How to tell which levels you've got gold in?

How do you tell which levels I've got gold in so I know which ones to go back and complete?

Is it also possible to continue a game on normal into hard mode or would I need to create a new save and start again.

Doing this from memory not played this in a while but when to scroll through the mission select screen you can tell what rating you got by one of the dolls at the bottom it will be bronze, silver or gold

If you want to change the difficulty you will haft to start a new game cant change it half way through
