Melee Weapons?

I'm curious if you can use melee weapons. I know you can hit them with your gun and all that, but I haven't found any way to use an actual melee weapon. Most of the characters have one on their hip, and I've seen a screenshot with a guy holding a machete. So is there some way to do it, or did they decide to not include this in the game?

you can't use the melee weapons on their hip...but me and a couple other people were saying it would be cool

Why would you use melee weapons? it would just make the game harder, and I never knew you could even hit them with your gun :S

You can melee them by hitting them with your gun, but that's it

All you can do is hit them with your gun thats all.

Yea i saw a knife on my character at the end of a event when the games paused and your score comes up. You can't use it though, its just for looks
