I am wanting to update my XBOX Live subscription, and add Microsoft Points to my account.
Is it better doing it online via xbox.com, through the XBOX, or buying cards.??
Do Microsoft also automatically renew subscriptions ,even if you dont want to?

Um... I don't believe MSPoints can be used to buy account subscriptions. They are used to buy downloads in the marketplace.
To update your subscription, you will need to buy an actual Gold card. These range from 1 month to 12 month cards and yes, after you put them in, they will auto-update when your current subscription runs out.

yeah, I play to add microsoft points via my account to but arcade games.
So if I add points tonight, will I get them tonight, and will they upgrade my gold subscription, since my trial ran out?
So, if I buy directly from Microsoft, they send me a card through the post?
Also, if I do buy with them direct, will they still update if I remove my payment option?

lolwut?
To update your Gold Xbox Live Subscription you must buy a Gold Xbox Live Card or subscribe with a credit card via Xbox.com or your Xbox 360 Dashboard.
Microsoft Points will not effect your Gold Subscription. Period.
And yes, when you use a subscription card or MSP card, it updates immediately. Or at least in the case of subscription cards it will wait for your current subscription to run out before activating the next subscription period.
In other words, if you have 7 days left on your current Gold subscription, it will wait those 7 days before activating the next subscription be it 1 month, 3 months or 1 year.

you dont really know what I mean,
If I add my credit card to purchase Microsoft Points, because they know my C.Card details, will they take of £40 to upgrade my subscription, since my trial has ran out?
I know MP's are not able to purchase Live!

I already answered your question then, MSPoints have nothing to do with a Gold subscription.
That includes using your credit card to buy them. You'd have to change your payment options for that.
So, short answer: no.
If you want it to automatically take the price from your card, you must buy the subscription from the dashboard or Xbox.com.

I say cards.....not saying its going to happen, but if someone hacks your gamertag then they can charge credit card. Use cards:)

They won't renew MS points you buy it once and as much as you like, but they will renew Gold membership to monthly subcription. Cards are better if you don't want to call them up and ask them to cancel your gold membership.

I buy my MS points with my debit card since they won't renew anything automatically, but I use prepaid cards for my gold subscription because if you use a debit or credit card for your gold subscription it will renew your subscription automatically. If you don't have the funds when it is renewal time they will suspend your account until you have another credit or debit card to use to reactivate your account. Debit and credit are fine for MS points but I would use prepaid cards for the Live Gold.
P.S.- You will receive your MS points automatically using a debit/credit card from the Xbox Dashboard.

You will receive your MS points automatically using a debit/credit card from the Xbox Dashboard.
So, when I purchase them via the dashboard, I get them instantly?
