EDIT: Alright, I beat the demo and I wasn't really amazed by much. After all this hype, I just couldn't see why the hype was so high. The gun has nearly no use what so ever, so it's pretty much a Y button masher. I like Nero's personality though. Sarcasm and funny cracks are great. What would make this game best is if it had multiplayer. It has a very arcade style feeling and would love to play this all night with some friends. Overall, it was alright, I'll buy it for sure, but it's def. not what I thought it was going to be.
PS. I'm completely new to the DMC series, so not sure they all played like this or not, so don't mind my newby-ness about the game.

Yeah, if you played the other DMC games, you wouldn't be saying all the stuff you're saying.
The demo is good and remember kids, it's just a demo. Once you progress throughout the game, it'll get better obviously. Upgrading combos, powerups, and all that good stuff. Def. can't wait for Feb. to come.

It is only the demo, BUT, that doesn't change the gameplay of the game. That's how they intend to have the game played and I'm not a big fan of they style. The main game will play like that, but with more features and what not. I'm not even saying it's bad, I just don't see how it's living up to the hype, but maybe the full version will be great. I will find out soon enough when I buy it ;)

It's kinda slow IMO, not enough action, too many useless cutscenes, and the camera is still a mess. Plus the enemies are like half-asleep, they basically have no AI. The boss looks GREAT, but the fight is kinda meh -rb+b, y, y, y, rb+b, y, y, y, repeat 10 times... I liked the special moves when the fiend was stunned, though, that was badass and much better than a QTE -.
I know from experience that capcom's demos are often very different from the final version, but I'm kinda disappointed right now... Old ninja gaiden black is still simply better than this from a gameplay standpoint, much faster and much more challenging.

Okay I played the demo last night. It was so beyond awesome.
The graphics are great. Now my boyfriend isnt really a follower of DMC. The first thing he noticed was that the camera angle wasnt controllable. Now, this bugged me too, because I'd thought they'd have figured that crap out.
Well, it doesnt bother me that much. Like Devolon said, the demos can be different from the actual game. Maybe its that way for the demo, maybe its not, we'll find out on the day of the release!
I, personally, loved it. It played like a traditional DMC game, and I'm excited. I pre-ordered the special edition, because thats the only way one can do DMC and get the entire effect of it! Its awesome, I love it and I think it'll be an even more awesome game. The graphics are off the rails, like usual, and the story line looks like it could be interesting.
I'll admit, when I first heard there'd be a 4th, I was wondering "What're they thinking? They wont mess it up, will they?" and I heard that the 4th would only be for the ps3, and be a combination of all three games in one.
Now that was disappointing. I'm glad though to see it come to the 360 and I'm glad that it doesnt look like its the suck and fail.

If the camera is actually locked onto Nero you can, but if its an enviromental camera, you cant.

Played it about 10 minutes ago, and I was bitterly disappointed. Sure, the graphics are awesome, but what's the point if can't see the buildings due to the shitty camera angles? Also, the gameplay's boring. It seems you go to an area which is blocked by some red spiderweb crap, kill some monsters (by repetedly mashing Y), and then progress into some other area with the same objective. The game's very linear - I guess I was expecing some sense of exploration. I won't be getting this one, that's for sure.
2/10 purely for the graphics.

just tryed the demo. not at all impressed by the game.
the graphics are good (Berial looks awsome) but the gameplay is soo dull.
if I want to go play a button basher, ill go back to play Dynasty Warriors, and even then they give you a choice of characters and more moves to use in combos.
played through both modes once and that was me at the limit of boredom.

Did you just saying you would rather play Dynasty Warrior? What has the world come too.... wowwwwwww! DW is more strategy based and the depth behind it is not even half of DMCs. There are a ton more combos within DMC games as opposed to DW. Have you never played a DMC game before? Because if you have, you should know that DMC is known purely for it's insane combos. It isn't just repeatedly pressing "Y" as some of you put it. You can perform some of the most insane combos if you've played the game for quite some time. You can't forget that Dante also has different "styles" which adds more depth to the combat. Can't forget the upgrade system either.

