View Full Version : Combo meter: how important ?

I'm on the dollhouse level and at the start of this level it told me my combo meter was at 19/30 (meaning I need 11 more to get another upgade).

How important is it to constantly boost this up? Didn't know if I really needed to be at a certain level to have a good shot at taking out enemies much harder later in the game.

And can anyone answers these questions for me:

1- do you get to keep you combo meter even when you die and restart at a checkpoint? I could have sworn that it didn't take away any of my combos and just kept adding to them (but I could be losing my mind)

2 - does activating the slow mo beatings where you hit RT trigger, then RT or LT then both triggers, count as a combo ?

3 - what is the most effective combo? For me it is sprint and attack, back off, block then attack. Rinse and repeat. Probably not the best and sometimes tedious, but seems to get the job done most of the time.

Thanks for your help :woop:

To my knowledge after playing through several levels, the combo meter at the bottom of the status report after each level is just the progress on the achievement in which you have to perform a level 1, level 2, and level 3 combo kill/attack with both left and right attacks.

In other words, when one bar is full, you need to perform that attack initializing it with the right punch five times and the left punch five times. You will need to fill up the combo boxes each attempt.

To answer your questions: yes, the combo meters should still be full after you die. No, the slow-mo killing is using up the combo meter and if you fail, your meter does not drop ... it only drops the combo bars when you are successful. As for the most effective, I like using the parry-to-hook combo as it does 4x damage and is just as easy as the parry-to-punch combo.

*See below if you are looking to do the 30 combo achievement*

For anyone looking to do this fast, the best way that I found is to go into the practice fight club mode and setup the practice with Thug, One at a Time, Firearms, and Debris and then proceed to kill people using the Assault Rifle that has unlimited rounds to kill people and fill up the combo meters. When it reaches the needed level (Say combo level 2) pick up a brick to drop the Assault Rifle and then initialize the combo. Rinse and repeat from there. Not too tough to do and takes about 15 - 30 minutes to do all 30 depending on how fast and accurate you are with the Assault Rifle.

I need some 30 combo help.

I've done over 5 each with the combo bar at 1, 2 and 3.

But it doesn't seem to be any different if I throw a left or right punch?

And is there a way to check you status on what you have left to do for it?

Yes, main menu > extras > achievements.
