View Full Version : XBLA Issues - "Trial Game"

My Xbox 360 has been serviced and with that, I now have a refurbished unit.

On my XBL Account I purchased and downloaded a bunch of arcade games. Connected online or not - I could play those games.

What was also great is my family members could play those games as well, without limitations - since we all share this xbox console.

Now I have a refurbished unit and unless I'm connected to Live - my games read "Trial"

I called Microsoft and they said for me to re-download the games. I've done that and still have the issue.

Furthermore, my family can no longer play these games in 'full version' - they just revert to trial... even though we still use the same console.

If I were to purchase a hard copy of the software, I could let anyone on my console play it...

The BIGGEST issue I have is this:

If I am NOT connected to the internet - I CANNOT play those games. And that really sucks, because often I go for periods of time that I cant use the internet.

Any Suggestions, Comments, Thoughts, or Ideas - I would appreciate it!

BTW - I hope I posted this in the correct area!

Thanks!

I never thought it was a problem with my console because my games do that too...I'll try re-dling the games..

I seriously thought this was just something pre-set with the games. Some of my games do it, but others don't.

I'm pretty sure you are screwed. You just have to be connected to live.

Arcade games are tied to your GT and to your console. So if you get a different console, you will only have the trial version unless you are connected to live. This is to prevent you from going to someone else's xbox, and giving them all your arcade games.

I think I've heard of Microsoft being able to switch the licenses for arcade games if you get a new console, but I'm not sure.

:whs You can only play your arcades when you are connected to live. Call up MS, and see what they can do for you. I think with newer arcade games you can re-download them and be able to play them offline, but I may be wrong.

If you delete the game from your Hardrive and download it again, it should work properly, but say goodbye to your saves.

No luck with the delete and redownload.

I even went as far as wiping the hard drive completely clean.. =( Well hopefully the new downloads have something implemented in them to recognize the account that downloaded them, without being live connected.

I understand its to prevent abuse... but I didn't cause the 3 red rings on my first console :(

i'd try MS again, or you will just have to settle with only playing them when you're online, sorry though mate, that sucks.

Yeah i really think thats stupid, if M$ allow you to play on a different account on the same consol, it should be possible again. Same thing for being connected or not. I know they can have "piracy" a little bit like you go to a friend place, you get your GT, redownload the games, and now he have them. But considering xbox 360 lack of quality construction and the way it nearly always break after +/- 1 years, i think it would be the least of things for M$ to endure some piracy that get you back to the old time of the Audio tape(1 friend buy one, he dupe his friend circle) I mean its far from todays piracy with the MP3 and music downloads on the net or in that case, game downloading on the net. How much friends you have with 360...i have 3 personally, and it dosen't mean a game i like, my friend will always like it, we have different taste, so in the end i don't think they would loose that much from that, AND it would AMEND THEM a little bit for making such a crappy system (speaking of parts quality) that break every 8 months or so(in my case its my third xbox360, 1 lasted 9 months, the other 8)

I know how ur family can play, but u must be connected to live, go to spongebob thread its in there, ok ill copy and paste it here, just for you...

Right you will not be able to play on a different xbox at all, but i found a way you can!!! You need 2 contollers though. On the first controller sign in to US account and second controller your account. Then with your controller select arcade games then spongebob. Play the game and get achievements, this works with every arcade game.

Reason you may need to do this:- Wanna play two player at a friends so you friend will get achievements and not actually have to pay for the game and you may have downloaded games before and then LOST your console to any reason and want friends to play from MC but says trial only sign in origainal d/l account UK one and it will work.

I found all this out myself coz my gf got gold and wated to play my games without D/L them again. Im good at finding glitches like this.

May have been posted before but i havent seen it recently so thought id share the love.

Couldnt be bothered to edit so just read the bits you need and US account means friends to you.

Hope this helps. Let me know if it does.

My 360, fairly old now is doing it as well, it's not "new" 360s, more they've snuck in a patch. I can't access the premium content I've bought for games unless I'm online either.

To say I am furious is an understatement. I didn't think they could be any worse then Sony, and yet here we are.
