I was over my friends house for 3 days without live or posting on the forums, so I didn't even realize there were problems with live. Then I sign onto live today and my dashboard takes 5 hours to load. Then I read the news article here, and all my questions were answered. Don't really understand why people can't read before they post a new thread.

yeah it keeps booting me out, and dashboard takes 6 years to load, not to mention the terrible lag in games! i was in shadowrun just a moment ago, and my team lost. hell, my buy menu would come up, and i wouldn't be able to select anything at all... i would wait like 10 seconds for the lag to pick back up, and still couldn't buy anything. then the buy menu dissapears and i'm unable to pull it up again, and then i hear " lineage team scores ! " and i look at my teams stats and 2 or 3 people would've already been killed and they were asking me why i was sitting at spawn?!

ugh.

now i'm just entirely unable to connect to any online games. so frustrating.

is there any word on why / how this is happening?

i hope they fix this crap soon otherwise i'm going to be demanding some of my money back or some free xbl time for paying for the gold subscription but having very limited or no access to anything.

hell, even like 5/20 of my arcade games say "download this game for the full features and to unlock achievements!" when i already have the game and a couple of them i have 200/200...

Don't even mention COD4 to me atm. It takes about 30 mins to get together a party of 4 people becuase no one can join each other, then it takes about 30 mins again to find a game where the 'host' doesn't quit within 30 seconds -

According to Xbox Live officials, Live is back up and running MUCH better,a nd account recovery is MUCH better as well. I am happy as I got my Xbox back and will be recovering my account in about 15 minutes :)

I had that same problem when I tried to get the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack. But it finally worked and getting into games is also a problem that I'm having...in Halo 3 it keeps restarting the search....

It's still screwed up for me too. It'll do the eternal load screen for most of the blades, but it shows that I'm logged in over on the far right ones. Keeps kicking me off too. I'm really getting annoyed by this!

I got it working fairly ok in COD4 today but then on one of the games the lag went crazy, it would lead me into a false sense of security :P I was ok so I was running around killing people and then lag sets in and moves me, nay. Even throws me into a grenade when I was going the other way. After that game I played one with perfect signal :S
Now I can't even get on xbox live, checked the connection and it says everything is fine and connected. Yet wont connect at all. lolz yay for MS

Yep I did mine last night. I have been trying every 30 minutes for two solid days, and then out of the blue it worked! I don't think it was related, but for some reason I lost ALL of my saves? I had to start Mass Effect over, I will have to do all of GH again, no WAY I am ever going to put Dead Rising back in again and start from level 1... meh. I'm not not pissed, I just hope it does not effect my online Halo in any way :eek:

I remember a time when problemes like this hardly never happened, then halo 3 was release, there was a little bit of probleme during the first day or so, but thats understanding, i mean the whole BOOOM of people going all at the same time... After that it was fine til COD4 was release... and then it started to go crap very often, too much often, probleme with party, some people not following, or on gears you search for rank game and found nothing, things like that. And now what, its 3 days or so that its messing up...kind of a long time to fix that, i mean today is not a very special day, there is no big game release, why it take so much time... Im curently doing Jericho so i don't mind that much not being able to play much COD4 right now, but its still for the principle, they have to fix that, should apologies by giving 400 M$ points or a month of Xbox live for free, just to say to people "hey we are sorry that a service you PAY was unable for a couple days" Its like in a restaurant, if you order something, and for unknown reason one thing is not fresh and taste bad, they are not just gonna replace the bad thing, they gonna redo all and free of any charge to apologies...

Someone rang the doorbell, then while I was going back I got a phone call form my sister to come pick her up from basketball practice, and then I went and picked her up. Firstly i'm not too bothered. I cant log in, i can't send or receive messages, i can't talk to my friends. Basically i can't do anything, but i guess we are all in the same boat, i dont really care its just a pain when i have people to talk to but i cant.

For example i was organising for the "Friends like these" achievement in Team Fortress 2 with some people but for the past 3 days i havent been able to send messages so they probably think im just ignorant.:(

Anyway i hope it gets sorted soon and they say sorry with a free arcade game or something. But this is MS we are talking about so i wouldnt count on it. :eek:

I just bought a brand new 360, and i am having DNS 'failures'. I had to manually configure my ip setting, and i tried automatic/manual configuration for DNS settings, but it keeps saying the same thing. What am i doing wrong? I would really like to have my gamercard :p

Things seem to be getting better since the holiday nightmare, I only occasionally got disconnected from a fifa08 game, mid-game, but remained connected to xbox live.

This break from a fully functional live service has pushed me to pick up bioshock and oblivion on a more serious playthrough this time around, and jesus......those are two games to be thankful for when played patiently and calmly.

Its just a shame that work starts again.

