While x360a does not encourage cheating, because the phone numbers are something that the developers wrote into the game, we have no problem with it. So discuss to your heart's content.

This thread is meant to provide order to all the random threads. Any cheat related discussion should be taken place in this thread. Any other threads will be locked.

Using cheats does not permanently disable achievements or 100%. Even if you use a cheat and save, the achievement is only blocked during the session you use the cheat in. If you save and load that saved game the achievement is no longer blocked. On same note cheating does not prevent 100% completion. There is a screen shot in another thread as proof or you can look up my GT(same as my name here).

I'd like to present you my mini-guide on getting the achievements first and then being able to cheat. Please do them in this order. If not things will mess up and you might not be able to obtain them all.

First things first is the "One Man Army" Achievement. This one is very simple and there are plenty of tutorials already. Make sure you do this before any of the others.

Next is the "Walk Free" Achievement. This is actually a lot easier to do than you might think, and you can use a couple cheats to make things easier. First you're going to want to enter in the "Raise Niko's Wanted Level" cheat(2675550150). Just once, so you can have it stored in the cheats menu on your phone. Then either run from the cops or get arrested to reset your wanted level. Then you're gonna want to spawn the boat(9385550100) so that's in your phone as well. Next spawn a car. A comet(2275550175) or turismo(2275550147) seems to work well. Then you're going to want a game plan. The basic premise for this is to get 4 stars and then drive to the water, spawn a boat, and floor it. You might want to put a waypoint near the water so when you enter the cheat 4 times to get 4 stars, you know where you're headed. This method actually works very well and I did it before I had the second island unlocked. I spawned the boat in the river and accidentally ended up with 6 stars by going too close to Algonquin. I was actually able to get away from six stars. Just keep your foot to the floor and AS SOON as you're out of their search area, stop, and you should be good.

Next is going to be the "Finish Him" Achievement. A lot of people are finding this more tricky than it actually is. Since we've already gotten the two wanted level achievements, we can now enter the cheat to remove Niko's wanted level(2675550100). You can do this when you have no stars. That way it's in his phone. Basically all you really need to do is walk up to pedestrians in fisticuffs and press B when close. Most of them will fight back. You should be able to get two counters in for most people. The way I countered was just by staying locked on and tapping A while moving my left joystick around. Then once I dodged their attack I hit B to counter. You will end up missing on a lot of blocks and therefore your health will go down but you should still be alright. If the cops come just pull out your phone and enter the cheat through the cheat menu to get rid of them. As others have said, it's alright if you die. I got 8 counters before dying and after respawning I yanked a guy out of his car and got my last two counters. Boom. Easy Achievement.

The last of the four is also not too difficult. I'm talking about the "Cleaned the Mean Streets" Achievement. Bring out your cell dial 911 to get a cop car to you. Hijack their ride and drive a safe distance while using your cheat to get them off of your tail. Now you should have a clean cop car at your usage. When stopped press LB to access the computer. The easiest way to rack up the kills is to go into "View Current Crimes" and select "Criminal on Foot." You're probably going to want a gun for this so if you haven't unlocked that option do more missions until you get one. The other available options are "Vehicle Stolen" and "Gang Activity." I avoided gang activity completely, and "Vehicle Stolen" can get sort of hairy as you're chasing a vehicle with multiple enemies shooting at you and if you're not the best at shooting and driving it can become difficult. Some people have had problems with the police computer not letting them search. Basically you're going to have to get a bit further into the story before accessing that ability. I'm not sure when you actually unlock it but I bet it's after you do Brucie's first mission. Anyway, just keep killing criminals until you reach 20. If your cop car gets destroyed repeat the above process of calling 911 and getting a new cruiser. You can check how many you've killed under "Stats" in the Pause menu. Scroll down to "Score" and then use your right stick to scroll your stats all the way to the bottom. You should see the words "Vigilante Levels Done." This is how many criminals you've killed with the police computer. Once you reach 20 your achievement should automatically unlock.

And that's it. Once you've gotten these four achievements you can be the cheater you've always wanted to be! Hope this guide helps. If you have any questions feel free to PM or IM me.

Mabey i can explain it a little better. Cheats only disable 4 achievements... the ones he listed above. You can use any and every cheat up untill you want to get the achievement. When your ready to get any of the 4 achievements just go to your Safehouse and save your game. Then go to your menu and load the game you just saved. After you load the game the achievements are no longer blocked. So for clarification the achievements are only blocked during the "session" you cheat in. Loading a saved game even if you've cheated prevously is a new session and there for the achievements are no longer blocked. 100% is in no way effected by cheats.

I miss GTA games where all I would do is cheat, but I like it better now. Sure, it's a bit difficult to play w/o cheats, but it's how games are supposed to be played.

The game isn't that hard you shouldn't need cheats tbh. I would only consider using cheats when I get around to killing thoose birds.

