whilst reading through a magazine the other night i happened to see a article about the xbox 360 ultimate. it didn't say it was confirmed or anything but said it might be coming. here is a link to the website of the same magazine:

http://stuff.tv/news/xbox-360-ultimate-in-the-pipeline/default.aspx

what do you guys think about it? personally i think this is great, i was going to get an elite and a hd dvd drive but now i can get them both together. but i do think 320GB is a bit over the top.

What is anyone going to use a 320GB hard drive for? My roommate and I don't even use our whole 20 GB!

Its just so you never have to delete all the Downloadable movies and tv shows. But like most people i still haven't filled my 20gb yet.

I doubt MS are making this. What about all the people without HD-DVD 360? They wont be able to play the games unless the devs still make the 360 games on DVD.

Double disc versions...

Its a matter of time, but either towards the end of the Xbox 360's lifecycle or in its successor. This as been rumored and posted a few other times already. ;)

ok, well think it is stupid... I mean all Microsoft is doing is getting people to buy it and for them to make more money...

they already made 4 differant 360..

XboX 360 Arcade
XboX 360 Core
XboX 360 Pro
XboX 360 Elite

That is just there plan on making you buy more things from them...

You mean companies like Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, and all these other corporations that make things to be sold just want to make money?

This is whats called commerce, of course its to make money. But in two years when there are new technologies that are cheaper then than they are now wouldn't you want to buy that console instead of a cheaper console thats no frills and just the same old thing? If they produce this model at least MS is giving you that opportunity to purchase an upgraded model unlike other console makers (thus far).

Eh, forget that. I haven't come close to filling up my 20gb.

I fill my 20 gigs every few weeks or so. Then i have to delete cemos and such. While people say we will never fill 320 gigs, look ten years in the past when a gig was the answer to all storage problems. This would allow them to release full titles through live for download much like the PS3 did with Warhawk.

While the Xbox 360 Ultimate would sound somewhat tempting, NO! ;) I'd much rather get them to honor the warranty and fix the one that I bought from them first, besides... it works just fine, there's nothing wrong with it other than a bad CD/DVD rom drive that could easily die because of all the playing time that I put on the console in such a short period of time. So, here's to looking at getting mine fixed.

They would never make this unless they equipped all of their units with hd dvd drives. Then they would have to release two of every game, one in hd and one in dvd, and it would just be a big mess.

Microsoft should have spent another year and released 360 with a cheap hd drive, then perfected it down the road, instead of releasing just a dvd drive.

O_O 320 GB? jesus.. I still have 10 on my 20gb. That's probably because I delete my demos and everything all the time but then again why would you want to keep demos and stuff? just because you can? i think that'd be stupid.. I Don't think this'll happen, it'd be too weird. Microsoft would have to make two copies of every game(like everyone else said lol) which would cost them more money and be more hectic, right? o.o

I wouldn't mind it but doubt M$ is stupid enough to do this until the next xbox. I keep filling my 20 GB HD that I had to upgrade to the 120 but I DL shit loads of stuff lol. This would suck for me because I already have the HD-DVD add-on I hope they use this for the next xbox project not the 360.

I would save those plans for 2010. 320 GB + HD-DVD drive for the next Xbox would be awesome. Make it a low price and I'll buy it on launch day.

And 320 GB isn't that much really. I have a crappy 20 GB HDD and it keeps getting filled up. If I didn't delete demos, trailers and all the free content I download then I wouldn't have much room. Lets not forget Arcade games and the DLC for games. Just THREE maps for Halo 3 take up half a GB. That's a hell of a lot of space. There are going to be at least TWO more map packs coming out for it too so I'm expecting to use another GB.

Xbox Ultimate? Thats nothing. I have an Xbox 720, has a 65uberflop memory drive and with only a 9 in 10 chance of red rings in the first year. Thats next gen for you.

If I was microsoft, I'd just focus on making the next next gen perfect rather than spending time continuously developing the same console.

A few times I'm sure, but it never had a 320 GB hard drive on it. JDM's right, its a rumor and has been for a long time now, but it'll happen eventually. ;)

why is everyone screaming about a dual disc or 2 versions of the same game? You do know that the HD-DVD player will play regular DVD's.

meh i think ill stick with my "classic" 20gb 360, if they wanted to make it cooler, they should have had a 360gb hard-drive, it would make more sense... kind of

Why is sure does, but lets say you don't buy the new console with an HD-DVD drive built in; you have the older console with just the DVD drive in it. Now would you be able to play the HD-DVD games on that? I don't think so, this is why I mentioned they would have to release games in multiple discs if a game is over the 8GB dual layer DVD limit. They could also update the firmware of the HD-DVD external drive to play HD-DVD games if they went that route. Its a long shot either way but possible.

Yea I have a feeling those HD-DVD games might cost $70 a pop unless they drop the current prices down to $50 and HD stays at $60 that's another thing to consider.

It's a move that isn't bright at all. They can just release a 320 gig HD instead of a whole new console. and HD DVD games are just gonna force the player to buy this system.

Why do we need HD DVD format anyway? Isn't regular DVD enough? and if it isn't, shouldn't MS been smart enough to realise this like Sony did?
