Power shots?

So... maybe I'm dumb, but I'm stuck on the mission of Curien Mansion where you have to use powerful shots to knock down eight large zombies.

I know that pressing X or A individually makes you it the ball, and when I press them together, I just keep lobbing it. I've been using Gilius, and when I press and hold A to hit the ball, he hits it a bit harder than usual, and I can knock down the large zombies maybe 40% of the time. But is there some other button combination I'm missing that gives you a more powerful shot?

It's simple, just hold an A for a second or two and you'll make a power shot, the longer you hold A the stronger the shot will be :)

The key to this is just hit the bull after it bounces, this will be more of a powerful shot, I didn't hold down any buttons, just tapped 'a' at the right time and I did this first time.
