How do I subdue someone who is on a horse?

All I have been able to do is shot him off it dead for 10 when I would prefer 15 bucks, but I can't subdue him while hes on horseback and I can't get him off without him being dead....

Whats funny is I tried to do that, shot at the horse and instead he still died. But I'll try again thanks.

oh, well it worked for me just make sure your not hitting him along with the horse

thats how i had to do it, i would shoot low at the horse and the horse would collapse and i would run up and subdue him.