Since this IS a sticky it's easier for me to follow up on the following question. Is there a way to DELETE the cheat? As in, remove it/them from my phone?

I'm beginning to think there's an issue with the Rolled Over achievement considering hours before-hand, I used a cheat on a "difficult for me" mission.
It was the Full health, armor, and ammunition cheat and theSpawn SuperGT cheat. Since then, I have saved the game...loaded it...and still. With numerous barrel rolls, following YouTube video's I haven't been able to nail the achievement. I'd like to try doing it with NO cheats what so ever.

Side question: If I load a game from 2 days ago, will this hurt my progress? In other words, if I load a gamesave from 2 days ago (previous to my knowing about cheats), get the achievement, then load 'todays' game, will this hurt the progress?

The Doc 555 0100 cheat which gives you health, armor and weapons disables the "finish him" achievement too.

Also rolled over and chain reaction are also achievements that I am looking into because no matter how I do it in my cheated file I can never get the achievement. I have followed every vid here and tried every method and even blown up to 16 cars in one chain reaction but that did not work either :(. I think I will just get those two on a new file.

I got those 2 achievements after enabling cheats, they are just very awkward to pull off.

I hit a plane in mid-air while I got the Rolled Over achievement. To get chain reaction I just went to a random car park in a shitty area (where there are no car alarms) and lined up ten cars so they are touching, shot them up some so they are really damaged, then took a shotgun to the first car and watched them all blow up in seconds.

Don't rely on youtube, those guys got lucky.

I got Chain Reaction in the file I'd done plenty of cheating in. Can't remember if I'd cheated during that session, but I cheat a lot so I probably had.

I suspect problems with achievements seemingly being blocked by cheats that don't say they block them is a combination of the achievements being glitchy or inaccurately described, and cheating resetting progress already made on the achievement (eg health boost in the middle of Finish Him might restart the counter or timer, but cheating in the same session is probably OK).

People seem to say a lot of contradictory things about cheats so it's hard to be certain. After I cheated, didn't save and loaded my game from before ever cheating, I did NOT get Walk Free even though I lost my 4* wanted by driving away. I repeated the same thing after restarting the console (even loading the same save game) and got it. Other people say they didn't need to restart. Not even the achievements the cheats say they block are permanently blocked though.

I just got Finish Him. I'd cheated earlier in the session and hadn't saved or loaded. I didn't use any cheats between when I died and when I got the achievement though (I died DURING the 4 minutes a couple of times too, that doesn't matter).

Why don't you guys try on a different Gamertag. Make a new XBL silver account, it's free ( If you don't already have one ) It will prove your theorie.

I started a new gajme without saving, went to one of the roadblocks then jumped onto the railway track underneath, used the spawn a NRJ(? Motorbike anyways) and went to the bit where you get a 6 star wanted level, sat on the bike for 5 minutes and got the One man army achievement. Then I got the wheelie rider straight after.

Whats even funnier is i was doing it on a faggio (or is it paggio?) anyhoo, those things are great for the wheelie rider achievement, just hold back and you cant even flip over. My highest wheelie now is 1876 feet.

Try saving. Some people have said that's enough. Or save then load the new save. I've read that a few people have said that works, so you shouldn't have to load from before you cheated. As I said I didn't get Walk Free after loading (without saving first) from before I cheated until I restarted the console, but that could be glitchy achievements.

Well you can see everything on the phone/options menu yourself, so unless there's a number you dial that nobody knows about yet then the answer is no.

i just took a quick look at the list of cheats for this game, and compared to previous GTA games, this one sucks in the cheat department. Cheats used to be fun for me whenever i beat a game id go and use a bunch of cheats, but after looking at the very small list, only a noob would think they mattered.

The only thing to these cheats is the 3-5 minutes it saves getting the HARD items/cars/helicoptor. Use only when you are bored AND after you get all the achievements if you want that feeling of full accomplishment. Or if you really just want the achievements if ur already bored with the game.

I dont know how to say it any clearer than i already have. Look at my GT for proof. I cheated from the very first mission and ended with 556 cheats entered. Here is my previous post which contains all the info you'll need.

No! Good god, this has been cleared up for so long. There are 4 achievements that cheats block:

Cleaned the Mean Streets
Finish Him
Walk Free
One Man Army

that is it! The only reason people are not getting the other achievements has nothing to do with cheating. Maybe their games are glitching, I don't know. And you can use the cheats to still get 100%, as WhiskeyJoes already stated.

I hope that clears up the confusion.

I might be wrong...but doesn't the game message tells you what achievement will be disable once you use a particular cheat ? i did use the health cheat and the message comes up saying Cleaned the Mean Streets achievement will be disable.

is this correct for all cheats once we try to use them? will we get the message stating what cheat will be disable ?

Coincidence, when you enter a cheat it tells you which achievements are blocked.

1 - Go into the game.
2 - Enter weapon cheats etc.
3 - Save , then reload again.
4 - Play and earn achievements?

