With all the people getting their copy of GTA IV at midnight and then signing in on xbox i could put money on Xbox Live either being buggy or slow. I assume that the last update not too long ago was perhaps to stop this but i remember when that update finished that millions of people signed in the moment Xbox Live was back on track and everyones xbox's played up i even know someone who had 3 friends all get the RRoD at that moment. Anyone else reckon this could happen or do you have belief in Microsoft? I for one wont be bothered buy this because i live in the UK and i think it may happen when you guys in the states get your filthy hands on them ;) whilst im fast asleep.

I highly doubt it. I guarantee you that a vast majority of the people will be playing single player.
I don't think MS would be so stupid as to let live crash when one the biggest game of the year comes out. It wouldn't suprise me if live crashed though...

After Halo 3 and COD4 I like to think they know how to handle it.

Plus the fact they just had maintenence a week or two ago getting stuff beefed up just for this.

I think we will be ok, and If that does happen. I will just unplug the net play offline, and start live back up in the AM

I think they are prepared. I would assume alot of people are going to be playing the single player at first.

I totally agree with you blake i think that the update they did the other week was rubbish cos it buggerd most peoples xbox's and the server will just keep crashing. i am still getting the game but for the frst couple of days i will be on the story mode

Will someone who is NOT playing GTA IV (like me) get affected? (I'll be getting the last achievement I'm missing in the Orange Box)

I think it may crash, but I do believe more people will be playing single player then the multiplayer to start.

I won't touch multiplayer for at least a few days until I can scratch the surface of the main story missions first. I highly doubt anyone will experience lag even if most players did jump right into online play first. I am sure Microsoft learned their lessons and made some fixes after the COD 4 holiday fiasco.

It was slow a little bit earlier but all fine now. I am sure Microsoft have things sorted.

I'm sure the multiplayer will be flooded but unlike games like CoD4 and Halo 3, you will have much more people playing single player at first and probably even for a a long while. Unlike any other multiplayer game before, this game probably has enough for both single and multi player that would make each worthy of being their own game.

I dont think it will be as bad as Halo 3 or COD4, but i think that it could be quite slow as many people may want to try GTA online as they havnt been able to before

You would have to hope that MS has learnt it's lesson, but only time will tell !
Like the majority of people, I'll be focusing on the singleplayer side of things so that I can get the layout of the city first. Then I'll use that knowledge for the multiplayer against my friends etc.

Naa. I doubt the servers would crash, why would we pay for live anyway if the servers were to crash?

What do u think the XBL downtime was for a week ago.
There could be a little lag for the first week but other than that I see it being a good XBL experience unlike when CoD4 was released and bogged XBL for 2 weeks

I doubt it will go down, those MS does suck. Ill probably hop on MP just to try it but I think Ill be like most people and play single first.

Ya live going down due to GTA will never happen because there wont be nearly as many people on as there was for Halo 3 release because GTA will never come close to Halo 3 sales
