Damn tanks ..

Yeah .. so i have unlocked all but 1 of the achievements. The last is to liberate a few more places .. problem being theres like .. 6 tanks and they keep killing me instantly, anyone got any tips for avoiding or taking them out? thanks ;)

What I did if I was getting stuck start the mission then let the tanks blow up your teammates but not you so the mission ends. The tanks will still be around for like 30 seconds after the mission is over which gives you time to run up and hijack it.

This will let you start the mission in a tank. I found doing that helped me anyways.

Just finished it all last night!
I agree that the tanks can be a problem, the ways i got past them were:

If they are at a blockade try to get round to the side of them jump in then jump out so the driver gets chucked out! (If you stayed in to long you seemed to become a big target a die very quickly)

I found that a chopper with missiles worked very well on most of the military bases.
Fly over quickly make a note of where the SAM's are, then fly back over but a lot higher. It is only at certain height that the SAM's become active, then you can take them out, land, start mission and jump back in the chopper and blast away!

Binty is right, i just did the same thing with helicopter, go over the base kill the SAM's, then go trrigger the liberation, then get back in heli and fire away, cake man.

A big problem for everyone hunting for this achievement. It took a while to get a technique that worked, by I suggest staying on the grass and as far away from the road as possible to begin with. Now, the tanks are bound to get stuck at the entrance to the base as you start the liberation, meaning that if you try to run past them you are going to be getting nailed with more than your health can take. So I suggest following the wall of the base, then making a mad dash to and stealing one of the tanks as soon as you can. This forces the enemy driver out of the vehicle. You can then get out, steal, and repeat for all other tanks crammed at the entrance. Now just stay far, far away from the path, using rockets on the baracades. It should take about 5-10 tries to get right on that uber-hard base you are talking about, which I am pretty sure is the hardest base in the game. Good luck =)
