I've been ok until now just twisting and turning away but I am getting owned every time on the strategic mission in area 5. I have to destroy 6 planes which i can do with ease as they dont fire at you. After the cutscene, I have to kill 4 more. I am constantly getting locked onto by the yellow planes and no matter what I do, i get blown up.

Ive tried making huge loops and sharp turns whilst hitting B but the flares are useless and no matter what, the missiles hit me. Ive been stuck here for AGES at the exact same place but even if i dodge 1 missile, another is fired at me seconds later.

Any tips on completing this mission or dodging missiles?

Any help appreciated!

hi, can't relly remember which one this is. maybe the one where you have to shoot the 2nd swarm of planes over the sea?
anyways. most of the time you have to stick with your fellow fighters (the ones in light blue). they will shoot down more than your wingman and they don't need you to tell you everything.

how to dodge a missile:
it's actually shown quite good in the manual. a missiles shows as a small dot on the left radar. turn, so you're facing away from it. then wait until it's near (zoom factor 2.5) now the missile will reach you. if you see LAUNCH on your HUD it means it's a radar guided missile if there's only the beeeeeeeeeep it's a infrared one. for the infrared ones you have to shut off your afterburner or the missiles will not take your flares as you. this means drop thrust below 100.
then, as soon as the missile dot reaches the silhouette of your plane on the radar, start hitting B and pull up. keep hitting B. ps i usually change to the 'behind plane' view to see how the flares/chaffs are dropped so i can readjust my heading.
ps the F-15 fighters are almost every time hitting me when they get to shoot. so don't let them or the x-35c planes target you.

pps the game is really alot about team work. you target a plane, then you let your wingman take him down (back button, then change with left trigger to ATTACK.) as soon as he confirms this single target you can change to the next one and take it down yourself until your wingman is free again (FORM).
on higher difficulty levels you have only limited missiles so learn early on how to use your wingman.

Thanks for helping me, il try again now. I didnt realise you had to target something to get your wingman to attack it.

I finally did it after about 5 hours :D

I ended up shooting about 15 planes aside from the target planes. I shot them before they had a chance to shoot at me.

Thanks anyways Mac
