**Contains Spoilers!**

SAW IV was a huge disappointment. I'm an addict of the movies, I absolutely loved SAW & SAW 2 and I hated SAW 3. SAW IV was a mix between 2 & 3, some things I hated and other things I loved.

Acting: The actors/actresses in IV were medicore. I thought 'Riggs' was the best out of them all, probably because I've liked him ever since 2. Everybody else; with the exception of Det. Matthews ( the very little you seen of him, he did a good job I think ) was decent. I wish IV would have played out where Eric would have been in a lot more of the movie, as well as the husband that was the last man standing from 3.

Story: I thought for the most part the story line was pretty good, as were all of the SAW's. IV kept me guessing and thinking 'what if' pretty much the entire time. The way they tied everything together with 'Riggs' was excellent, although I thought the concept of the cop taking over the work of Jigsaw was a bit cheesy. The way they did the same thing as SAW with Jigsaw laying in the middle of the floor then getting up and everything shouldn't have been re-done, IMO.

Editing/Music: Was top notch. This is one of the reasons I'm so in love with the movies. I like how they used the same type of transitions they used in 3 and worked them in flawlessly to IV. The way a struggle with a trap would break out and they'd transition it into the police station or a conversation opening up more of the story was great.

Breakin' it down: Bottom line: Do NOT expect anything fresh from IV, it's all been done before, and they don't really bring anything new to the series. If you've liked previous SAW's, you'll enjoy IV. I really hope they put a little more effort in re-inventing SAW for V.

DVD Features: Were pretty weak. I hope I can find a two-disc edition or they plan on releasing one soon.

Eh, mediocre stab at a mediocre movie. I only somewhat enjoy the first and fourth one. I personally thing the SAW series is the worst excuse for horror/suspense. I've been an avid horror film for nearly eleven years, and never before have I come across such shit as I have seen in SAW.

Their targets are angsty teens who want to see a movie with gore. They're deep enough to keep the average person somewhat interested, but when you finish it, you don't feel accomplished like you should with a thriller.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it's really not that original of a concept, the films have always been selling on the fact that it contains a creepy puppet and lame special make-up effects.

I realize SAW didn't invent the concept, but I'm pretty sure more than just a few 'angsty' teens agree with me when I say it's a damn near perfect series. When SAW was released it was fresh as ever, and yes, it's now beginning to become washed up. Let's just hope V re-invents itself a bit.

"Damn near perfect"
Are you sure about that statement?

Shitty acting, doing something that has already been done before, creating sequels that loosely follow anything... >_<

If it's going to classify itself as a smart thriller it should be a bit better than what it is.

They're just in it for the money. The DVD's are lame as hell. Look at the trilogy box set. That's so stupid when they've just released a fourth one. Stuff like this really bothers me in the entertainment business.

Oh come on Tussell, Saw 4 can't be as bad as Return of the Living Dead or Night of the living dead 3.

I mean come on, floating zombie spinal cords with heads. Nothing tops the cheese-o meter on that one.
Saw was just trying too hard when the third one came around, and 4 was just a sign of milking it.

*Digs out VHS*
Return of the Living Dead was released in '85, and with a Tagline "They're Back From The Grave and Ready To Party!" I don't think it's meant to be brilliant.

SAW is trying to be the turning point in modern thriller cinema, and it's very obvious they're trying too hard.

Yeah I know, you're right. It's just people now a days have the attention span of a gnat. They need gore & action fast and all the time in their movies or they just shut it off. Saw had a kind of thinker angle until 3 came into existance. Ah well back to the classic horror movies.
