Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=7415), which grossed an estimated $100.7 million domestically and over $200 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=44655) announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=23177) is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=44656) (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=44657) scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)

With that in mind, one can start expecting a lot more announcements in the coming months about creative teams and casting for those movies including who might direct the Captain America and Avengers movies. (Whomever plays Steve Rogers AKA Captain America presumably will be making two movies at once.)

There will be a webcast for investors at 9AM Eastern at www.Marvel.com/webcasts (http://www.Marvel.com/webcasts) where the same information should be relayed.

Yay, these look like good movies! Especially The Avengers, which might contain Deadpool, no?If Iron Man 2 is better than Iron Man my head might just explode in amazement. Also, these movies leave gaps for good video games! Thor and Captain America would work pretty great.

Thor!! I can't wait for that one, despite what The Pants Party has to say :p

There's also going to be a Wolverine movie released sometime next year I think, supposedly it has Deadpool in it.

Marvel movies have been pretty good so I suppose I'll end up seeing these. I wouldn't say I'm super excited about them but I'll see them.

After seeing the bonus clip after the credits of Iron Man I was thinking that they should make movies for some of the other Avengers like Captain America....and now I know they are doing it...Woot!

Going to be another couple of good summers for Comic book movies!

Iron Man was freaking awesome! Especially the scene after the credits leaves it open for the sequel and where they plan on going. Warhammer i think will be in Iron Man 2 so that would be cool seeing them team up and battle a baddie.

You mean War Machine? I was very surprised at how damn good Iron Man was as a film. That fire extinguisher droid was fantastic - and his first test flight was hilarious.

Both Deadpool and Gambit are supposed to be in the new Wolvie film (and obviously Sabretooth as well).

Ant-Man is also pencilled in on IMDB (comedy by the writer of Hot Fuzz), and Tony Stark makes an appearance in Hulk.

Finally Marvel have sorted themselves out and it's gonna be great.

The Iron Man sequel could have so many possibilities....because they left it open for any number of things.

1. War Machine, or just Rhodes taking over Iron Man while Stark battles his alcoholism.
2. Mandarin, They said they wouldn't have Stark fight his archenemy in the 1st film.
3. How he ends the film in the News Conference by telling his Identity is how he starts the Civil War (in the comics), so they could go that direction.
4. The Bonus clip, leads to the Avengers...
5. His guest Appearance in the Hulk movie coming up, could mean he'll fight the Hulk in the sequel.

Number 5 is the one I am leaning towards...and I just found this as well

Since Iron Man is the hero who is the main guy and is in control in the Marvel universe, then there is a possibility he could continue to make cameos in upcoming Marvel films. For instance, in Thor movie we could see the Thorbuster armor:

http://www.advancediron.org/images/thorbusterarmor.jpg http://images.wikia.com/marveldatabase/images/a/a5/THORBUST.gif

And in The Avengers there is the possiblity of the Hulkbuster armor:

http://image.comicvine.com:8000/vol/19000/18220/18220-108386-1-iron-man_400.jpg

And in The Incredible Hulk movie:

General Ross mentions a World War II program that created a super soldier formula to Emil Blonsky (The Abomination), who leaps at this chance to defeat the Hulk. Viewers see this as a nod to Captain America
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America_in_other_media#Crossovers

I doubt Marvel will ever do a live action Civil War film since people don't like seeing superheros vs. superheros.

Mandarin will probably be the villain in the next film since Mandarin is referenced by the name "The Ten Rings" of the terrorist group. The leader, Raza wears a gold ring and the novelization of the film has him answering to a higher power.

And if War Machine is going to be appearing in the next Iron Man film or the one after it, then there could also be a War Machine spinoff. This wouldn't be new to Marvel since there was a Daredevil spinoff, the horrible film known as Elektra, and a Venom movie is in the works.

With the exception of The Hulk, X-Men 2 & 3, and Fantastic 4 they have all been relatively good, with The Punisher being the best.

I thought X-Men 2 was great and 3 wasn't as bad as everyone said. I heard The Hulk and Fantastic 4 sucked and I didn't really like The Punisher that much.

I think the original Punisher is better than the remake. I thought all the Xmen were decent...They fucked up bad with F4: 2 Silver Surfer....It could have been so much better...but hey it's a hit or miss market..and there have been more hits than misses.

Yes, The Hulk was garbage. The entire movie was basically him dealing with his emotions and it never really took off, then it abruptly ended with no clear indication of a second film. But now it looks like The Incredible Hulk, with Norton, should do that series some justice. As for X-Men 2 and 3, I didn't enjoy them too much, they seemed kinda cheesy to me.

