Alex Kidd tips?

Anyone have a tip on how to beat Alex Kidd in his singles tournament? I've breezed through almost every other challenge and for some reason this guy is giving me trouble. I've used Pudding through just about every challenge because I like control characters, who should I use against Alex Kidd?

I used Shadow(speed). At first i used AiAi but he wasnt reaching kidds balls in time. so i switched to shadow. now for the service game i moved shadow in the middle, then serve. Kidd hit alot of smashable balls on my service game, which made it kind of easy. I just tried to make him go deep in corners on my serve game, and hit opposite each time. On Kidds service game i moved back a little cuz his serves were annoying. hit it back to him, then start to approach the net. I destroyed his service game with volley.

i used sonic all you need to do is work him left to right and so on do lob balls and weak hit backs because hes slow x+a is weak shot a+x is lob i think

Thanks for the help, guys. I finally beat him (took probably 10 tries) and it sure as hell was a fight. I would like to beat that little turd's head in after all the stupid crap he pulled on me. Thanks again. BTW I used shadown and like you said, served to the middle and made him pop it up quite a bit. His service game I never beat him, but got a little better. When he hits to to the corners its damn hard to hit it and hit it slow enough to get back toward the middle before he slams it to the other side.

Yeah i really hated going against him too. Every time he scored his high pitched voice irritated me. Kind of like those annoying kids on halo 2/3 haha. Good job on beating him :woop:

I got so frustrated playing this little punk! I finally was able to pass him with an A but I give up for now trying to get AAA...can't stand his stage :(

Yeah Alex Kidd was one of the hardest to get ^^^ on. I ecommend Dr Robotnek or Eggman as they call him these days he has the best special attack move out of all the players makes it way to easy to get the ^^^

Another bit of advice, make sure to line yourself up with the ball before hitting it. Like make sure you're directly behind it before pressing A/X. This way you'll get a smooth return, and you won't have a delay before you can start running again. If you press A/X when you're too far from the ball, you will still hit it back... but you'll most likely fall over as you dive for the ball. And when you do this, Alex will smash it to the opposite side of the court. With the long recovery time after your dive, you'll never make it to the other side of the court in time.

Especially if you're NOT using a speed character. I'd always used Amigo, and his brute strength was enough to breeze through most of the other tournaments. Even if I dove for the ball most of the time, it wasn't an issue to smash it to the opposite end from my opponent and win. But once I got to Alex Kidd the first time, I needed to make sure I was good at getting right behind the ball. He forces you to actually learn the tennis aspect of the game correctly, haha. Much like Jet Set Radio forces you to hone your aiming skills.

Well put, couldnt have said any better he does force u to get into that tennis mood if u havent a clue the basic of tennis. It gets u ready for the ranked because there is a lot of good ppl out there. Have fun enjoy:drunk

I used Gillius and served and volleyed and returned and volleyed on his serve. Be sure and use X and not A on the volleys because X will keep them in bounds, A will send them long and you will have to start over for AAA. Also Gillius' special move usually wins the point.

Thanks for the tips...I pretty much gave up on this game at the moment and only have 1 day left on my rental before they start charging me. I never knew about being behind the ball and thats probably why I can never get AAA. I am pretty good at all the mini games even the jet set radio I have AAA for the perfect tags but the matches are where I struggle lol.

Yep. I used Tails for this one. Just kept spinning the ball away from him.

Okay I'm at a complete loss, this is without a doubt one of the hardest things I've seen in a 360 game to date.

How in god's name do you even score a point on this little piece of @#$@, let alone beat him. I've hit perfect serves at him only to have them perfectly returned to a spot I can't get to (using Shadow, who's about the fastest character). Or better yet, when I'm lined for the shot mashing the a button and he fails to swing. Or better yet, the cross-court shot and he goes from one side to the other and hits a perfect return that moves faster than any shot I can hit. Control character my ass, more like control, power, and speed combined.

Any tips would be appreciated, including tips on how to hit the various shots and when/why you would hit them.

Edit: naturally after posting this I did it. Used Pudding and tended to hang around center of middle court. Still just barely beat him, held serve on 1st set, then lost 2nd set, then held on 3rd, then lost on 4th, and eeked out the tiebreak 9-7. I tried to keep shooting from side to side, varying between A and X for the shots. No real pattern, just persistence, and using all of my willpower not to go insane from rage at the little twerp pulling off another impossible to return shot.

I really don't know what to do. I've used Gillius, Shadow, Sonic, Beat, Pudding, Ulala, Amigo, Tails, Robotnik and still not joy! It is doing my head in! I've been so close to serve my 360 out of the window! I respect that the game has been way too easy and now it teaches you how to play tennis properly, but jesus! Way too hard!

Every shot he does I always end up hitting it in a lob out of the court. I can't figure out how to control it! HELP! :(

UPDATE - I have just beaten the little tard with Ulala. I just stayed back, never did more than 3 stars for a serve and just knocked it into the corners. I cant beleive it was that simple after all those tries!

Yeah he gave me a battle too. Lots about 3 times and finally got him with Shadow.

Was nice to see the 50 gamerpoints I got after that though. :woop:

I got my AAA on this a few days ago. I used Dr Eggman. I had no problem at all beating him when i was serving but i loosed many point when he got the serve. My only advice is when he serve from left to right take a few steps back and return the ball hard straight down your right side. That forces him to run and give you the entire left side to aim for. That worked for me 3 times in a row but it never worked when i he serve from right to left.

You absolutely have to use a POWER Character.I tried so many times with Shadow, no luck.

I beat him fairly easily with Gillius, basically doing drop shops to the bottom right hand side of the court, then volleying his return to the opposite side of the court.
