there seem to have been a lot of new users on live (can tell by gamerscore)

i have no idea what the exact sense christmas, but there are a lot

It's bound to happen. A lot of people got a 360 when Halo came out and a lot more will have ended up with one for Xmas - ergo more people trying out the online side of things. Simple as.

Plus everytime a new game comes out, there's usually a deal where you can buy a 360 and get that game free or something along those lines.

That interests people, and if that game has Live capabilities, they're bound to join the bandwagon.

On my recent players list when halo came out about 45 otut of 50 ONLY had Halo and/or Madden and had 300-500 gamerscore.

People have been saving up their money. The 360 has some great gaming experiences. Games that were great sellers were Halo 3, COD4, Bioshock, etc. If anyone doesn't own one, they must rethink about it.

I think you get a free microphone with every Premium, Arcade or Elite console. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Well my elite came with a mic when I bought it last May. I have noticed a steady increase in people playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance online though. Probably due to the fact that it was one of the games that was bundled over the holidays with the systems.

I think its arcade and core that don't get the headset, I know the core definitely doesn't.

MS are releasing so many games to suit everyone so there are bound to be more people, especially with games with a focus on live

Core never got a headset and I'm pretty sure the Core is begin replaced by the Arcade which also does not have a headset :(

Like others said, I believe the only ones that don't include a mic are the Arcade and Core because you would need the HDD to get online for multiplayer. It's just good everyone is using them, unlike some I have seen without.

I notice it around under 2k, like myself. Easier to pick off a new user that has under 1k.
