what plane to use for mission 9 MG only?

Ive tried using virutally every plane to kill the heavy command cruiser with the machine gun, and i cant ever hit it and end up getting shot down or crashing into it. im about the shelve this game because this medal is the only one left that i need and its becoming idiotic.

so whats the trick? what plane, angle of attack, etc should i be using?

I haven't played this game in a while, nor have I tried that mission with just the machine gun, so I'll try and do the best that I can to help.

I would recommend using either the CFA-44 or the A-10. Come in low at an upward angle and keep your wingman covering you.

ok just to let you know, i heard that if u hit the cockpit with a missile first, then finish it off with MG fire, it still counts as a kill with MG fire and u should get the medal provided every other mission youve used MG to deliver the killing blow...

i shot one missile over the course of the 15 missions and used MG the entire rest of the time and i didnt get the medal on normal difficulty.

this sucks. im shevling this stupid game

This particular medal took me a while to get too, but I think I used the A-10. Just make sure that you evade all missiles and aim high at him, the MG isn't very accurate. I think I changed the view to cockpit for eaiser aimining, kinda...

I used the A-10 for this mission. It only took me one time to go through it on normal. Just fly above the target and then dive down onto it with your machine gun firing away. It did take me several passes to finally get it, just be patient and just repeat what you did when you get the hit indicator. Hope this helps.

Strangely enough, if you are flying ABOVE parallel with the cruiser, you can tap down to tip your nose to shoot the sweet spot. That's how I did it with the A-10 at least. I had a hard time doing that from below, but you can hit the cockpit from above, you just have to hit that sweet spot.

I'm definitely going to play on Easy when I go through the 15 missions using only the machine gun for this reason, haha.

u have to beat it in normal or higher to get the medal.

Use the A-10 and come down from above. It will take a few passes/restart check point, but I did get all the medals for this game. The A-10 with the armor killing cannon though out the campaign. You will get really god at killing targets with the cannon. The last level is real fun. Make sure you play on normal or it wont count.

I am wondering why you just don't let your allies kill the cokpit (allied assault or wingman attack (push up on d-PAD)).
I'm not at this type of challenge (Now planning on killing of the aces (1 remaining on chandelier))

I was wondering how much ennemy you must MG for the gold MG medal because i heard 200 but i think i have already more than 200 (the 14th mission with the missile helps a lot ...

I believe it's 500 for the gold.

As for the allies not doing anything... They want you to have the glory i suppose: \

One of the best planes for getting the MG medal is the Tornado. Why? Use the ECM pod as your special weapon, and you can keep missiles out of your afterburner while you plink away at the targets. The F/A-18 also has an ECM pod, but the Tornado is a much better plane. The CFA-44 also has an ECM pod and is better than the Tornado, but you may not have this plane yet.
