Is anyone going to bother to see it?

I've seen commercials for the movie, for the past somewhere in 2 weeks and I've seen a few funny things. I'm planning to go with some friends to see it tommorow.

I was thinking of going...
But after getting burned with Epic Movie (which was utter shit) I'm really hestitating and thinking of going the way of the Bucket List instead and waiting for this on DVD.

The only reason I want to see Meet the Spartans is because they burn Chris Crocker...plus the Britney parts seem pretty funny. But I don't know  if I do go and it's horrible like Epic Movie I think I'll demand a refund this time.

I found Meet The Spartans actually pretty funny.. Don't go expecting that one spiderman and rambo part in it though.. It's solely based around 300 with clips of other things mixed in :p It's also just one great big marketing ploy so be aware ! Also @ v thorne, bucketlist is a great movie... You should go see it..

It's based around 300!? With the name Meet The Spartans, what else did you expect? All the Scary Movies had been based around one single movie with extra parts to other films. That's how almost all of the parody films are.

Actually no you wouldn't expect the entire movie to be a 300 remake... Pretty sure it didn't stray off the plot of 300 once, other then the fact that it summarized it... Even my brother was surprised about that..

I thought it was going to be 300 mixed with Meet the Parents to be honest. Rambo didn't show up in the movie either. The previews didn't even make it seem like a pure 300 spoof. Other then that it was a summarized 300 and it was full of marketing which kind of sucked. Either way, the movie was hilarious. Matinee or discount ticket price hilarious though, not evening show regular price.

Also one more thing. The Scary Movies have not always been entirely like that. They've actually mixed in multiple story lines. The first one seemed to be based solely around Scream but the later ones weren't. They just mainly focus on mixing as many scary movie story lines into one. For example, Scary Movie 2 was probably so cliche. The storyline was basically a ghost that haunted a house. Where have I heard that? That's not just one movie, but multiple. Scary movie 3 was a mixture of 8 Mile, The Ring, and Signs from what I remember as the main story line. For number 4, it was Grudge, War of the Worlds, and Saw.

Meet the Spartans on the other hand did not once stray from it. Instead they incorporated other characters into it (i.e. *spoiler* Rocky Balboa as the huge monster).

Just saw it and it was horrible. Waste of cash. Plus the spiderman scene with Donald trump is in the film but after the credits. Theres a couple more scenes like him beating up the son some more. But stay clear from this film watch it when it hits cable or something.

I thought the movie was pretty terrible, but i had a great time anyways. The movie made me laugh quite a bit, but the way everything played out in the movie was shit. I don't think anyone really should be watching this movie, but if they are bored and want some cheap laughs then watch it. You'll have a great time as long as you don't expect too much.

I just got back from watching it abiut an hour ago and I thought it was ok. I thought the most amusing part of the movie is where Leonidas (Or something close to that) is beating up his son. Other than that there was a few good parts as well, but I thought they could've done a better job than that. Luckily it was no Norbit wich, luckily, I didn't see in theatres.

It looks like it might be a pretty funny movie from what I've seen on commercials. I might have to go see it at the movies if I have the chance. :p

I just went and saw Rambo instead. TOTALLY worth the ticket price. The violence in the movie is absurdly graphic and it's not too like deep. After watching Cloverfield, I felt relaxed to just sit back and watch Rambo rip a guys jugular vein out with his bare hands.

^^^I knew I should have listened to my Bro and watched Rambo.

I saw Meet the Spartans last night. Absolutely one of the WORST movies I've ever seen in my LIFE! It was like there was no thought put into the jokes. They just tossed in a bunch of random B$ to kill time off the movie.

The only thing I liked about Meet the Spartans, was some of the similarities to 300. How the some of the characters actually look and sound like the ones from 300. Also, who can forget Carmen Electra right? Other than that, everything else was horrible.

There was also these annoying B*tches in the back of the theater laughing their asses off hysterically. One of the guys in the theater said, "It's not even funny!" I agree with that guy. I even saw many people start leaving in the middle of the movie. The theater was empty like hell to begin with anyways.

3 Thumbs DOWN. Do not watch this $hit.

I'm sorry but did you see this trailer and expect it to not suck balls? 300 was totally overrated to begin with. Why would I want to watch a parody full of 12 year old humor. Slapstick and fart jokes WOW! Also, isn't Carmen Electra like 90 years old by now?

Hold up Magoo.