Yes, mine started doing this with a GoW update, and then it didn't even update at all!!
So I went into my test connection and LIVE had even made my NAT settings "Strict".
So I just unplugged my wireless hub and replugged it and that made the update work for me.

I've had problems since after Halo 3. It would say no connection when searching for online games and I'd wait for a few minutes and it'd be fine. I just thought it was due to my router because it's a piece of crap. Closer to Christmas I've had trouble signing in as well.

It'd be cool if they let us pick what game each one of us wanted. Like give us the option to pick any 400 point game, that'd be incredibly hard though and time consuming, and after all you could maybe ju create new profiles and get unlimited games. So yeah that won't work but hopefully it's not a crap game.

On that test page go to NAT click more info and type what you see I had a similar problem on my old console with live failing

I was having trouble with downloading the update, then I put it on a CD and loaded it on and it worked fine. Then I tried creating an Xbox Live account and I had the 'Xbox Live signup is unavailable' error, but I kept trying and about 3 hours later, it worked. Live is messed up atm.

Lucky you lol. I dont get lag in games but, joining games,sending priv chats, sending messages, looking at peoples GT's that kinda stuff is laggy...and oh yay that other thing...GETING ONLINE!

EDIT:just remembered how bad the XBL-MP is.Yesterday i went to the "Games" section and got a no content found or whatever, and if i remeber correctly last time i went to spotlight the free stuff wasnt working when i clicked on something (if I remember correctly it also had "Game" under all of them, such as xbox unlocked)

Hmm, this outage has made me learn that apparently ones archievements are stored in the profile, instead of saves.

My xBox used to drop quite a bit also using my Wireless network. I eventually tried turning OFF the security on my network and haven't had an issue of dropping since.

Now I live on 7 acres in the middle of the country, so I don't have to worry about anyone hacking into my network so it's not a big deal :)

I don't know if it helps or not but the time I finally got my GT recovered when it was at the terms or agreement page where you say yes or no, I let it sit there for a while. Someone rang the doorbell, then while I was going back I got a phone call form my sister to come pick her up from basketball practice, and then I went and picked her up. So I left it at that screen for like half an hour... It was probably a coincidence but... yeah never know.

Notifications can be turned off. If you hit the xbox button. Go to personal settings. And it's on there somewhere. Probably under notifications would be my guess ;). Check and make sure it's on.

I am having SOOOO many problems right now with live.
1) It takes about 2 minutes for it to sign my profile in but when it does it says I can't connect to xbox live.
2) When the Ethernet cable is unplugged it signs me in straight away.
3) When I test my connections it says everything's fine and dandy, but its not.
4) If somehow in the end of 30 minutes of trying to connect, it does then it will randomly disconnect an hour later or no reason.

I have phoned Microsoft and they said "The consoles in a bad position" which its not and "Clear the hard drive cache" which Ive done.

Anyone with the same problem?

Let me tell you all a story.....

X monkfish69 X was playing a nice and friendly game of Free-For-All on CoD4 last night and no-one else was getting any lag but him. He decided to leave the lobby after the game had finished, but then couldn't get back into a game for love nor money.

Then he decided that the problem must be with the CoD4 servers and logged into his 2nd account (US Silver one) so see what was new on the US Marketplace, but he was having shitloads of problems.
Then he thought fuck it, 'I'll play DooM deathmatch on Live against others'. He gets into the first game and he's kicking arse (Lady Vengeance was the opponent) and then she quits out of the game at 6-0. So then he's mega pissed off cause he doesn't know if his frags count towards the achievements. So then he plays another match against someone else, but it's lagging all over the place and he can't hit the side of a big barn door.... He quit's out of that match and goes to bed.

That's the story of the night that I downloaded the CoD4 mappack that I had been waiting for for ages.

Oh and when I did manage to get a few games of CoD4, the new maps were not on the rotation !!!!! So I haven't even played them yet !!!! Grrrrrrrr...........

I completed all the achievements for ALone In THe Dark, offline. THen when I got online after having to revoer it because it said my xbox-live info was invalid, it shows I DIDNT GET THE ACHIEVEMENTS. I tried restarting it, play a little in the game, but it still says nothing. I also have the whole gam completed even though it says I havent. A friend and me are having troubles with the X-Box Live, we can't play together at any game, and can't even speak with each other.
He's still on my Friends List, I never gave him a bad rep and he never did to me, the voice is active between us and with the rest of the world (I can speak with other people, he can speak with other people, but we can't speak to the other).