Demo was great, graphics were great, fighting was great, and camera still sucks. That pretty much sums up how I feel about the demo simpily put it kicks ass. My only critism would be the time limit, I always hated those things and the camera but I can forgive that because after playing DMC1 again and being annoyed by the camera again this one seems so much more forgiving. And for the people critisizing the game for not living up to it's hype you've obviously never played the other DMC games because this is exactally what you would expect, and to whoever asked about the combos yes they do get a lot better as you play through the game, at least it was that way in the first 3.
P.S. Is it just me or does Nero seem a lot funnier than Dante

And for the people critisizing the game for not living up to it's hype you've obviously never played the other DMC games because this is exactally what you would expect,.
I'm critisizing the game for not living up to its hype because I beat all 3 DMCs and I wanted more than a graphical update. I wanted smarter enemies and better level design. This demo plays like DMC1, a 7 years old last gen game, plus a "new" character and a shiny new toy (devil bringer). Berial is a nice boss, but DMC1's Phantom and DMC3's Agni & Rudra were better, which is sad.
The problem with DMC's formula is that Ninja gaiden and god of war were already much better than DMC3 back in 2005, and DMC4 isn't even trying to raise the bar. Have you checked some Ninja gaiden 2 gameplay footage? This looks much faster and much more intense than DMC4.
Don't get me wrong, i'll buy DMC4 because I love the genre and this is probably a good game, but certainly not a great one.

I cant seem to find anything wrong with the demo..the graphics 10, gameplay 10 the camera angles are just like the old games if not easier to use so those are good too. the new stuff they added like the devil bringer works nicely, forming even more combos to do then on the old games. jesus im having a seizure just typing about it, i think ill go play the demo some more :)

I think the game is a little more than that. Once you upgrade your skills you get some pretty nice new moves. Yes. Devil May Cry offers one of the best hack and slash controls around. They're extremely tight and the combos are awesome. The game demo is extremely limited and believe me, once you understand the mechanics of the game, you'll be wanting to continually progress and achieve those super high combos and rankings. Plus, DMC games always provide plenty of unlockables. Though you would think they suck if you haven't had time with it. It's something you have to build up and understand to achieve those SS rankings and so forth. They've changed the name of the combos in this one though.
DMC is also well known for it's extreme difficulties. DMC3 in particular had two bloody hard modes which were Dante Must Die and Heaven or Hell. Many have complained about the difficulties in Dante Must Die but HOH is just a whole new story. From what I recall, if you were hit once you would die but the enemies also die in one hit. So it's a true test of skill.
In DMC3 they also had various styles such as Royal Guard, Trickster, Gunslinger, Swordmaster (or was it Blademaster?), etc. If you really want to understand the complexity of the prior DMC game (DMC 3) then check out this faq:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/920607/40790
Definitely a shit load more then just "4" combos that's for sure. DMC4 is no different from the reviews I have read. Did you ever figure out how to use the Red Queen efficiently by revving? I'm sure a lot of people didn't realize you could rev the Red Queen (It's Nero's sword).
Refer to this quote:

God of War is a tough game to beat in terms of hack and slash, but DMC3 was comparable. I have to say that DMC3 was better then Ninja Gaiden though. Honestly, the game provided some of the deepest combat for a hack and slash I've seen to date and it did in a sense revolutionize hack and slashs as God of War did. You must also note this is a pathetically short demo. I would like anyone to play a 10 minute demo of DMC3 and they would all say the same thing. The demo is too short to show case the abilities of a hack and slash of this level.
For anyone who cares here's IGN Aussie review of DMC4 PS3:
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/849/849042p1.html
8.8/10 for anyone who doesn't feel like reading it. For everyone who's complaining about the controls:

Of course there are plenty of sites that may have given DMC higher marks then Ninja Gaiden and God of War but it's vice versa also. I still say DMC provides some of the tightest hack and slash mechanics in video games. Agree to disagree though.