I didn't go into watching the movie and having "high" expectations from it. I'm just giving my honest opinion and that's it.

Even if Carmen Electra was "90 Years Old", that would definitely make her the Hottest 90 Year Old there is on the face of the Universe.;)

I don't think many people did have high expectations. It just looks awful. I remember seeing the Epic Movie trailer and thinking that movie was going to suck. The only reason I even saw that movie was because some friends were going and I was bored. We ended up walking out after about 30 minutes. That's why there's no way in hell I'm going to be caught at this movie.

Rambo lost to a joke.

The spoof Meet the Spartans edged the return of Sylvester Stallone's aggrieved vet in the singularly named Rambo for the top spot at the weekend box office, per studio estimates compiled Sunday by Exhibitor Relations.

Meet the Spartans grossed $18.7 million; Rambo, $18.2 million.

"I think people want to laugh, and we appeal to young people and they came out," Fox exec Bert Livingston said Sunday by way of explaining Meet the Spartans' win.

The comedy, goofing on 300, American Idol's Sanjaya and the last six months or so in pop-culture history, is the latest in a now-long line of like comedies. It opened smaller than Scary Movie, which goofed on horror movies, but bigger than Epic Movie, which goofed on just about everything.

Rambo, the first entry in the fully armed franchise since 1988, gave Stallone his biggest opening weekend since the days of Ivan Drago, the Soviet Union and Brigitte Nielsen's film career.

It goes down as the second-biggest opening ever for a Rambo film, which sounds impressive until you remember that three of the four Rambo movies opened when hair was much higher, and ticket prices were much lower. For the record, 1985's Rambo: First Blood Part II remains the series' standard-bearer, with a $20.2 million debut, and a $150.4 million overall take, per Box Office Mojo.

Elsewhere:
• Cloverfield, last weekend's champ, fell about as hard as King Kong from atop the Empire State Building, with business down 68 percent. Still its fourth-place finish was good for another $12.7 million, and its overall take of $64.3 million is very good for a film that was produced for a reported $30 million. • Katherine Heigl's 27 Dresses (third place, $13.6 million; $45.3 million) stayed strong. • Queen Latifah's, Diane Keaton's and Katie Holmes' Mad Money (10th place, $4.6 million; $15.3 million overall) stayed disappointing. • Juno (sixth place, $10.3 million), fresh off its four Oscar nominations, became the year's first Best Picture nominee to top $100 million. "It's a big thrill for us," said Fox Searchlight's Sheila DeLoach. • There Will Be Blood (eighth place, $4.9 million; $14.8 million overall), fresh off its eight Oscar nominations, climbed four spaces to record its top 10 finish. • No Country for Old Men ($2.5 million; $52 million overall), fresh off its eight Oscar nominations, finished out of the top 10, but recorded a 106 percent jump in business. • Michael Clayton ($2.1 million; $41.5 million overall), fresh off its surprising seven Oscar nominations, returned to wide release, saw ticket sales zoom nearly 5000 percent, but still had trouble filling seats. • Alvin and the Chipmunks ($4.6 million) fell out of the top 10, but moved past the $200 million mark. • I Am Legend ($2.2 million, per Box Office Mojo) fell out of the top 10, but moved past the $250 million mark. • The new Diane Lane thriller Untraceable (fifth place, $11.2 million) had a bigger weekend, theater for theater, than Cloverfield and 27 Dresses. • The new dance drama How She Move ($4.2 million) had a bigger weekend, theater for theater, than not much. • The non-Oscar nominated 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days ($48,200) and the U2 concert film, U2 3D ($964,000), were the big fishes in limited release, per Box Office Mojo stats.

Here's a recap of the top-grossing weekend films based on Friday-Sunday estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

1. Meet the Spartans, $18.7 million
2. Rambo, $18.2 million
3. 27 Dresses, $13.6 million
4. Cloverfield, $12.7 million
5. Untraceable, $11.2 million
6. Juno, $10.3 million
7. The Bucket List, $10.278 million
8. There Will Be Blood, $4.9 million
9. National Treasure: Book of Secrets, $4.7 million
10. Mad Money, $4.6 million

Who wants to watch an old man walk around the jungle with his walker? It's a re-hash of a stale franchise. I have no problem believing that it was surpassed by a shit bomb like Meet the Spartans.

I'll watch it if it's on Comedy Central like 4 years from now, but I'm not spending a cent or a minute of my time to watch it now.