When he invites me on a private chat, I can see "Establishing Connection" for a few seconds, and then it disappears from the channels :/

When we try to play online at the same game, it's totally impossible to join the other's game, either it's not found, either the 2nd one to come is blocked and rejected :(

It started to happen on Friday, before that we could play several games (Prey, Battle for Middle Earth, WWE Smackdown VS RAW, etc) without any problem, and none of us changed a single parameter on our console :(

Since the same day, we can't play Burnout Revenge online, when I (or he) join a game, I can hear people talking, I can talk to them, but after a few seconds the connection is broken and I'm ejected :( Ranked and unranked games.


Do some of you already have had the same kind of problem, and if yes, how did you resolve it?
Could it be caused by the fact I played on his console with my profile on my Memory Card last week-end?

I've had times where I'm playing a game and for no reason it kicks me off of Live. It happens in single player games and I was playing Gears Co-Op and kicked me off in the middle of a boss fight. I've used chat and have had issues where the connection is horrible and I can only hear bits and pieces of what my friend is saying. Not good MS, not good.

I have had a few days off work this week and have been playing on my Xbox virtually all day. BUT, virtually every time I have put a game in today it has asked me to do an update.

Yesterday I played Gears of War and Oblivion on 2 separate occasions for each - required an update every time I loaded both.

Today I have put Oblivion on twice - needed an update both times.

I put Crackdown on in between and that needed an update to! My mate who I played coop with did not need to do an update either.

1st question I know everyone will ask is how long ago did you play them? Well Crackdown, Gears and Oblivion were all played multiple times this week.

Is there something wrong with Live or my Xbox? Any ideas welcome.

It could be live, or it is more likely to be your console. The most likely answer anyone will give you, and the answer I am going to give you is: clear your cache. If you dont know how to do that, search in this forum for it and you will find how to do it. That will remove all game updates from your console, and will probably fix the issue you have. Then you chuck your game back in, it will update and then hopefully not again.

A friend and me are having troubles with the X-Box Live, we can't play together at any game, and can't even speak with each other.


First of all, make sure your NAT is "open" and tell him to do the same. You can find the details here:

If that isn't the problem then you should make sure one of you didn't block the other one... A bit obvious though.

Otherwise, in case you haven't noticed, xbl is broken...

I'm gonna need to buy at least one wireless adapter to be able to play XBL for more than a couple of hours every Saturday. How do you work them? Do you need a jack to plug it in to anything? How does it get a signal? Will it work if I'm in my basement?

You have to have a wireless network in place for the adapter to work. Or perhaps if you have access to a public access point in the neighborhood that could work as well.

So I was playing the demo for that new XBLA game today, Beat n Groove or whatever it was called, and when I quit out of it, my xbox locked up with the little loading symbol. I turned it off and on again and again and long story short, figured out that when I was signing into Live is when it was freezing...

It works fine when I unplug the wireless adapter and stay offline. Anyone have any suggestions? Is this something I should just wait out or should I do something about it?

In case anyone runs into the same problem, I ended up fixing it by finding an "unknown game" file in my saves and deleting it. A lot of people on the xbox.com boards had the problem from that Stickball game trial version, but I didnt download that so Im not sure where exactly it came from for me...

ok I am seriously pissed to the point of throwing my xbox out the window. I have been having trouble with updating any game for about a week now so i just play offline. Then today I try to download some RB2 games and Poker Smash. they both hang at 1% so i call live support...(what a joke) I am on the phone and they tell me to delete my GT. So i do and then they tell me to recover it. well since i cant download shit i cant recover my gt. so i have been on the phone with support for 7 hours now. i have been disconnected 6 times and have hung up on one supervisor after telling hum to do unnatural things with a cow. The advice i have been given to fix the problem is to get a new console and try to recover my gt to that...which i did then they had me call my ISP and create a pinhole in my firewall with the ports they gave me...done then they wanted me to go to someone elses house and try to connect using there network...I snapped. has anyone else had these problems? I am so sick of the poor service that i get from live. i want to SCREAM

God damn that sucks!! Please tell me after all that you got it fixed because I have no idea how to fix a problem like that. My best guess would be that something is wrong with your connection but don't know how to fix it. :confused:

So I can’t use live, even if I gave them the money I could not use live. Now I know it was my fault for not reading the size 8 font but what kind of a business are they running when a simple mistake prohibits people from using their service? I mean how hard will it really be to make a new email? All i wanna do is keep my orginal name and acheivments. this guy (link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081006081335AAyBrZR) had the same status code problem and he was told to ring MS so i don't think theres much left for you to do other than ringing them up again.

I found the same thing Taker447 (thank you for the help and concern btw). I called the support line again and they seemed puzzled. The gentleman I talked to could not figure out the problem. (I gave him the error number and he had no idea what it was) He put me on hold for around 2 min and then came back with the excuse that because of the new “xbox experience” xbox live is having issues. Try again in a few days. Now I am still thinking I might have a chance because I was able to purchase MS points. I will see in a few days, and most likely will be calling support again.
