it is for me anyway haha ive tried it sooo many times, it makes me want to never play the game again!

Basically, no matter how fast i get on the boat and chase the chopper, little jacob lowers his chopper way too quickly and takes off before i can get anywhere near him! The guide says just do it fast but ive done it as fast as i possibly can, and since it takes Nico about 5 seconds to actually sit down in the boat once you've pressed Y theres not much more i can do

Anyone have any advice? Im seriously bummed out, its spoilt what was up until this, a pretty enjoyable single player.

All I can say is keep at it. Just keep throttling the gas on the boat and head for the arrow. It's possible.

Not impossible. it took me seven tries, but i done it.
Hug the corners you make in the boat to get extra distance, and never let go of right trigger. youll lose too much speed.

It then becomes a case of hoping that the rockets dont hit you

I beat it my first try. When you get on the helicopter and the boat starts shooting missils RUSH to the island . I got hit once and rushed and I made it lol.

This mission took me a fair few tries as well, just keep on trying and you should get it eventually. I never found it hard to get to Jacob's chopper in time I just found it hard to actually get Niko to get into the boat quick enough.

I thought the last mission was the easiest. All you gotta do is stop shooting at the helicopter before getting yourself into Helicopter with Jacob.

all i did was drive the boat and go to the arrow, one of easiest missions on the game IMO

just try and get as close to a corner as possible and not to stray too much and stay on the right side of the boat if possible, when i did it i was weaving in and out so i was not in a straight line.

I had the same problem with this mission. first time i couldn't get to Jacob quick enough, second time i went to high in the heli and lost him, third time i didn't get on the boat quick enough and got blown up...

BUT!

the 5th time i did IT! :D

All i can say is just keep trying. ;) as soon as you reach the boat swim over to the back press "x" to get into the back walk to the controls press "y" then just full throttle it. Don't pull back or foward on the joystick as that won't help much just keep following the heli if you start getting shot at with a sub machine or what ever it is he shoots at you not the RPG's. Don't slow down or back off because hes shooting you it won't kill you if anything it will knock a very small amout of health or armour off. then when Jacob comes down just keep heading for the arrow and you should make it. :)

I didn't have any problems climbing from the boat to Little Jacob's Chopper, the problem that I kept running into was actually getting the boat off of the dock before getting shot from an RPG. There were several times in a row where I would fall off of Dimitri's helicopter, immediately climb into the boat, only to immediately explode. Talk about frustrating. Once I got away from the dock, it was fairly simple from there. If you are having problems reaching Little Jacob's helicopter, you could try working the Trim (using the Left Analog Stick), that may help you get some extra speed.

this mission was probably the most annoying mission of all time. I have the same problem, I would make it to the helicopter but jacob raises it and I lose Dimitri, secondly I would get in the helicopter and get blown up. it took me about 30 times overal(no exaggeration), but I eventually did it. The trick is to get into the boat as quick as possible. If you get into the boat quickly, then you would make Jacobs helicopter easier.

I did it, first try, with half- health left.

Stay behind the helicopter, but don't ride it's ass. That'll get you easily blown away with an RPG. Then, when you see LJ's helicopter, just gun it. When you're in the helicopter, stay behind, and above the other helicopter. Don't go below it and (stay low) like it says, that's an easy way to get you hit with an RPG.

While driving a boat, cant you just use the right thumbstick to make the boat (i dunno boating terms) jump up less so the boat goes faster? its so stupid how I cant really explain anything to you but if you read the manual, there should be something in there about driving the boat. similar to riding the motorcycle, if you duck your head some, you drive much faster. Someone please explain better then me if you can understand me. Sorry. I'm a little slow today

Same here ! as for the post question - I did this in like 2 min 1st time, all you do is run to the dock and jump on the bike and chase him, the helicopter will come and you jump a ramp to get to it - Simple ;)

and i knew how long the mission was so i really didnt want to fail, i failed to many times on one of the longer missions and it was nerve recking

i'm thinking it might be the weather system -- the ease of the mission might depend on how choppy the water is.

either way, if you wanna talk impossible boating mission, go play vice city. there's a mission called "checkpoint charlie" and it's basically a checkpoint boat race that unlocks the boatyard as an asset. it took me close to 50 tries. everyone i know that played it had similar issues: you just can't make the checkpoints with enough time left unless everything goes amazingly perfect with the weather, you hit and land every jump perfectly, and you handle the boat perfectly. this is complicated by the wonky boat camera -- first person is slightly better, but not much. you can't actually see half the turns you have to make, so it's all blind memorization.

after that, the final mission of this game is practically nap time.

It's far from impossible, if anything I struggled with the bit once your in the chopper, until I realised you need not shoot at all, just avoid his rockets for a minute or two until you land and then chase him on foot.

The jump was the only thing i ever had troubles with.

When getting near the chopper, a cutscene will play and then when it throws you back into gameplay, Niko is holding onto the chopper and you have to pull yourself up by mashing the A Button

i did both versions of the last three missions. when i did the bike one, i made the jump so horribly i thought i was gonna end up re-doing the mission. i literally missed the ramp, turned around, failed to get enough run-up, and went up the ramp like half speed. and still made it perfectly.

