i preordered a month ago online and they i always get games from them a day early than release day but i didn't get gta iv today

I think they are being very careful with this release since apparently some of the major retailers signed contract with Rockstar stating that they will do the utmost not to break the release date.

Even on online orders that are typically delivered a day before release, and even staff to high street retailers (like myself) that can't purchase the game until midnight.

You will see it in your letter box Tuesday morning I'm sure :D

Brian, the UK is a little bit smaller than the US. Next day is actually pretty common. If I ordered something now, I'd get it tomorrow.

I ordered mine from HMV.co.uk (cause they gave 1000 free MS Points instead of GAME's 500, hehe), and they've sent all GTA:IV's as Special Delivery apparently (the one that gets here before 9am)... but they sent it out on Thursday, and it still hasn't arrived... so I'm thinking all the retailers have probably done something to make Royal Mail delay delivering it until tomorrow!

I got really excited when I thought it was gonna be here on Friday... but ah well, not long now!!

I have pre ordered the special edition from hmv.com. and it was shipped on saturday night so it should hopefully be here tomorrow before 9.

I heard a strange thing from a GAME employee the other day - iirc..

..if you selected 'free shipping' (5-day?) you would receive it today, if you selected next day delivery (£5) you will receive it tomorrow. Strange that the people who paid extra for delivery get it a day later but I guess it has to do with when they expect it to arrive with you.

I guess that free shipping would take longer so they posted out earlier than the ones who opted for next day.

I can't say how accurate this may be but it sounds like this is whats happened (I ordered from Gamestation and plan on just picking it up in store).

Thought this was the case, thats why i questioned you in another thread u made on GTA cheats, GTA IV is one of those games with one release date world wide which is most likely why they are strict on this release.

Yeah i'm concerned as well mine was shipped on the 24 and i was given my tracking number and right now at 23:10 on the 28th it has not reached the dispatch center :mad:

I have mine pre-ordered from Gameplay.com (UK member here) and I got an email on Saturday saying that it was in transit.

I hope that it's here tomorrow (29/04/08) otherwise I'll be annoyed. I might be able to get a 2nd copy from Tesco's on my way to work in the morning though...... Might just get the 2nd copy and then try and sell it on eBay when the other one does turn up.

It came up on my play.com account as sent on the 23/04/2008 but i did'nt get an e-mail from them. Now its been changed to the 28/04/2008 and i got the e-mail today at 7.55am.

I'll be pretty pissed if it does not come tommorow as i ordered almost 2 months ago now.

according to someone on the Official 360 forums, HMV have actually sent them 1pm Special Delivery not 9am (they said that's what their's was labelled as)... and it was delivered by the normal postman... :mad:

Ha ha - you and me both mate - its the first time I have ever ordered from Game but ShopTo and Play had stopped taking orders.

The Game website said "order from us and you be amongst the first in the country to play GTA IV" and if it doesnt come today - that will clearly be a lie!

Maybe im getting too angry too soon - it may well still turn up...

Ive been in contact with amazon all morning and they are basically telling me "too bad" they are deining that a pre-order means that it should be there on the day of release and it just means you are sure to get one eventually, even though the site said that delievery on day of release IF you pre-order, complete disgrace

Yeah, Amazon's estimated delivery when I had my preorder with them was 1-5 May! I changed to HMV and got the specal edition for about £10 cheaper, and it arrived just now! Amazon suck, I think I won't be using again either!

TBH i feel completly hard done by its pure laziness, they are claiming that they only recieved the pre-order copies of GTA today and thats the reason it isnt being delievered today, which i dont believe for one second, im sure R* wants all of the gamers to get the game on time and I am planning on mking them aware of what amazon are doing and i urge anyone else that has been duped by this to join me in e-mailing R* as im sure they wouldnt be happy with alot of gamers not getting the game they ordered

Preordered the special edition as soon as it was available on game.co.uk abd mine arrived this morning at 8.20 just as I was getting up.

Mind you, that was a parcel and so was not sent through the same channels as the regular edition would have been.
