January 25, 2008 - IGN has confirmed that Saw IV cast members Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson, and Costas Mandylor will return for the Lionsgate franchise's fifth installment, which will be directed by the series' former production designer David Hackl.

Bell plays the franchise's central character Jigsaw, while Patterson and Mandylor play FBI Agent Strahm and police detective Hoffman, respectively. Patterson made his franchise debut in Saw IV, while Mandylor joined in Saw III.

The three actors' return was first rumored in a January 24th posting at ProductionCharts.com, which also claims Saw V will shoot in Toronto from May 17 to June 22. Bloody-Disgusting.com reports today that it, too, has heard that Bell, Patterson and Mandylor might be back for Saw V.

IGN has confirmed that filming actually begins March 17 and not May 17, as ProductionCharts.com claims.

Saw V is slated for release October 24, 2008.

Perhaps not related, but it's silly how many Saw movies are coming out. Soon it's going to be like:

SAW VIII - YOU THOUGHT THE GAMES WERE OVER BUT THEY'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN

Don't ever talk about Bond against a crappy horror movie -.-

Bond: Great plots, characters/gadgets,etc.

Saw: one badguy, same characters from past movies, same type of setting, nothing really fancy about it.

These movies are getting too ridiculous...but I do like Tobin Bell he's creepy as all hell...but I doubt Jigsaw can be such a super genious that none of his traps fail and he plans about 80 of them before he dies, for after he dies lol..

It's called a 'plot'. SAW, (regardless if you hardcore wannabe movie critics agree) is a great series that has made tons of money, so obviously there's still people watching. It doesn't really matter the demographic of the consumers, only thing that matters is the movies HAVE 'consumers'.

Hell, Bell would sign a fifteen movie contract if he knew they'd all have the success of the first IV. Yes, I'm a big SAW fan, and I think IV was a mistake to do, but I still liked it. They need to end it with five, I wish they ended it with III. The point is; the movie sells. It's not everybody's cup of tea here.

The original was a great movie. Saw 2 and 3 were pretty good as well. Saw 4 was fucking retarded and I don't foresee any of the sequels having any redeeming qualities.

Tobin Bell is lucky he's getting put in these films. He's featured in flashback scenes that are filmed just for the film... Yet he's not a main part really. Lucky bastard.

The original was great because Cary Elwes was in it.

I agree. The first and second were good movies. I wasn't too keen on the third and didn't get into Saw IV enough when watching it, so I knocked it off.

Hopefully this one leans more towards how the first two were.

Huh, I actually thought 4 was on of the best so far. It had a great twist at the end and was a great movie. I didn't think it was possible to keep making these but they are and they're sticking to the original plot and making some good movies...

BLASPHEMY!!!! Casino Royale was fantastic! Anyways, for Saw movies, they're kind of wearing me out. Everyone knows it's already hard to make a sequel better then the original. If you continually make sequels, then the quality begins to decline. They're all pretty decent, but the entire premise of the movie is gore. That's it.

Here's why I found 4 to be awful. They're absolutely milking this plot now. The cop was a bad guy because he tries to SAVE people? WHAT THE FUCK?! The guy was one of the few good cops to ever exist so they're like well fuck this guy he should be a crooked cop and eat donuts.

Yeah, but, the people he saved were bad people and he had to make a choice to either save them and be a hero like always, or let them die and save his friend and the other guy. Jigsaw was testing him, and he failed. He was trying to show him that Jigsaw himself had to make some tough choices to get to where he was. It was all a test and he failed because he tries to be the hero.

I thought that was great, but, me and you rarely ever agree Honky so it's all good.:p

Honestly, Jigsaw is dead therefore Tobin Bell shouldn't even care about this series anymore. If he's dead then you don't act in that movie anymore.

Saw: 5/5
SawII: 4/5
SawIII: 4/5
SawIV: 3/5
SawV: Hopefully it will be better then 4

That's pretty accurate...

I was a big fan of the first and they started dwindling into ridiculous plot tornados...

Yes but a cop who cares too much is worse than a crack fiend who rapes children or a murderer?

No one ever said the cop was worse than anyone. He was being taught a lesson by Jigsaw...

I welcome the news as I am a major fan of the series. And yes the first three were pure awesome lol, but in saying that I do not believe that number 4 was bad but it was not quite the quality of the first 3.

It won't carry on, because they're whoring it out big time, I mean 2 Saw's in one year? come on, they're riding the 15 minutes of fame on here, it'll be dead soon, Bond films are classic's because they make a film every few years, that's why it's been and always will be a hit. And another reason it's a hit, locations, come on, who wants to see the same movie over and over again about people being locked in a room, of course people will come to a conclusion that they're gonna die in it, and it's pretty boring for me, I want some suspense in it, not come to a movie and say "ok, he's in a room, he's gotta find something or do something to live, opps, nevermind, he just died"

And nice double post. ;) theres an edit button.

It is stupid how they keep going on with Horror films to the point where they don't make sense anymore. It will be just like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. They should have stopped it after the third one in my opinion.
