How do you get into theMagisterium?

This is driving me crazy how do you get in there? I have beaten the boy at running and he has supposedly told me how to get in there, all the journal says is something about the basement but i can still not figure out how to get in there. I hate this game.

Edit: please close this post i have figured it out, talk to the boy then go back to the docks.....
