What were your favorite moments history?

1) The Death of Kurt Cobain. Unfortunately, Courtney didn't follow in his footsteps. His suicide didn't do anything but sell ten times more barely mediocre albums. No one gave a shit about him, at least in mainstream, until he killed himself, because he wasn't that good.

2) The Beatles' celebrated rooftop show. This day's work has passed into history as the Beatles' last live performance, even if it couldn't be classified as a concert. The 42-minute show (about half of which comprises the sensational close to the Let It Be film) was a lunchtime blast into the cold wind - imagine a high London rooftop in January - that brought part of the capital to a standstill, until the police, in turn, brought the show to an enforced conclusion.

Lars is such a douchefag. I don't dislike Metallica for their music but I can't stand what they do and what they stand for. Metallica died along with Cliff Burton imo.

Stevie Ray Vaughan being born. He is the best guitarist ever IMO, but I don't want to start a debate about that.

I love the sig Honkeymagoo. Lars' drums do sound like he's banging on trash cans in St. Anger. It is absolutely terrible. Not that James and Kirk's guitar playing sounded much better. The dropped tuning sound and style doesn't suit Metallica at all IMO.

Stevie Ray Vaughn is good, but he has nothing on Hendrix, Clapton, Jimmy Page, or Townshend. go back to rock school bro.

When NWA released, "Str8 Outta Compton", which basically started gangsta rap, although hip hop/rap has really gone downhill in recent years, it was a big change from what was going on at the time

If you think it's gone downhill you've been listening to the wrong stuff.

When all of Pink Floyd (minus Syd Barret of course) reunited for the show at Live 8. I just wish they had stayed together from there.

I gotta disagree about Cobain being Mediocre; Nirvana is much better than many bands, Cobain also made a genre of music and not too many people can say that. I liked Nirvana and I have never been one to be too big into music. So I am not one of these underground freaks that obsesses over a band. But Nirvana's influence is still heard in music today. Any time you hear any songs that are classified as alternative, that mostly has to do with Nirvana. I think that they are one of the best groups of all time.

Go back to elementary school and learn how to read, bro. It's my personal opinion, and I said I didn't want to start a debate. So why start?

Tussell - your favorite moment in music history is when someone committed suicide? A bit sociopathic don't ya think? :P

Mine is kind of like a double edge sword, I like both Audioslave and RATM, but unfortunately for one to exist the other one can't. I was glad to see Rage get back together, or atleast play more shows. :p

Kurt's death wasn't so much memorable as remarkably tragic. Sure, we saw it coming but it hit hard. He laid the foundation to so much that is still being seen today that he can't just be dismissed.

Agree on the Oasis post. (WTS)MG? is absurdly amazing. Seeing Noel emerge as a vocalist was a treat for me. I favor him over Liam to this day.

A few of my own:

- G n' R - Appetite for Destruction being released
- Pearl Jam's lawsuit against Ticketmaster and their official bootlegs breaking the record industry rules
- Michael Jackson's Thriller: Say what you want, you cannot deny the power this 9 track EP still has today
- The Police reuniting... An event that I thought was less likely that Axl's Chinese Democracy being released

I've got more on the brain but I thought I'd stick with this for now :)

Ozzy's getting kicked out of Black Sabbath was a pretty big moment, hell without him being kick out he never would have gone on to be what he is today and Sabbath would be nowhere as big as they are. Dont get me wrong I love BS but they wouldnt be as big without Ozzy being as wild as he is today

I hate Ozzy so much, Sabbath were great.

Cobain and Nirvana didn't do anything positive for music then or now.

I don't listen to Sabbath, they bore more. So that's why I didn't know Ozzy got kicked out. Nor did I care :P

Guess that explains our different views on Nirvana :P

Damn right!

Freddy Mercuries death ranks up there anyway, same with Hendrix and Vaughans premature deaths.