The Punisher was good [IMO] because Castle was a real human being, a regular person. Not some super rich millionaire or someone born with powers. He was a trained US Seal and used what he knew to get revenge (or "punishment" :p) on those who killed his family.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with both Robert Downey Jr. and director Jon Favreau after the box office figures for Iron Man (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=7415) started coming in. They asked both about Iron Man 2 (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=44655), coming to theaters on April 30, 2010.

Here's a clip from the Downey Jr. interview, which you can read in full here (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20198228,00.html):

When you were brainstorming with Jon Favreau, what were the elements that you wanted to bring to the next Iron Man movie?
There's this idea of Terrence [Howard] putting on a suit and coming back as War Machine, who is pretty iconic in the Iron Man and Marvel universe. Just seeing where it can all go, but grounding it in a very modern mythology. I see it as greatest dysfunctional family story ever told.... In The New York Post a couple days ago, [there was a cartoon] of Iron Man suited up, and he's telling the governor even his super-powers can't get him out of the budget problem. That was what Jon was hoping for and excited to see the most, the idea that Tony Stark and Iron Man can become part of the cultural fabric. When we heard posters were being defaced to promote political or social ideas, he just got such a hoot out of that.

And a bit from the Favreau interview, available in full here (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20198027,00.html).

Will you be involved with the sequel?
We've been speaking informally about it, and in concept we would all love to work together again. But I found out about the announcement last night, so it's not something that — we would definitely love to collaborate more with the sequel. There's no formal arrangement yet, but in theory we would all love to see it happen.... There's definitely a lot of ideas that we all have now. This type of movie is based on serialized materials, so it lends itself very easily to [many different sequel possibilities]. There's definitely a level of enthusiasm from myself and the cast to tell more stories.

Iron Man (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=7415) earned an additional $6.9 million on Monday and has pushed its domestic total to $109 million.

Yes, The Hulk was garbage.

I must admit, when I first watched The Hulk I completely agreed - I don't think he hulks up in the first hour of the film and I found it really tiresome for a superhero movie.

However, on a second watch I actually quite enjoyed it for what it was, and the comic-frames were a lot less annoying.

Saying all this I'm sure the new one is gonna be what everyone expects and far better.

I love comic book/super hero movies.

I've seen...

Iron Man

Superman

All of the Spidermans

The Hulk

A couple Batman movies

a couple more that i can't think of right now because it's almost 5 in the morning.

All I know is that I liked them all! Great movies I must say. Especially Iron Man. I loved that movie!

Sorry for spelling it's late :p

New Information is out saying Marvel is getting pretty clever with their cross overs...there is a image being released that you can see Captain America's Shield in Starks lab..

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/news/iron-man/capamericashieldironman.jpg

It's kind of hard to see but you can clearly see the star and red/blue outline..

It's now being released that in the Hulk they will talk about the "Super Soldier Serum" and even show it...for those who don't know that's how Cap. America is created.

http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/news/captain-america/capthulk.jpg

Thought this was pretty smart and pretty cool at the same time...it seems that Marvel is getting the storyline ready for the Avengers.

Haha..I was...but I can change it to some other movie....I liked it...I thought both were ok and somethings about both I liked more than the other and I thought the Original out edged the remake...barely.

...The entire movie was basically him dealing with his emotions...

But you see, that IS the Hulk. I loved the style of filming and insistance on a comic book panel style as well as preferred Sam Elliot's General Ross look over William Hurt. Granted Nick Nolte as his father slash Absorbing Man ruined a powerful adversary but the movie still wasn't atrocious... People just shouldn't have expected a remarkably stimulating plot for a movie who's protaganist is renowned for his simplistic "Hulk smash!" line :P

We'll see the direction it goes.

Iron WAS pretty impressive, I must say. Coming as someone who despises the current Tony Stark incarnation in the comic books and everything he's responsible for (Civil War, Cap's Death, Spidey's One More Day/Brand New Day), it made me wish this was the Tony I read about. Robert Downey Jr SOLD that movie. I am positive that without him, it would not have been remotely as good.

Also, I'm glad Marvel finally clued in on having one studio for all its characters. Now to just buy back the rights to the ones already owned by others :P

Yeah since Stan Lee and marvel really got involved with the scripts and production of the movies the content and visuals have gotten sooo much better. Plus there are soo many comics that deserve to get made into movies its just finding the right combo of actors to pull of the character right and not make a mockery of the comic

Eh, I dunno. I stood on his side in CW the whole time. Was especially happy when Spidey joined him (although he should have been on that side the whole time)

If you read the What If? Civil War special, it shows you a possible solution to CW that wsa pretty cool had Tony not been so arrogant in this.
