I can think of one right away, it's a movie I just seen recently and thought it was kick ass....
Smokin' Aces. Got royally shat on even though in my opinion it's an amazing action movie. The music is top notch as well.

I also thought Smokin' Aces was pretty good. Ryan Reynolds gave a performance in that movie I thought he couldn't give, since he usually does comedic roles.
Alien 3 is underrated. Well, the Assembly Cut is, anyway. The theatrical version for that is terrible.
Same for Daredevil. Theatrical version, terrible. Director's Cut, awesome.

YES! I LOVE YOU FOREVER. That was my favorite movie of 2007. The last song in the movie is the sickest song ever. Dead Reckoning by Clint Hassel. zOMG.

I enjoy watching them, just annoys me when there follows a US version. ie pulse, ring, and now the eye -.- I watch them...Just to bitch about them. Because it annoys me that much. The eye is a fantastic film. And i bet any money, the US version sucks. Hollywood just doesn't capture the film right. Action etc they get spot on. Even western horror i.e. NOES, Friday. But re-makes...Are just dyer.

True that man! That song is ridiculously good, right up there with 'Hello Zep' from the SAW series.
Night Watch and Day Watch (not sure whether Dusk Watch will be any good though) are excellent films. Like a cross between The Matrix and Underworld but with a Russian twist. It's just got a decent story, not all smiles and sunshine like in other films.

I never liked the original Nightwatch. I recommend one of Arnies best movies, Total Recall. Everyone classes it as being far fetched and stupid but if u pay good attention you will realise its full of plot twists and has amazing characters. Plus it was written by the same guy that done Blade Runner.
I also recommend a really weird movie called 'Freaked'. It was made by and stars Bill from Bill and Ted. It also features Keanu Reeves, Randy Quaid and Mr T as a bearded lady (the weirdest and funniest thing you will ever see). It's one of those movies that is soooo bad it is actually amazing to watch with friends.

Ichi the Killer isn't underrated. Its overrated, if anything. Sure, I like the movie. But it's not as great as everyone claims it to be.
Also, The Frighteners, starring Michael J. Fox and Jefferey Combs. Really underrated movie.

The Frighteners was crap IMO. It's rarely known among a lot of people, or so it appears to me.
I'd say Ginger Snaps is pretty damn underrated. It's my favorite werewolf movie, even over The Howling.
The original Hills Have Eyes. Hell, any movie that has been remade... It's original film is usually underrated.

Amazingly that's true. I never really understood that. A movie is made with the same plot, characters and usually right around the same story line; yet the movie they base it off gets no credit. =P
Anyway, another underrated movie IMO was Hills Have Eyes 2. I actually really liked that movie.

The original part 2?
The sequel to the remake sucked on so many levels! I was hoping it would be a remake of the second one, but it wasn't.
They try too hard to be shocking by including rape scenes. I'm sorry but video nasties/shock films are done with. The best ones have already been made, and it's not going to shock anyone. :p

Equilibrium - I have no clue if it is a underrated or overrated film. But I do have one thing to say. It is one of the best films I have seen. The plot is all about the human race becoming too violent and after WWIII the world was ruined. But then scientists came up with a idea to wipe out human feeling. It is very good and a must see if you are a fan of the matrix type movies.
Actors : Christian Bale & Taye Diggs

Same here, I was hoping it'd be a remake of the original Part 2. But, alas, what we got was crap. Its okay, though, since I thought the Hills Have Eyes remake was also crap.
And yes, the original Hills Have Eyes and Hills Have Eyes part 2 are underrated.

Another good overlooked movie of Christian Bale is
The Machinist. Most people don't seem to know about it and it's
a pretty damn good movie. Plus it shows his commitment to his art. He was down to like 135 pounds I think for it, then got back up to like 245 or something to bulk up for Batman.
OH also Escape from LA. So many people seem to hate it, but it's got some kind of charm that i just enjoy. Maybe I just hope Los Angeles (The County I live in) is made into an island lol.

I think Christian Bale is an underrated actor to be honest, all his films I've enjoyed, especially The Prestige, which is definitely underrated, one of the best films I've ever seen.
Layer Cake's another underrated film, I think most people see it as a cheap Guy Ritchie rip-off, which it isn't, and I'm so glad he passed the directing duties over to Matthew Vaughn. Its funny that he chose to make Revolver instead, because that film is awful, and he's failed to make anything since.
I think The Pianist doesn't get the credit it deserves, I prefer it over Schindlers List, yet ask anyone to name a film depicting life in Nazi Germany and they'll say Schindlers List. Its sad that The Pianist is always cast under Schindlers shadow, because it deserves the same amount of credit in my opinion.

One particular movie that was hated on a lot by Adam Sandle, that I thought was great was Punch Drunk Love. Critics liked it but the consumers disliked it. I thought the movie was quite funny. Honorable mention to Spanglish as well.
If we're talking super underrated and probably one of my favourite movies all time, Equilibrium. That movie was class. Barely even received any press, and when I saw it everyone asked what the hell it was. Around here at least, most people didn't know what the hell that movie was.

