They're both great, especially the first.

Most people are gonna suggest that you try to move away from confining your sigs to boxes, so try and work on that. The one King James did for you is a perfect example of how great sigs can be if they're not stuck in a rectangle.

And what fonts are those?

Hooray for the Dark Sector one!
I'm not anything special with Photoshop, but I have wanted to make one using that same render for a while now.. I'm just too lazy. :P

This stuff looks good man, especially for just starting.

See you on COD4 on the weekend maybe?

I'm shocked. I expected your first signature to be a black or colored plain background with a render and some text on top.

Nice job. They could use some work but they're really good for a first start.

I can't give out any tips that haven't already been pointed out. Work on them and you'll do fine.

very good start. Alot better than most first sigs. They both look a little blurry though (the text on both and the master chief render). Also, on the master chief one, make the border the top most layer because currently the master chief is on top of it - it looks a bit more polished that way :)

and of course - what everyone will say to you (and i strongly suggest you follow):
1) Download LOADS of brushes and LOADS of fonts
2) Follow as many tutorials as possible
3) Ask for help! If you see someone's style you like, then message them and ask them how they did it!

As for the master chief border, i was sitting with sprostini when i made it and he liked it with him over the border (???) so it was just to spec hehe.

Im browsing deviantart for some more brushes as we speak, love these things ^_^

Alot of the best photoshoppers use default brushes. I wouldn't recommend becoming dependent on custom brushes as it would only ruin your creativity.

But thats just me.

I also recommend just fooling around with photoshop and learning it for yourself. You never forget how to do something if you figure it out yourself. You can always ask for pointers, but becoming dependent on tutorials is just as bad as becoming depending on custom brushes.

Just my two cents though.

Looks pretty freaking amazing, but I am biased because I can't wait for Dark Sector.
To be honest though, changing the font will give you a better chance.
You'll learn that less obtrusive and simpler fonts will make the signature better.
Test is meant to be a tag to let people know you made it, not a major feature of the signature itself.
Kind of like how painters just sign their name or initials at the bottom, not scrawled all over the place.

Or at least that's what I think.

Heh, it does look like a damn good game!!

I felt that the font sorta keeps with the theme but i dunno, we'll see how it goes. A boring font would take from it a bit, maybe downsize it?

You're a pretty good beginner, I must say. If I ever tried to get into this, I would fail this as fast as I first played Dragonforce on expert. You will get better, guaranteed!

The Halo one is a pretty cool one. I hope to see more in the future! :D

They are not to bad .. i like the background on the halo one but somehow master chief doesn't seem to fit with the color scheme and the font .. but i like the pop out dark sector one.

Night Dragon :). T'wwas good playing Rawk Band today with you. Now, onto your signatures . I'll start with your latest, the SOTF 10 entry. It looks AMAZING. The photo looked purdy good to begin with and you took and made it awesome. I think the text could do without the italics but thats just my opinion. The depth is really good in this signature and the light coming through the leaves looks pretty good. I think the rainbow butterflies look good in this signature and it works really well with a kind of rainforest background. Overall I think this is really good to say you haven't been using photoshop for long.

I think instead of the smudging you should do some sort of wind effect. Make that part of the car its own layer and add the wind filter.

Yeah I know about deviantart, great site!! But I had no idea how to find a tutorial about making your render go out your sig! But...i finally found it is called POP-OUT :)! AND I found a tut about it :D! Going to try it tonight!

Or it can be 3:32 :P hahaha. Nice work on that Incredible Perp one you did there that everyone seems to love so much ;) Sick work though. The card on the Gambit one is fantastic. Major step up from Dark Sector to my signature. Did you take photoshop steroids? YOU DID DIDN'T YOU?! Bastard.

By the way, you should toss up the original render of the Hulk to show you made him look so dark. If you request anything from this man people, let it be known that he will some how implement it. The Incredible Hulk render he showed me was kind of cartoony, so I asked him to make the whole signature look dark and broodish, so he did a nice solid job of making me look badass.. I mean hulk. Oh my god I let it out I am the hulk!

a sig that that described one of these topics would be great.

Once Night figures out how to render himself it will be EPIC ! .. I like all of his sigs, but he goes crazy on the smudging a lil too much for my taste .. blend with different techniques you nightdragon you, expand the horizons as they say.

Im embarrased, because there are a few guys on here that posses far more skill and creativity than I will ever have. I'm one of those guys that has the technical ability but no vision. I create what will look good, but has no spark in comparison to say Gaz's work. Who I would say is the best on the site ;)

Because i make sigs, i look at other peoples sigs, to see where i can improve mine...
I have looked at most peoples galleries and posted in alot of them.

Im on here nearly every day have and probably seen about 80% or more of all the sig makers on here. So i CAN say what i said.

You really need to work on blending, depth, and the text.
The text on most of them sticks out a lot and kind of conflicts with the sigs' style.
Some of the sigs look like you just brushed all over the place.

Also, I don't think its fair to say he's the best sig maker on the site when you haven't seen every sig maker on the site, which clearly, no one has.

Firstly, no need to have an arguement guys.

Now:

Text doesn't HAVE to blend. A LOT of my requests actually state that they want visible text. I try wherever possible to blend it though (jappe, evasive, aidank93 for example)

Also, pop-outs are very hard to correctly add depth to. Don't know if you've tried, but it depends on the render. If you have an image that is in essence flat (profile), theres not much you can do to add the illusion of depth. You also don't want to over blur any part of an image that pops out, as it ruins the efffect. Again, a lot of my requests call for pop-out sigs, but I try where I can to make "classic" sigs. Personally I think Aidan's is one of my best.

Also, I don't think you have the right to tell other people I'm not the best. I know I am not the best, I am not saying I am, but let people think what they think. Saying that they cannot is rather harsh don't you think?

I admit I overbrush as well, but as with all of us, I AM still learning...

I don't think it's your place to start criticising a sig maker that is well known throughout the site and is respected greatly. I mean you are telling him that is sigs don't have depth, i haven't seen any of your signatures anywhere on the forums. So before you start criticising anyone of the sig makers on the site show us your work and maybe let us criticise yours. I am an avid sig maker and have had people give me constructive criticsm but there is no need to post something like that.
