I'd have to put Lost Odyssey in the lead, here. Blue Dragon was perhaps one of the biggest pieces of tripe it has ever been my misfortune to play; I haven't really liked a Final Fantasy since 9, though I've trudged through all of them anyway, hoping that they'd get better. Lost Odyssey, though... ah. Sweet relief. XD

Doesn't top Eternal Sonata as my favorite next gen RPG, though. But it's still a decent second place.

You're comparing it to ANY FF in the series? That's incorrect. Compared to what FF used to be, yeah they're tied. Compared to what it became past 10? LO >>>>> FF.

I would have to agree. The FF series stopped being awesome after 9 or 10 in my opinion. Dont get me wrong Ive been playing FF since VII which is by far my favorite RPG EVER! But the way FF has been going on lately I would have to say Lost Odyssey for the win. It might not top FF 7,8,9 but its next to them. Other than that the game is the best I have seen for the XBOX 360 when it comes to RPGs

basically i would say ff7 and above the pc versions and everything was ok but once ff7 came out they owned but i would say 10,10-2 and 12 was the best in ff but lo owns them now haha :D:P

Every FF up to 9 is awesome, 10 was meh. LO is prolly the best RPG I've played sine FF7.

This has to be a joke. Final Fantasy hands down. :P Lost Odyssey looks pretty neat, though.

FF was a great game/series but saying lo is neat is saying blue dragon was the sh*t which it wasnt but hey we all have our own view :P

I think FF3 on the DS and FF12 on the PS2 was great.

Tough call (nevermind BD, since I haven't played that one yet), but right now I love LO.

Tough call... FF7 was awesome and I think that it will always be my favorite RPG of all time, but LO is rad too.

My favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy VII, so I voted Final Fantasy. However, Lost Odyssey is an amazing game, and comes in second to Final Fantasy VII.

Lost Odyssey is good, but I'd have to say FF games because they seem to invent new systems/formulas in playing an RPG game. I'm not saying Lost Odyssey doesn't have, but a lot of the mechanics been done just revamped a little. The Circle thing where you have to time is pretty cool. But overall, I still think FF edges out on LO. Though LO has a great storyline compared to the latest FF games.

LO > any FF game FFX and since then. But overall I prefer FF, you can't compare one game (as good as LO is) to various titles in the FF franchise.

I love the FF series, but Lost Odyssey is definitely the best RPG for the 360, and seems to me like it has alot of FF influence

Reading this thread has convinced me to get a hold of LO. I saw it at JB today but didnt no what it was about etc. But i saw a review and read in here. I'm excited. For the record, FF was the first RPG i played, so too have it compared as that good. Wow.

Personally my favourite is 7, my first. But i like 6, 9 and 10 alot too. I don;t know why 10 hasnt been so well recived on here. I thought it had a brilliant if, at times slightly confusing, story but it was fun.

12 was shit. Boring as hell and the combat didn't do it for me. Not to mention i couldn't figure out whether Larsa was a guy or girl for half the game. Eventually i just stopped playing, because it really didnt seem to be going anywhere. Andi think was lacking the romance/love sub plots that really helped push 7-10 along.

Anyway i'm gonna stop rambling. Go out and get the game. Come back and vote.

Well Blue Dragon was AWFUL. And I love Final Fantasy but Lost Odyssey is the winner of the three

Lost Odyssey is a great jrpg that I have truly enjoyed playing, but FF VII and FF X will always be that line of how I judge a RPG.

Overall LO has been a disappointing game for me so far. I've been told that it's the most epic game people have ever played, yet it pales in comparison to certain other games. And where is the brilliant storytelling it's being hailed for? Maybe it was lost in translation.

i loved FF..i have played almost all of them..
final fantasy 7 its the best FF and its still coming out ff7 titles like crisis core..
blue dragon was the turning point of JRPGs on xbox360..it was the 1st JRPG "bomb" on x360..
LO is a great game..its my relic of x360 lol..i loved LO but have one detail that, in my opinion every ff and BD wins..you cant walk in the worldmap..
in the end in my opinion LO and FF7 (not any FF) are Draw in 1st place..then comes BD in 2nd..

I wouldn't be so quick on the gun for a game you've never played. It gives a lot of the FF games a run for their money.

That is because of all the FF7 nut jobs with screen names like Cloud and Sepheroth made it clear that there was an audience for a sequel or a remake. Unfortunately Square has decided to just milk FF7 and screw over the fan base with mediocre spinoffs and prequels that throw a small bone to the fan boys. Honestly...did Seph need to be in Advent Children in such a random non-sensical way?

Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG I have ever played by far. No whinning pubery kids trying to rescue some princess or save the world crap. This game has a deep story. My roomate and I love it so far, only one problem. After I was done playing it for 3 hours the first day I bought it. My roomate began playing it and it's now going on 2+ days and I have yet to be able play it AGAIN! Luckily, he just finished the first disc and is now on the 2nd one.

