Quickie Roll-over glitch exploit

I dont really know if its a glitch or not, but heres how i just got the rolled over achievement.

So i jacked myself a car in the parking lot out front the airport. That flipped on its back like a turtle real quick. I then jacked a Police Car.

If there are any san andreas players here, you may remember the Driving School? there was this one test where you had to correctly angle i think it was a banshee, to make it roll and land on its wheels then in the cone zone? Well its a similar strategy here.

Instead of aiming just the two wheels, aim half your car at one of those yellow caution ramp things. It should do a couple rolls, not 5 though. Now quickly, hit another one as quickly as you can, and if the rolls total out to 5, you get the achievement. There is a video on youtube (link below) which a guy encounters the same glitch and gets the achievement but didnt know how.

I didnt either, but i noticed how quickly he was hitting those ramps in succession, so i gave it a whirl and it worked THE FIRST TIME!

It worked for me to.. Did it last night.

I used a standard yellow taxi cab to do it...
It was totally smashed up afterwards, bcos i didnt always land on my wheels straight away.. lol

Yeah I was wondering about that. I used an airport taxi. And I didn't think I landed 5 rolls, but I landed a bunch just fine.

Same sort of thing happened to me when I was going for the wheelie one. I keep trying to get it and didn't come close to five hundred feet. Then the achievement pop up after a just pulled the wheel up.

i just want to say thanks on my mates behalf as he had been trying this since the game come out (thats what he told me), and doing this method, it worked first time.

This achievement is definitely glitched, I did 5 rolls once and didn't get it, yet I just did this method at the airport and got the achievement by doing 3 rolls.

I used the Sentinel.

There was at least 3 times where I barrel rolled at least 5-6 times and still didn't get this achievement. I'd hear a blip and be like "Finally!!", only to realize a friend got online, or someone sent me a message, and that I hadn't gotten this. I eventually got it, but it took me much longer than it should have.

i think in order for the glitch to work, you cant completely come to a halt. Like you gotta land on your wheels and keep going. Like when you jack a car with a passenger in it, but quickly take off, the passenger doesnt get out till your at a stop before he runs for his life or tries to beat you up :P

Try taking this into account when trying for this glitch.

I still wish sum1 would sticky this or add it to teh achievement guide topic :)

I got the achievement from doing a 3 barrelled roll. I just kept driving up and down the runway at the airport like in the video and rolling once or twice each jump. Did that about 6 or 7 times then finally got it! Cheers for the post!

supposedly the guy that made the video is a x360a forums member. I seen him make a post with the same video. Didnt notice it til now, but i did notice something he did not. He couldnt figure out how it happened. I did.

Also, on the stats page, it says i only did 2 rolls max. :P

The achievement seemed a bit glitched for me too, but I've got a theory to put out there. I did it at the airport off the yellow signs, and couldn't seem to get 5 flips in a single jump. When I finally got the achievement, I had done as follows: 4 rolls off a sign, 1 roll off the next sign, 1 roll off the next sign, and finally in trying to turn around on the runway on 3 rims, the rims caught and I rolled 1.5 times. As soon as I stopped (upside down) the achievement unlocked. It was definitely combining the rolls, but if that was all, I should have unlocked it a roll or two prior. I'm wondering if the mention of "crash" in the description means that the game checks the achievement when your car is in an undrivable position, and then maybe it checks to see how many total rolls the car has (or how many recent rolls or something). Just another data point; I'm curious if anyone else has seen something similar.

Haha, thanks for the help. What a random achievement. I know I wasn't getting close to the 5 rolls but I knew the achievement just pops up eventually so stuck with it and what do you know. So glad it didn't actually have to be 5.

yep, thanks for this advice. this worked for me too. i did three rolls in one jump, then i did another 1 and then 1 more and got the achievement! well done for pointing this out!

I rolled 6 times, never got it, then I tried this method, got it after one front flip.

Get like 2-3 front flips and it seems to work. Its kind of weird. If not just keep trying.

yeah i'm with you. i might try it again later.

i went through about 20 cars, between popped tires, being generally destroyed, and cops ramming the shit out of me. also, i bent an axle. i didn't know you COULD bend axles. makes it very hard to drive.

firstly i did this last night and it worked so thanks for the tip. I used a cop car by the way and it worked well.

I think your right by the way the achievement wouldnt unlock for me until i had done enough roll and then landed the car on its roof! the second it landed on the roof it popped up.

so people struggling maybe try get enoug rolls then attempt to flip the car

i think landing on one side of your vehicle, like having only 2 wheels on the ground, then it landing the other two, would count as well. You have to do it as fast as you can WITHOUT SLOWING DOWN, i know that seems hard since when you flip its hard to keep going when you land. You just have to try and get your car to land on its wheels at a high enough speed to where you can keep trying as soon as you land. Doing this while trying to do rolls is hard, but GTA veterans have had practice with this :)

Bobtroid, I was right there with ya. Took me 45 minutes, but I finally got it. Just keep at it!

Did it with a cop car because the car I drove onto the runway was long gone. I ended up hitting the last jump, spinning and landing almost exactly like it happened in the video, ha ha; Rolled Over unlocked.

Then I ran down the hill, jumped in the water and swam like Hell, inadvertently unlocking Walk Free.

From what I saw, I believe all the rolls have to be in the same direction in order to count. Be sure to always hit the sign from the same direction (notice the guy in the video kept coming from the left), because the roll counter probably resets if the car rolls the other way.

haha, you know getting this while using an FBI buffalo while simultaniously hitting an Enforcer helicopter and causing it to crash was one of my favorite experiences in GTA IV so far.
