Xbox 360 problems, help needed

I recently bought myself a halo 3 edition Xbox 360, before this 360 I used a regular 360. My problem was that I had 2 HDD's and today I switched all my saves and profiles to the Halo 3 edition HDD.

Everything is working fine except xbox live, I can log into xbox live ingame but not when i'm at the dashboard. The first time I played with the new HDD I had no problems loggin into live cuz I downloaded all the arcade games and a whole lot of downloadable content. When I go to the Xbox live blade and the games blade it goes into a neverending load. If I go to the Media blade I can see i'm logged into live and I can see my friends by pressing the guide button. I've tried moving my gamertag to my MU and restarted my 360 without the HDD but this is giving me the same problems.

When I go to the system blade > memory and the HDD I can see there are no System Items, the first time I played on live my 360 never asked for an update. I got the new fall update.

I've runned initial setup a couple of times but had no luck, this is really frustrating because I can't play any arcade games and I can't go to marketplace.

Does anyone know what the hell is wrong with my xbox?

Don't worry, theres nothing wrong with your Xbox.
But theres something wrong with Xbox Live atm. Everybody is experiencing the same problems than you. Lets just hope Live will be fixed ASAP.

Yeh man xbox live is fucked atm. I heard xbox.com was down, and call of duty is awful atm

I thought it was messing up this afternoon a bit, I thought it was me getting a bit of lag or something but now I can't even go on. I tried to get on and it downloaded game info or whatever and it said I was on level 18. Which is wrong, I was on 19. Not a lot I know but still, you think when its sorted it will go back to 19 or stay at a glitched 18.

I hope it's just a coincidence but why can I acces xbox live ingame and not through the dashboard?

I feel really stupid if it's really a live! problem :-S

If you leave it on the dashboard for 10 mins or so it will load, well it does for me, although it says connection to XBL lost alot and sometimes i cant sign in at all.

Bit of a pain as i want the spongebob game (yes i know im cool, lol) but im from UK so its not avalible, so i had a plan, buy 1600 points from eBay in the US for £12 and i was gonna set up a new US acount as mine reverted to silver. But...... everytime i start the signup it says XBL signup is currently unavalible.

What a pain in the arse.

OFF TOPIC: i made mistakes in the post as i spelt sign wrong and if i try to type the new word it deletes my space i made and ruins the post, in other words you cant edit. why?

yes Im having the same problem... It signs me in when i go to play a game but I can't find a match... and when I'm on the dashboard it loads but it says connect to internet... I try when im on the dashboard and it wont let me see my friends but it says i have 32 friends online... but wont let me see them...

i thought it was my connection messing up as soon as i sign on the dashboard it goes back to connect to xbox live, then it says deej brutal has 8 friends online, even though im offline. i guess live is messed for everyone.

It's such a relief that i'm not the only one, I thought my xbox/HDD crashed and I had to return it for the 5th time.

lol, no worries about your new box man. once xbox figures out what the hell they have to do to fix the server overloads, then your system should function fine for everything short of the arcade games, you may have to redownload them.

all games on live are fried - from uno to gears, and from nba2k8 to cod4. can't find games, can't get people to join games you host. its trash.