I blocked a majority of the achievements because of cheats. I then saved my game after using the cheats and reloaded that same game I had just saved. The block on the cheats was then wiped and I could get them again until I reentered the code.

Cheat Codes with affected achievements:

Refill health Dial "362-555-0100" into the cellphone. Note: This code prevents the "Cleaned The Mean Streets", "Finish Him", "One Man Army", and "Walk Free" achievements from being earned.

This is very simple.

Obtain the 3 achievements: "walk free" , "one man army" and "cleaned the mean streets" BEFORE using cheats. then cheat away.

i got to the stage last night were i played gta4 too 94.17 % compleat without using cheats but since the game come out ive been iching to use them. i gave up last night and started using the spawn car cheats as i was driving around i rememberd when finishing stevies txt mesg car delivery missions you have the ability to sell cars to him so thats when i thort it was time to get my Half Million 55G - Reach a balance of $500,000. achivement as i spent a lot of my money on guns throw my playthrow and never reached a balance of half mill so thats what i did started respawning these cars - SuperGT 227-555-0168 -Turismo 227-555-0147 and banging them into the garage but after a wile when u keep sticking fresh cars one after another i noticed the price going down from 11000 to about 7000 so what i did is when respawn a car hit it into the wall to make a little dent and it goes back up to 11000 for some strange reason. anyway this method took me about 20 mins to get half million but i did stop befor i hit the half mill mark and go save the game load it back up again and then wacked the last car in just in case of any fuck ups with the cheats and up poped my half mill chivie:locked:woop:

I can confirm that "Daredevil" nor "Key to the city" are affected by cheats. I used cheats galore getting those achievements and I saved a tone of times. ;)

i've completed the game, i have 98% currently and i'm going to do stevie's car missions then i will have 100%, after this i would like to use cheats and that to mess around as i have finished the game

would using cheats once i get 100% stop my chances of getting achievements online and those such as genetically superior ( i only need 10 races to get it)

would using cheats stop them or could i use cheats to mess around??

Akron clearly said that the cheat only blocks the achievement for that session. In other words say you spawned an Annihilator and then the Walk Free achievement it wouldn't give it to you but if you restarted the Xbox and did the same thing again without using the cheat you'd get the achievement.:eek:

If you call ZiT (948-555-0100) while listening to the "Spotted GTA Theme song" (The Song after Flight of the Bumblebee) in a Mr. Tasty Ice cream Truck. It activates a full health and armor cheat that doesn't disable any achievements.

Cheats do NOT prevent you from achieving 100% completion.

Cheats activated store in your cell. You cannot delete them afterwards.

None of the car cheats or other vehicle cheats disable any achievements, so you can use them all throughout the game with no repercussions. :D

So.... I've successfully managed the 3 of 4 achievements, following Akron's guide. Anyone who can't get it apparently fails at reading comprehension, anyways.

I'm about to do the clean the mean streets but I was wondering something. If I use the health cheat (which also gives weapons and blocks the clean the mean streets)

Can I still just save my game and then start killing again (like I ended up killing 7 of the "most wanted list).... and my health was down far so I used the cheat cause I couldn't find a hotdog stand in the boonies, or ghetto, or wherever I was and didn't wanna die before I found one.

Will that disable my achievement? Or can I simply keep going doing the save like I did?


Also I got the one man army with the boat, I circled around happiness island for 5 minutes til I got it, then I ran our far into the ocean outrunning the police boats and stopping the boat and whipping out the rocket launcher and blowing up the 2 choppers and then driving out past the search area and killed 2 birds with 1 stone, getting both walk free and one man army.

so you can just use the boat and the raise wanted level to 6 stars and have fun from there :uzi:

Is anyone else having problems with the "CLEANED THE MEAN STREETS" ?? It says in the stats I've killed 67 criminals, and I've also killed all of the 10 most wanted, so I'm not sure WTF is going on?

Also sometimes I'll be halfway to the destination of a criminal on foot or gang activity and it'll end it and i get the message "you have failed to neutralize the threat"

Is anyone else getting that?

Disregard the criminal kills thing, I was retarded for a second and looking at the WRONG part in STATS, I can see I have 19 vigilante levels done and I only need 1 more

but I am STILL getting that glitch where it shorts the level and i end up having to try and get another one.

Either the all weapons/health, remove wanted level, spawn chopper cheats disable chain reaction.

those are the only 3 cheats i've been using and i was never able to get chain reaction. just loaded game up today, didn't cheat and got it in one try.

I remember my PS2 days though where games were 3 for $15 SGD. cough cough *piracy market** cough cough. ANd almost every game in PS2 had cheats. When i got the 360 i tried finding them and most so called ''cheats'' are the list of achievements lulz. I though 360 games had no cheats but i guess not this is the only game i know about that has cheats though.
Games like fifa08,cod4,halo3 all don't have them o.o
