Why ON EARTH is this game getting such high ratings?? (avg of 8+) As far as I can tell, it is EXACTLY the same as Over-G(avg of 5 or 6), except it lacks a camera to follow your locked on target, like Over-G. Dont get me wrong, i enjoy this game, but i enjoyed Over-G also. Im just trying to figure out what exactly makes this game superior.

One word...ONLINE. I had a blast with the online. Plan on going back to it here soon. Lots of fun. I agree the single player campaign is average and after the fifth time through for achievements, you pretty much had enough of it.

This game isn't anything like Over-G. Over-G got low ratings because it simply isn't as fun in most people's opinions. I actually prefer AC5 to this one. It's not as realistic for one. You get 400 missiles and your plane doesn't stall when you fly through explosions.

Does the game have real-time damage like Forza 2? Obviously Forza 2 is nothing like real racing after you hit a wall, but like does your plane take damage until it is done or could you get so cripled you bail out to get a new airplane?

No it is not the same as Over-G. And the camera is just fine. Maybe you are looking for arcade-like physics. I enjoyed Over-G but the story, the controls and evidently the delivery of the game is far inferior than AC6 or its earlier titles for the PS2.
The weapons capacity is adjusted to deal with long missions. Realistically speaking, having limited weapon is pretty much insufficient for AC6's long and massive missions.

As i stated, i enjoy the game, but you are kidding yourself if you think it isnt almost exactly the same as OVER-G. As for controls.. This game has way more "arcade" style controls than OVER-G. Even on the hardest difficulties dodging missiles is just a matter of applying airbrake and full thrust while turning.. You dont even use chaff.. On hell mode in OVER-G you get 4 missiles. Then its manual landing time.
I havent played any other ace combats, so i can only compare AC6 and OVER-G, AC5 has no meaning to me.

I gotta agree, I didnt really like the camera when you've locked onto someone. It's annoying doing Hihg-G turns following a guy to find he's gone straight over your head

if the enemy planes were slow and stupid then this game wouldnt be a challenge or very fun at all. they are mimicking moves that you would do in order to stay away from being locked onto.

There is a plane in this game that locks onto 16 targets simultaneously.. Its an easy game..

Lol. You couldn't have real-time damage on an airplane. A single dent in one could throw it off balance. The only difficulty you could do anything to give it dents and scratches would be easy. And you'd do this by bouncing off the ground, or ping-ponging through some telephone wires that you hit on accident. I've done that a few times. And when you're not expecting it, it's pretty funny.

Why did this game get such high ratings? I dunno but it must have something to do with the fact even I'm enjoying it and I hate these god damn flying games.
The story is just plainly amazing and well done too.

If you want to be Correct its not Ace Combat 6 that is like Over G, in fact its Over G that wanted so much to be Like Ace Combat, seeing how Ace Combat is on 6th game, and if you want to get technical its the 7th, and they wont be making an Over G 2 anytime soon that I have seen, And Thank the Lord for that. The Horrible Controls, the Lame Story, and Overall lack of Fun are what make Over G just a Cheap imitation. It is the 50 Cent : Bulletproof of Flight Games.

Very well said. I agree with you all the way.