Cop Land is really underrated. Sylvester Stallone plays a total opposite character than what he normally played back then. That movie really shows that he can act.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Really underrated.
The Mothman Prophecies. It gets a lot of shit. I thought it was really creepy and pretty effective.
Pumpkinhead. Great movie, directed by Stan Winston, one of the greatest makeup effect artists out there (right next to Tom Savini and Rob Bottin).
Return of the Living Dead part II. People thought it was terrible compared to the first. It was nowhere near as good as the first, but it was still enjoyable.

Other underrated flicks would be Creepshow and Creepshow 2. Sadly, we've had to see the release of Creepshow 3 which was somehow released. It was some jackass who had really no part to do with the production of the other two, who got rights to the name. Sadly, the current generation will never know the sexy-ness that is Creepshow, unless you've got some sort of knowledge with horror films.

Well, I guess I'm the only one here who enjoys them. Personally I see nothing wrong with them. I guess you just have to not be picky. I'm a huge fan of Low/No-budget horror films. Troma and Full Moon are two of my favorite film production lines. They're all movies that work off their cult fanbase. I guess it's just the kind of movies I've grown up with and enjoy that allow me to tolerate movies that most people consider shitty.

I Am Legend was bad. I much prefer the other takes on the novella I Am Legend: The Last Man on Earth (1964), and The Omega Man (1971). Those two movies are excellent, and vastly underrated. The first has Vincent Price, and the second has Charlton Heston.

The 300 might be the most over hyped movie ever. It was DECENT because it had good action. In reality it wasn't historically correct and the story was pretty stupid.

The Omega Man is a great film! I'd suggest that to anyone who liked I Am Legend. I haven't seen I Am Legend, but I know they relate very closely.
Apocalyptic themed movies in general seem to be underrated. People only seem to know films along the lines of 28 Days Later (which is sadly interpreted as a zombie film, which is incorrect) and I Am Legend.
Another film much like The Omega Man would be The Quiet Earth. It's another great and underrated Apocalyptic film.

There ya go, I fixed your post.
I can't quite agree with that. The action in it was fairly awesome. I don't think any movie can beat Scarface in terms of being overrated. Everytime you hear some thug, rapper, or whatever.. "Oh Scarface.. yeah I watch it like 50 times a day. He's so gangsta." The movie was good but jesus almighty, everyone praises it like it's the best gangster movie ever made.
The 300 might be the most over hyped movie ever. It was DECENT because it had good action. In reality it wasn't historically correct and the story was pretty stupid.
The movie wasn't suppose to be historically correct. It was based on Frank Miller's adaption of the actual event. Initially a graphical novel, it's his entire view on how the war played out. The graphical novel was actually incredible. I personally thought it was much much better then the movie.
Apocalyptic themed movies in general seem to be underrated. People only seem to know films along the lines of 28 Days Later (which is sadly interpreted as a zombie film, which is incorrect) and I Am Legend.

Another underrated movie would be The Host. Great Korean monster movie. If anyone ever watches this, don't watch it with the dub. Watch it with subtitles instead. With the dub, its an okay monster movie, but with subtitles, it adds so much more depth to the characters. You get to see the actors actually act, hear the emotion in their voices. But know that some of the scenes are purposefully over the top, and meant to be comedic.

Personally I thought Mortal Kombat was vastly overrated. It's an aboslute bag of shite in my opinion. The game was average.
Man On Fire - vastly underrated film. Fantastic writing and direction, not to mention acting from Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning.
SAW - it was like a breath of fresh cinematic air when this came out. Love this film and I think this will stand the test of time over the years.
The Descent - Fantastic horror film that doesn't get the attention it so rightly deserves. Lulls you into a false sense of security and then BAM ! It hits you !
The Devil's Rejects - FANTASTIC ! Brilliant film by director/musician Rob Zombie. Still have to get round to seeing the first film (House of a 1000 Corpses), but this film can be watched alone without having to have seen that first. Brilliant film.

Hard Candy (2005) - Probably one of the BEST movies i've ever seen. Very creepy.
Wicked (1998) - Another obscure late 90's must-watch flick.

The most underrated movie I've seen was spirited away.I went and saw that movie twice in theatres
Hard Candy was definitely extremely underrated, that movie was brilliant.

I thought so, too.
Cop Land is a very underrated movie, one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. Sylvester Stallone plays a character that was against his typecast. up.
That's probably why it's underrated.

I thought Waiting was overrated, and I did like Let's Go to Prison (not the greatest, but still good). Another underrated movie was The Exorcist III. Great sequel (a lot better than the horrible Exorcist II: The Heretic). Exorcist III even had Damian Karras in it. The second didn't even mention Damian. Amazing first movie, shit sequel, great third movie, alright two prequels.
