I cant believe what the Pistol thread has turned in to. Its honestly really offensive and upsetting. I dont understand why anyone felt the need to start bashing our gun laws, because if you dont live here then what concern is it of yours? It turned from questioning and ridiculing our laws to complete bashing of cultures and history. Its just so surprising to see what some of you decide to say. You cant honestly read that thread and say that we were the ones who started this fight.

Ive always loved how this site brought so many different cultures together. It was insightful, interesting, and enjoyable meeting people from other countries. But after reading that thread I dont think I have ever felt more insulted and unwelcome here. And because of that I honestly dont know if I want to post here anymore. I dont think I want to be part of a community like what this one has become.

The UK people were questining the gun laws- as to why a 15 and a 17year old were talking about the guns that they own.

Then Erton jumped in and basically told the Brits that he thought he was better cos he was an American.

Nobody wants anyone to leave the forum, and in a way its better to have people with strong opinions then it is to have sheep.

Honestly, younger people talking about guns has nothing to do with loose gun laws. 15 year olds dont actually own guns. I can guarantee you that it falls on the respnisibility of the parents. If a parent wants to raise their children with a responsible knowledge of how to properly use and care for a firearm then who are you to question their parenting techniques. It has nothing to do with criminals illegally obtaining guns. It is possible for younger people to be responsible with firearms. Nobody here was talking about carrying around loaded guns in public or wanting to harm others. Collecting guns is a legitimate hobby that if handled in a responsible manner will not be something that needs to be ridiculed because your country doesnt allow it.

This thread shows the distinct lack of gun control in the States...

And it's this apparent lack of gun control that is the single reason that America's gun death's per year are 100 times higher than most economically advanced countries!

Well if thats the attitude then no wonder the US is in shit state.

Pissed up and driving when he's not allowed to for whatever reason with a bag of drugs and a lethal weapon. Oh no its not that bad is it?
So theirs no chance he could have killed someone then?

Nor me you yanks have gats:uzi:;)

Your not gonna take your gun are you?

Just joking:nana

Those were all posts BEFORE Erton's. The thread was about Pistols and Every post that came from your side was criticizing how America has decided to handle an issue and I feel like it was uncalled for. And honestly how can you not expect someone to get defensive about it when your bashing our laws and essentially the Constitution that allows this freedom. The thread was dragged completely off topic right from the first page. It was absolutely uncalled for.

i just want to say that i find very ignorant for citizens of another country arm chair quarterbacking our beautiful country. i have been to europe, i have been to some of the nicest places in the world, and there is nothing wrong with the US. Europe does not complain when they need the US's help. Tony Blair is a george bush puppet...remember that...that is the leader of your (pointing at brits) country...

why am i talking about countries... because everytime a non american tries to tell me whats wrong with MY country its a fucking insult... We fought the British back in the day for the very reason that we can decide how we want to live our lives... i want one of you Brits to come live in small town anywhere inthe US... you dont know shit about our country, and you dont know shit about our lives... so shut the fuck up.

and dont give me murder statistics...shit happens.... if no one died the world would be full..

write that down.

This was Erton's first truly defensive post and honestly I cant believe that you wouldnt post something similar if we started bashing your laws and saying that you would be better of doing things our way which is essentially what you were doing.

I dont know if you are familiar with Prohibition but in the U.S. there was a time where alcohol was completely banned. What did that result in? Incredibly high crime rates. That sort of thing is exactly what you could expect if you were to just ban one of our constitutional rights.

Everything after Erton's post was incredibly insulting and thats what brought me to how I feel now. People that I considered to be awesome members here and more than that, friends, are sitting here bashing my country and my ancestors. It really just puts me off from posting anymore.

Wow! I've missed alot... :p

Firstly, Franco, my comment was as Minty said, the fact that there was a thread with a 15yr old and a 17yr old talking about their favourite pistol. And the amount they knew and the amount they had already used absolutely shocked the ass off me. To ask a 15yr old and a 17yr old in England, that question, they would say a supersoaker :p (a huge fuck off water pistol).

That triggered me off to bring up a few stats from "Bowling for Columbine". And then *bang* erton flips.

I like strong views and arguments... There was a "Gay Marriage" thread the other week where people discussed whether they deemed it acceptable. People said there peace and life moved on there.

Don't get down Franco, we're still a community, just one with a lot of strong opinions. All i'm saying is...

GOD BLESS DEMOCRACY OTHERWISE WE WOULDN'T HAVE THE ABILITY TO SPEAK ABOUT THIS SO FREELY :D

Yeah i said that- as its what you said in your post. I believe the qords were along the lins of 'You just wish you were American'. That to me means you imagine your better than me.

You are entiltled to freedom of speech Minty. And you should be glad to have that freedom because where you live you are entitled to it. Just like in the states we have the freedom to keep and bear arms.
An argument was made that it was ridiculous that 15 and 17 year olds would know so much about guns. Well, at the age of 12 years old, we are of age to hunt. My father took me to a 2 day class when I was 12 years old to learn gun safety so that he could share a pastime with me. I enjoyed years of going hunting with my father, and still do. We would hunt deer, pheasant, grouse, duck, and geese. We had a lab that we also got trained to hunt and we always had a great time together. Whatever we shot we always brought home and ate. This is a great pasttime for fathers and sons in this country and without our freedom to bear arms, I would have never experienced this.
Guns aren't just used to kill people. They're used for other things as well, such as hunting or competition shooting. Some people collect guns as well, as a hobby.
Like Franco, I was also a little disgusted but I realize that in the heat of the moment things can be said that might not normally be said. I for one am not extremely offended, because in the end, these arguments won't change a damn thing in the real world. Like I said before, we're all defensive about our countries, and we should be. No one should fault anyone because they are. But what you should do is keep in mind that when you start pointing fingers and calling names and the like, you're not going to get your point across. All that does is make the opposing party more defensive. Everyone just needs to chill out and take a breather. We're supposed to be friends here, helping each other in a mutual love for the Xbox 360 achievements. Off topic discussions are obviously a big part of these forums as well, but we need to keep a level head when it comes to controversial issues. This isn't the first time this site has seen an argument thread, and it won't be the last. For now, let's just all agree to disagree. This subject has worn its welcome with me.

just to clear something up, in the states you have to be 18 to own a shotgun or rifle, and 21 to own a pistol, so we (me and maslan) dont actually own guns, unless the laws are a little different in illinois then he may have guns in his name.

so please people no more flaming over the subject.

Minty
07-13-2006, 10:05 PM
The way Maslan is talking is that he OWNS the guns.

g4m3r7ag
07-13-2006, 10:09 PM
well if you look in the other thread, that 18c isn't a properly registered firearm, so its not in anybodys name, so since he paid for it, i guess he would own it, but not according to our laws, but i would assume his parents allowed him to buy it, unless he's living on his own, then its his own damn choice as to whether or not to buy the gun.
