So, I have to send back my 360 to M$, but I don't have to send it with my harddrive. If I get a second 360, can I just swap in my harddrive from my first 360 and keep playing without losing anything or are the harddrives keyed in to their installed 360s somehow?? Thanks for any input;)
I'm not sure exactly how this works, but take something that I found...
I have all the Halo 2 added content on my hard drive, maps, etc but when I took it round a mates, the maps weren't accessible.
But, saying all that, hard drives can be bought from new without a 360 so I think it shouldn't make a difference.
No solild facts here, just mere speculation that I've noticed. Maybe it will help, maybe it won't ;)

Appreciate it. I was thinking the same about the fact that they sell harddrives, just not sure what happens after its installed if it gets programed only to the unit its originally installed in. I don't want to loose any saves or corrupt any arcade games that I've downloaded by popping into another 360

you can still use your old HDD on a new xbox 360 thats what im doing i bought a new one and took the HDD from the broken one and put it on my new one, the only thing that sucks though is that you always have to sign into your profile (it says 1 Profile Found) and you have to click that to get to your profile

I had put my hard drive on my brother's 360 to test this out, and for some reason it only allowed me to play the demos of the arcade games I bought. The downloads must be linked to your console somehow.

No they are locked to the profile now. So if you recovered the profile that has the arcade games on another system, it would recognise that you purchased them and you can redownload the content and play them on any console.

ARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHH!
I am so fuckin pissed off right now!!!! I just got back my 360 from M$. I pull it out the box and the first thing I noticed is that the "chrome" button and drive cover are all beat up and pealing!!! WTF!! I didn't send it in like that!! So I look at the serial number and the manufactured date -- IT'S NOT EVEN THE DAMN UNIT I SENT IN FOR REPAIR!!! WTF!!!
My unit had munfactured date of Jan/06, this thing has a date of 10/05. So what I got was a refurbbed toaster. What a great warranty system!!! SONY HERE I COME...

Yup this is my problem now. 3 boys in the house and makes 4. 4 different profiles on my machine. Now I'm the only one that can play the arcade games because I purchased it. They get demos. So I payed for it, but no one else in the house can enjoy --- great ass fuck system:uzi: :uzi:

Just to update:
I called back M$ regarding the arcade games and the fact that my profile was the only one that can access the FULL games after getting back 'my' 360. The guy tells me that one of the other profiles on the console must re-download (read repurchase) the full game in order for everyone to have access to the games again. WTF!!! What the fuck is M$ thinking??? They want me to pay for the game TWICE. Its like saying, I bought a retail game but only I can play it and if anyone else in the house wants to play it, they must buy it again.....BS!!!
So after going back and forth over this, I was given a reference number and was told that someone from M$ would contact me within 72hrs with a code, to be able to add M$ points to one of the other accounts so that the games can be repurchased from the market place and the games would be available to everyone again.
What a fiasco!!!
So if you need to send your unit back to M$, keep this issue in mind when you get back your unit;)