I get to play on the 1st disc while he is on the second. With FF games though, us 2 would be fighting constantly who plays it lol. Kinda ironic since it's my bloody game but bah, I'm borrowing my roomate's copy of DMC4 atm in return.

I would have to say LO for this one....its a tough choice though.
(i know im going to get criticized for this but oh well) I did not like FFVII, I could not even get past the first disc it just didnt seem to pull me into the story like FFVIII did. That story line to me was so much deeper than what I got out of VII, plus I thought the equipping of skills and spells was alot better than VII.

Lost Odyssey is brilliant. The story is very deep.(I'm only half way through the second disc) The inclusions of the "Thousand Years of Dreams" is to put it simply a brilliant way of telling the back story of the game. It makes you connect to the characters even more. Sure it would of been cool to see it in video form but the text makes it more impacting than just seeing it (this is my opinion)

Blue Dragon even though it was geared to youngin's more than the adults (like LO is) I thought it was an extremely good game. The Story while it was lacking somewhat is the classic tale of Good Vs Evil and the Underdogs rising up and defeating the Upperdog. This game required more thinking to its story line than like Lost Odyssey which pretty muchs throws out the story. There are ALOT of morals underneath the story that if you pay attention and think about the story they come out.

I vote Final Fantasy. Why?

A. I haven't played much of either other game, so I have no right to pass judgment.
B. Can you really top Final Fantasy? Besides X and X2?

Am i the only person who thinks that while FF7 is a great game, that it's storyline was not that great at all. FF6, now that had depth and brought a lot to the series...
The materia system wouldn't exist if it wasn't for 6's Espers system (much like LO's Skill Linking).

I like 7, don't get me wrong but I'd rather play 6 or (*gulp* personal preference) 9 over it. And those saying 10 wasn't that great! Oh wow, 10 was epic. The freedom of the levelling was the most appealing. I FELT POWERFUL.

Anyway LO - excellent game. A bit sluggish at times, which made me get tired of Blue Dragon, but the storyline and the skill learning/levelling makes up for it!! Excellent purchase going into my collection. It'll sit proudly next on my FF shelf :D

Lost Odyssey beats Final Fantasy in my opinion, hands down. Blue Dragon is just plain terrible. But you all have forgotten the best Turn-based RPG ever... The Legend of Dragoon. I seriously loved that game. Its what got me into RPG's in the first place. Plus, it's addition system is just like the ring system in Lost Odyssey.

I was wondering when that game would be mentioned haha!!
I must say, I think the FF series is much better overall.

Legend Of Dragoon was good, but it's storyline wasn't as good as LO, or FF. But again these are just opinions of mine. Though the LoD had a unique story at least!! I enjoyed the game, but the learning of new skills became tedious. In LO, you use your rings without thinking, and you don't neccessarily have to. But in LoD, you HAVE to do the additions well or you'll fall flat on your ass in battle.

But hey!! I loved the game too, Rose was annoying though!! Dart = awesome.

All three titles have their pros and cons.

Final Fantasy has been a long running series, yet it's starting to get a little repetative (The forumla used etc).

Lost Odyssey is far more mature than Blue Dragon and is a refreshing change from what we see in Final Fantasy.

Blue Dragon mirrors Dragon Quest in the way that the characters are visually represented, and the storyline is apparently a little shallow (Haven't found that yet, though) - however what makes this gem shine, is the amazing battle system and customization of characters. :)

Really? I enjoyed LoD's story. It was a little strange but i still liked it. I agree with what you said about the additions though. Without completing it, you were screwed in fights, but in LO, its just for a stupid effect of elemental weakness.

I would say that FF is good, really good imo but anywhere past number X is a big pile of poo!

I never played much of Blue Dragon and do keep meaning to go back to it but I have so much stuff to finish but I didn't think it was that bad really.

LO is really good though. I've played RPG's my entire life and grew up on them so this for me is a must have so I think overall this must be the best as far as next gen RPG's go so I would say LO.

I really like that LoD as well! :P

I voted Lost Odyssey.

I did enjoy Blue Dragon for what it was, and that was a lot of fun. Story/character/gameplay, etc. however Lost Odyssey certainly wins out.

The Final Fantasy series is certainly good, though some games were definately much better than others. Not a very fair comparison however, since FF is a SERIES (which is being compared to single games here), not to mention that none of the FF games are available on the 360 console. (Yet..?)

ok what i heard about BD, it's basically a major screw up and not even worth renting. If you compare LO to FFVII then ill have to go with FF since everything or most things that LO brought to the gaming industry is pulled from FF as far as I can see (note, I havent finished LO yet). FFVII was my fav of all FF's. FFII was also wicked. ButI hated the way thI cried like a baby when Kaim's girl died Q_Q