This mission is doing my head in. 13 attempts so far. 8 of those have been nothing going wrong and just not being able to get to jacob's heli before he flies off. And a couple of those have definately been me getting into the boat and setting off as fast as physically possible.

Can anyone shed any more light on this? When I start the mission, it's always nice and sunny, then at some point between entering the building and D killing P it turns into hella rainy thunderstorm end-of-the-world type weather, every time.

Was this the case for everyone else, or is it just because of when my pre-mission save is?

Yep was same for me. i belive thats what the weather is set for the mission.

Just got it. Waiting a day for different weather didn't change anything - weather was different for the pre-boat part put still a dramatic megastorm for the boat chase.

I think the thing I did different was going to the left once the arrow appears under Jacob, as someone mentioned above. Keep right and hug the coast until you go under the bridge as Jacob appears, and then move as far left as possible.

Guess I'll try again to see if this keeps working, seeing as my damn Liberty City Minute achievement didn't unlock. Borderline broken missions and glitched achievements? Way to make me lose all the love I was feeling for your game, rockstar.

you know, i don't remember whether or not it was raining. i don't think it was... could be wrong.

I thought this one was easy. If you are having trouble with your bike, don't slide at all and don't take turns too fast. The helicopter goes pretty slowly.

Just keep doing it. I didnt find it too hard just i blew myself up once with an rpg and one other time i missed the ramp to the heli... After that its a breeze

yeah, but they're very similar. on one, you chase the boat in a bike and make a jump to catch jacob's heli. on the other, you chase the boat in another boat, and have to be below the heli at a certain point. then you get in the heli, and chase the other one to the statue of happiness, and kill whichever boss is in your mission.

neither is especially more difficult than the other.

HAHA, I got advice, play a mature game when your actually mature, i found nothing wrong or difficult about the last mission, i actually did two saves and then completed them both on the first try. Wow, I didn't think it was possible to miss the helicopter with the bike. For me it always went into a cut scene. Maybe you're too fast for your own good. Anyway, try this. Make sure you see the helicopter or listen for Little Jacob as you're on the bike, to make sure they're there when you hit the ramp. Don't rush it, you have plenty of time. I even fell of the bike after hitting a boulder head on and still made it. Hope this helps.

Don't go flatout on the bike around the corners and that when you are on the sand....

As long as you get to the bike quickly and get off the mark quickly you can still caress the bike round the corners and get to the chopper.

I done this on my second go, my 1st attempt i cleaned myself up on a barrel laying in the sand just before the jump.

Still messing with "A Revenger's Tragedy" here.... I manage to get into LJ's chopper alright but then I seem to loose Dimitr's. Does he turn left over the city or does he continue following the "harborline" ? It's a matter of 2-3 secs before he's gone and I've had it with doing the mission over and over again. I dint even know u could use a bike, i found that if u slow down (release the accelerator for about 1 second) in the boat by the rocks about half way through the chase and then floor it, u can catch LJ real easyily and when it came to the chopper i just went up really high where you cant be hit.

it took me 2 times to do the final mission. the first time i got through the initial fire fight after the chase without getting hit once. i got on the bike and missed the jump.
The game started me again at the beginning of the fire fight with no ammo. I had to reboot the disc again.

Most of the mission took me one try, until i got to the motorcycle part.
Then everytime i was RIGHT infront of the ramp there was always a barrel that i couldnt see so i ran over it and went flying =D

took about seven tries to perfect that... lol

I get into the chopper and it tells me to stay low but I have only seconds before it says "Dmitri got away". What I need is an exact direction where I should go right after I've taken control over LJ's chopper. I've attempted this mission 7-8 times by now and it's so timeconsuming. Tips, hints and help appreciated. Please!

don't worry about where the helicopter is (unless it has already passed the jetty) just keep at a constant speed and be VERY careful while driving on the beach, one slip up will lead to a failure.

Thanks man, but I'm working on the A Revenger's Tragedy-mission here. Once I get into LJ's chopper Dmitri is way ahead of me and I loose him in just a few seconds. It appears he's somewhere northwest but no matter where I take the chopper it still says he's got away.

Wish there was a youtube clip of this mission but there isn't. I dunno what to do really. I'm so close but yet so far away. Sigh :(

thats odd! i missed the copter my first try..had no idea thats what u had to do lol...but the second time seemed to work right on.. i tihnk its really important to not get knocked off the bike & to stay on track..dont need to go full tilt but fast enough to drive properly without accident. with that being said, you should eventually lock on perfectly, then just drive straight lol. You'll have to get low, get some shots on him & the rest will happen naturally..i wont spoil that part for you though :)

it takes a couple of tries to get to Jacob. I first got stuck trying to get in the boat without getting rocketed by Dimirtri. but i think revenge was WAY more fun than deal, because you get to kill Jimmy and Dimitri.

Anyway I was at my friends house and we took turns on this mission and it took us like 6-9 tries 2 finish it. I can't remember exactly but it was around there.

I got it after about 5 goes (3 of those were because I blew myself up firing RPGs from the cover of the car lmao) but the only bit I found hard was avoiding the RPGs when in the choper, I was doing Out of Comission :)

Damn... I made an alternate save at "the choice" part to play both endings and it was saved over. But the mission was fairly easy compared to earlier ones.
