i just got the guide today and i also got the game today. The guide for finding everything is really use full with pictures and descriptions of where they are. Maps also have dots to show where flying rats, jumps, weapons, and armor are. So i think its worth it

As I don't have much money, I don't want you to waste yours.........
Try this website if you need locations of the Pigeons, Jumps, etc --- http://grandtheftauto.ign.com/maps/1/Liberty-City-Map
Although it may not be as detailed as the official guide, it still contains all the information you need.

About 90% of the guide is strictly story missions/procedural missions, but it also includes VERY detailed maps at the back of the book for every pigeon, unique jump, random character, etc. It's really up to if you want to spend $20 on it. Soon enough there will be stuff online that is just as good.

Go to a game store or something and skim through the guide. Decide for yourself.

they put a lot of detail into the guide, i think it was $20 well spent personally.

get the guide. i only used it for pigeons and the other side stuff and it helped. i was confused from some of the stunt/pigeon locations but all in all it was a good buy.

Usually guides aren't very well done or perhaps not worth the dough. However, this guide so far has been worth every penny I spent on it. It is very detailed and contains everything you will need to make liberty city yours.

I've ordered mine off Play.com, for £8.99.
I got a Brady Guide book for The Club, although I'm yet to put it to use. That guide book is superb, so didn't hesitate to buy the GTA one.

I just use IGNs guide. Its free, has pics of the overhead map, and of each Rat or Jump, and on a nice color printer (thank you work :) ) works just fine.

I think the guide is good, but the layout is weird. Usually they would have separate sections in their guide, for example: 1 for missions, 1 for Random Characters, 1 for Side Missions. But in this one they put them all in the main story walkthrough, which is fine, because you know whats available to do next and when stuff is unlocked but they could of copied and pasted into sections too. Also, what happened to the weapons and vehicles sections they put into every GTA guide. I liked seeing all the cool vehicles there is and the stats for each one. I think the game is too big for the guide :)

One criticism I have now I've done 100%, the pictures for stunt jumps and pigeons aren't exactly great. Some of them I have had to jump online to check where they were.
One or two of the descriptions were pretty crap too, again had to get online to check where I was supposed to be going.

I agree with the pics not being too hot. The main problem is that they are so small.... bit like you used to get on a photographic contact sheet... lots of thumbnails. And you do have to squint for some of them LOL. I've done half the pigeons now, and luckily not had to go online to double check (so far! lol) I'm yet to tackle the stunt jumps and it's brain damage enough looking for the pigeons!
Still a good guide that's worth getting though, and personally for me, still preferable than looking for hundreds of dots on a map. Especially as you have the added bonus of the (albeit small) scenery shots to help when you're at the location.

Aye it's not too bad all in all, just jumps and pigeons I had bother with. As I said before the fold out map was great.
Only paid £8.99 for it anyway so can't grumble too much :D

It will definatley make things easier but you can do without. After the halo 3 guide I'm never buying a game guide again.

I find that it is worth the money. I mainly brought it because of the pigeons and USJ's...and because I have the guides for other GTA's.
The big fold out map is sweet.
meh
i think everything u need is online
and it gives u better pics of stunt jumps and pigeons
i guess get the guide for the fact of easy access unless u hav a laptop

I used to use the PSP for some guides as my work laptop isn't wireless, although wouldn't have been much good for GTA methinks. Traded in the PSP a few weeks back though so had no choice but to use the guide, as the guy said above, for ease.
I had the GTA:SA guide too and they did put some changes online after a few months, just needed to print them off. Just to rectify using wrong pictures in some places and to update descriptions.
