Here is the first released Image of Goku in the upcoming movie "Dragon Ball"

It is supposed to be released April 10th, 2009. So i wonder if this will be any good..I have always been a fan of the Dragon Ball Z series growing up...Hope they can do this justice with real-life action..

Anime was never meant for live-action. The farthest they should've gone with this was 3D, possibly the same graphics as Tenkaichi.

Vo5 sell a gel here in the UK called "Manga Hold" You can make your hair like manga characters using it.. it does work we used it on a friend with long hair... takes ages to do though, you have to apply a wax, then hair dry it then apply the gel.

Garnier also make a brand called "Manga Head" but I have not seen that one used before.

Actually some of the DBZ films hit theaters in Japan but never in the US. That said the original live action DBZ from Japan was attrocious so hopefully they will at least hold true to the DBZ storyline and make it look halfway descent.

Actually, it was made in Taiwan, I believe. And yes, it was atrocious.

Justin Chatwin as Goku? What the hell? I've only seen him in Weeds and War of the Worlds. And in War of the Worlds all he did for the first hour was bitch and complain. And he wasn't even that good in Weeds.

I like Chow Yun Fat, but as Master Roshi? I can't see it.

And no Krillin? He's the one person I could actually picture live action, and the perfect person to play him would be Martin Klebba (Pirates of the Caribbean and Knee High P.I.).

Hey I have to agree that it might not work you would need a massive budget for the amount destruction that should unfold. Plus wont it sound wierd in live action Kamehamehaaaaaa (as a badly CGI laser beam flies out of Gokus hands lol).

I have to say though The japanese have made a few films adapted from anime and manga and they were very good if anyone is intersted and doesnt mind reading subs I would recomend checking these out:

Yea I don't see it either. I think the hair would be one of the focused points for this movie, but it looks like he grew it out a little and used two tubs of gel.

The only anime I know made into a live movie was Death Note. I can see how it would work, no crazy fights or anything, but DragonBall is different. I just don't see how it would work.

I find it very funny there aren't any Japanese people working on this movie, just Chinese and maybe one Korean guy, on top of the Americans. Not to be racist, but I mean if your going to make a movie based on something Japanese, you need Japanese people. It's like if the French make a movie about McDonald's with an all German cast. Bulma without blue hair = epic fail.

I saw a picture of Vegeta from this a little while ago and the V shape in his hair at the front made the guy look like he had a mono-brow :(

So, it’s no wonder that fans are anxious to see how producer Steven Chow will handle the live action film adaptation. Production has recently finished and already there are rumours of a boycott. We here at CBM have uncovered several new pictures and we have made our predictions as to what we can expect next spring. WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

First off, the new set pictures reveal the temple of the dragon, a high school and most importantly, a fighting ring! The ring appears to be in budokai fashion (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/4591.asp#) so we can assume the Tenkaichi Budokai will play a part in the movie. In the original Dragonball series, there are three tournaments taking place with Goku participating in the finals against Master Roshi, Tien, and then Piccolo’s son. The picture shows two minor characters fighting, but there is a good chance that the climax of the film may involve Goku and Piccolo fighting in the tournament.

Some new characters are shown in these set photos including Mr. Popo at the temple. We know that these two minor characters sitting in class are Emi (a friend of Chi Chi) and Agundas (a football player at the School). 1.Instead of Krillin, Goku’s best friend in the movie is named Teto
2.Some fans were upset by the original promotional pictures with Justin Chatwin’s look, but Goku's stunt double was seen wearing his classic fighting outfit
3.We know Chi Chi and Mai will fight in the tournament and Chi Chi wins

The film is slated for an April 2009 release date and they are currently in the post-production phase. 20th Century Fox will send loads of promotional pictures and teasers in the coming months to try to alleviate concerns, and sure enough, we'll have all the details.

I'm a fan just because that's what I always watched after school on the Cartoon Network while I was in Middle School. So it's got a place in my heart from childhood. :D I don't know what to expect. I really don't. Though I'm sure it won't be the worst movie ever made. I'm not going in with any high expectations of it being any better than a 2/10.
