They changed all the voices. I loved all the voices of the first game, they fit perfectly (especially Grunberg's). I heard that Greg Grunberg wanted to return as Ethan Thomas, but they wanted a darker voice. Why? The new voice sucks. Grunberg's was awesome.

Because people don't realize that if fans like something, it should be left the way it is. For some reason, humanity has a need to try to improve something that is fine just the way it is.

Dude,if you read about it,they wanted to have a new voice for Ethan because his life completely changed. His look and his actions. The old voice just wouldn't fit the look of the 'now' Ethan.

It doesn't make sense that they should change his VOICE. Just his actions, emotions and lines.

The voice would've been fine, IMO. Sure, Ethan is now a lot darker than he was in the last game, but why change voices?
As the saying goes, if ain't broken, don't fix it.
EDIT: Plus, if they wanted to change it, why not get a better voice than the one they got? This voice sucks.

I haven't gotten to the point in the game with SKX, but I hope so. Everyone else has different voices...

I think that they should have kept the same voices AND the same character appearances. When I first saw stuff for this game, I thought that we were playing as someone else. The character's looks could have been improved a little bit, and the voices should have remained the same also.
P.S. MrDudeMan, your signature scares me. :D

I know, especially Rosa. And my sig? The killer sheep? Watch the movie Black Sheep (not the David Spade/Chris Farley movie), its awesome. Its like a zombie movie, but with sheep.

Still, the good thing is that I never bought Condemned:Criminal Origins so now I don't have a stubborn-of-change,fanboyish spirit! :woop:

Personally, I think they fit... I don't think it's a reason to dislike the game though... I don't see why so many people are complaining about the voices.

Well i played and finished the first game a while back... like over a year ago... and i loved everything on it, including the voices...
But NOW i dont really remember the voices on the first game! i know i loved the game and knew Condemned 2 was going to be a must buy for me... but i only finished the game once... (repeating some levels for achiv.)
I really like the voices in this one too... but i truly cant really find any difference on them, unless played back-to-back
But i also agree that they should have kept them the same as in the first game... they are called voice ACTORS... Acting a darker voice should have worked just fine

I don't dislike the game, I love it. Just the whole 'voice' thing sort of pissed me off.

I played the original so long ago that I can't even remember his old voice. So no problems for me. Does anyone else think that the "old" Ethan was not really a good fit overall for the gameplay?? He's basically an FBI guy who's pretty clean-cut and he just starts getting crazy grabbing pipes and sledgehammers and messing up all these insane bums?? It was always kinda off to me. The new Ethan is perfect for what he's involved in IMO.

If only Mike Patton were here, he could help.

Hah, too true. Mike Patton is awesome. Listen to some of the later Faith No More albums, he gets really crazy in them. He was perfect in the Darkness.

Greg Grunberg did a fine job in the first game, and I disagree that he couldn't pull a "darker" sounding Ethan. That said, I like Ethan's new voice actor as well, he pulls off just the right amount of drunken swagger that Ethan should have.
Is SKX still the same voice actor? I sounds like it could be, but since the actor is purposely slurring his speech, its hard to tell.

The new voice for Ethan didn't bother me nor did the new look as they both were given explinations but Rosa!!! come on she's a whole new person.

this has nothing to do with the voices but its something i think is weird about the game.
this could be a spoiler for some people.
how come after you beat condemned 1 it shows ethan turning into some sort of demon and then in condemned 2 all he can do is shout and things heads explode? i think they could of went with something better than that, but i guess we'll see what happens in condmened 3.

i think one reason why so much stuff is different in condemned 2 could be because they probably weren't planning on making another one. im sure as hell glad they did though.

Pretty much everyone has covered what I think about Grunberg not returning to voice Ethan. I don't mind the new voice, but I would have liked if they stuck closer to the original. Regardless of whether Ethan was a happy FBI officer or a crazy alcoholic, he would still have the same voice.
And Rosa? Yeah, that change is obviously ridiculous.

Ethan saw alot of things in Condemned 1 that weren't exactly real, so it's not unreasonable to think the part at the end was just more hallucinations.

i think nostalgia's got the better of alot of people in here.
the voice acting especially of ethan wasn't good in the first
this one is much better even though the beginning talking with the bum had me worried (worst scene in the entire game)

They changed the voices because the acting in the original was horrible. Any other reason is just fluff.

Well in order to become one of the oro (The metal things) and Ethan obviously hasn't had them inplanted so him turning into one of them in the end of the first game was obviously a vision

the Ethan voice was kind of corny at some times with the stuff that he said, but for the most part he did a great job, like in the execution sequences. Sometimes he literally said the exact same thing that I did when he whacked somebody. I think its mainly the people that make up the sub characters that were crappy. Frickin news reporter lady anybody?

I only read the first post and nothing else.
The reason they wanted a darker voice was to show Ethan is a washed up, alcoholic cop who is on the verge of quitting. And to use the same person would be more realistic.

in Condemned 2 everything about Ethan is supposed to have changed. Using the same kind of voice he had in the first would have sounded alittle out of place imo.
