3dfx graphics.....happy days!! SA is probably my least favourite out of the series, found it to be chore and only completed because I was off work for two weeks with the mumps

Vice City is probably the best one, what with it's amazing soundtrack and location. San Andreas topped it in some ways, but not others, such as Turf War (almost as annoying as the constant "I need a friend, please talk to me :(" phone calls on GTA IV) and how gangster it tried to be. GTA III blows big time, too much complaints to list with that one. GTA IV is second best for me (maybe joint first, I dunno).

If SA had the Co-Op this game has, improved graphics and a few more features. It would be the best game of all time if it wasn't already.

This game is only 2nd to SA.

I completed 100% of gta3, VC, and gta4. I barely played san andreas at all(maybe 4 hours). I didn't like getting shot by the gangs. I didn't like having to build up my character. I couldn't get into the story. So SA is by far the worst for me.

SA was EASILY the worst GTA game of the series... bought that opening day also and was so dissapointed at how bad it was. I did manage to fight my way through the game and beat it before IV came out, and it did make me like the game better than my previous attempt of playing. But it was just boring and seemed like a chore to finish it. Have not had that problem with any of the other GTA games, so I will agree with the OP that IV is the best of the series.

GTA 3 is my favorite (out of 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. ) I spent months playing it when it first came out and although the sequels may be better overall, this one changed the way I look at games. IV is a different formula from the others so I really don't like comparing it. Just wait for next gen sequels and then there can be real debates.

This game has the best story, in my opinion, followed by Vice City.

I think San Andreas had more potential for free roaming but the story was plain rediculous.

I think unlocking a "MAYHEM" mode in your phone upon 100% completion, where you had a heli w/rockets and RPG, in the same city, would be good fun. The mode could include mini-challenges such as a "one minute kill count" thing, like the old rampages. But it didn't happen :(

The only GTA game I have 100% was SA but my favorite is by far Vice City I would never play another game if they brought out a new Vice City title :D

I agree I enjoyed all of the GTA's, but I liked the RPG side of GTA SA.
- they added new things to GTA IV - and took some things out...

Anyways, it's the best GTA 4 that I have ever played.

I have played GTA:SA but only at a friends house and only doing the races for him, he sucked at driving, I was never into the hole hyped up super hero fake gangster wannabe crap.

All GTA's seemed to do a good job at making a real feeling city with crime, GTA:SA did not feel like any other GTA games to me, it felt big for no other reason then being big... pointless.

san andreas had some "realistic" errors such as the cars instantly stopping on the highway and bullet holes appearing inches away from where you fired your weapon... gta4 really owns at realism

S.A was huge u could even go under water wich adds alot of Map size the only GTA u could go land air sea and under water level...gotta be the best..
