Ace Question

I have looked through all of the posts quickly and cant see this question so I'll ask it and hopefully wont get into bother.
I have passed 3 missions and got and Ace Medal but Im always outside of the time so do these count as ace or do I have to beat the time as well?

If you shoot more than the required amount of enemies in a level you will get an ace medal. These are the medals your getting and they do count, and it is easier doing it this way than beating the required time so dont worry your o.k.
