Rose returning = poor storyline move.
i liked the idea she was marooned in another universe, but now that she is back it kind of spoils the effect the end of series 2 had.

Doctor Who - good.
Torchwood...not. :)
Watched the first series of Torchwood and really wasn't impressed. I gave the first episode of the 2nd series a watch and didn't bother with the rest. The main issue being, that since we know Jack is the Face of Boe (spell), we know that he's not going to die until sometime in the distant future. When you make your main character invincible, you remove all tension from peril scenes - bit like Neo in the second Matrix film.
Enjoying the new series of Doctor Who and happy with the new companion, Donna - great comic relief compared to Martha.

Both shows are good tv in my opinion. Got into Doctor Who first and then Torchwood caught my eye.
This series has been ok so far, definitely gotten better than it was at the start. Still can't decide which episode is the best so far....either Pompeii or Ood.
Torchwood has definitely gotten better in series 2...I liked the episodes with James Marsden in, especially the final one. Can't believe Tosh and Owen died. And with Jack apparently not coming back, it doesn't sound good.

The word dust seemed to be common in the first two episodes of the new series as well, although I've not seen them since. That Sontaran 2-parter was a bit weak I thought.

Dust? I don't pay enough attention hehe. Although now that I think about the 2nd episode, it is quite hard not to mention dust and its variants when the centre of the story is an erupting volcano. :p

Did anyone notice the red ring of death in the background of the Sontaran teleporter. I also liked the "Are you my mommy?" reference when the doctor put on the gas mask.

In the first episode during the press conference the camera changed to focus on the spacenanny, and just behind her all you could see was the word dust on the presentation screen - even though some other wording had been there all along.
The Roman dad then said it in the 2nd episode (but as you said, it'd be hard not to). :)

Yeah the "Are you my mummy?" thing was a nice nod to the other episode :)
Oh I didn't notice the presentation board behind her. But how can dust be related to the finale? Anyone got any ideas? Maybe something to do with Rose being able to come through, or her image at least.

its strange that rose keeps popping up in the episodes, its probably similar to bad wolf or is another part of it.
i do have to say that torchwood was/is a bit pants to me, only character i liked was the one who sort of died, owen i think.
one last thing, am i the only person who prefered eccleston to david tenant?
i have no idea why thought, he just seemed better

I wish Eccleston would of stayed on longer, but I think Tenant is a good replacement.

My main problem with Torchwood was that since it was meant to be for an adult audience, most episodes revolved around one of them trying to sleep with either another character or an alien every week.
I liked Eccleston, but Tennant brings a better energy to the show - a bit like Peter Davidson did as the 5th. I just wish Tennant wouldn't leave his mouth open all the time - watch his dialogue and he keeps his mouth open at the end of sentences - it's weird. :)

The Doctor discovers a laboratory which has been experimenting with his DNA. They've used it to create something so shocking, so unimaginably evil that it will scare you to the root of your core, destroy your faith in the Whoniverse and give you nightmares for years to come. They create the Doctor's daughter. NB: He'll probably find out about this at a scientific establishment wearing his James Bond tuxedo. There'll be lots of explosions and running around and probably a computer graphic monster or two. Think Alien 4 meets James Bond.

The Doctor and Donna land on a library planet in the 51st century that had been abandoned 100 years ago. The library contains trillions of books each showing the future history of individuals. Histories that haven't happened yet. The Doctor and Donna encounter dead bodies, data ghosts, the Suit Creature, Vashta Nerada (piranhas of the air – shadows that melt the flesh) and archaeologist Professor Bernice Summerfield - oops sorry - I mean Professor River Song played by Alex Kingston. At the end of part 1 Donna is separated from the Doctor and finds herself in a mysterious hospital administered by Irving Braxiatel - oops sorry - I mean Doctor Moon. Turlough, oops, I mean Donna starts receiving strange images of a girl with blond hair. The girl's name is Rose and she warns Donna of a plan by the Daleks and an old enemy of the Doctor's to destroy her universe.

The Doctor finds out about the messages from Rose but can't do anything about it when suddenly the alternate reality holding Mickey, Jackie and Rose collapses, sending them back to their original universe.
Confirmed that this final story will feature Rose, Mickey, Pete, Jackie, Sarah Jane, Captain Jack, Martha Jones and K9 as well as Donna and the Doctor. Gwen and Ianto from Torchwood also make a brief appearance. It'll also feature Davros played by Julian Bleach. It is likely to feature Sontarans and Daleks in a war as well as other aliens in a final gobsmacking battle.
Davros has been located by Caan and he is helping the Dalek to create a new race of Daleks. In a shock development in the final episode, a Dalek casing opens to reveal Harriet Jones, played by Penelope Wilton, the mother of all the new Daleks.
The Daleks have enslaved 21st century London, but which London?
Rumoured to feature the newly created daughter of the Doctor.
It's also possible the Master will be back in this episode, manipulating everything from behind the scenes, through Donna.
Somewhere in this story, the Doctor and co travel to an alternate future with the Daleks running the world and greenhouse gases at an all time high.
This would also be story number 200 as well as a story for the 45th anniversary so Russell will probably pull out all the stops.
The final scenes, revealed in released pictures awhile ago, suggest that the Doctor is involved in a freak explosion which splits him into two Doctors, and Sarah, Jack, Martha, Rose and Donna try to put him back together.
This is believed to be a crash and burn story which wipes out almost anything that Russell T Davies has had a hand in creating in the past few years so that the new producer can start with a clean slate, so to speak.
Message for RTD. PLEASE PLEASE don't make any of these stories a global warming story. While most people on Earth think it's carbon causing the increasing temperature the Doctor would KNOW it is just the sun's solar cycle. If there's anything about carbon/global warming, please let it be the other characters who say it.
At least Stargate Atlantis included an off-the-cuff remark to confirm to viewers they were going to stick to the facts - "Rodney: This isn't some kind of cyclical climate change..."

I quite enjoyed the giant wasp episode...it broke things up nicely. I still find Catherine Tate very annoying though... poor old David Yennat had to kiss her in this episode...I'd rather have kissed the wasp!!!!
Bring back Rose or Martha quick...

I must admit I like Catherine tate over Martha, but Rose has definitely set herself as possibly the best ever companion. Would like to see a bloke on board as a regular who didn't fancy anyone else on board. The love triangles are starting to grate.

That has to be one of the best episodes of this series and definitely the best Doctor-lite episode. I wondered last week where this series Doctor-lite episode was, and then only realised halfway through tonight's, that that was it.
What did you guys think? I liked how they showed all the alien events from past episodes and how Donna reacted to them. But one thing got to me, during the actual Titanic episode, the Doctor kept saying that it's not just the people onboard who would die, but the 6 billion on the planet below. But in this episode only the south of England has its population wiped out? I know there wouldn't be a story after that if the whole planet died when the ship hit, but it was just something I noticed straight away.
