So Yesterday I was at my friends house playing Rock Band. Of course I recover my gamertag onto his xbox so I can get achievements. I wake up today eager to play Mass Effect and start to recover my gamertag back onto my own xbox. But, of course, it is not working. I enter my gamertag in, then my email and password, then I accept the terms of agreement, and then while it is recovering a message comes up. It says 'Account sign up is not currently available, please try again later.' Well I have been trying on and off for the past 4 hours. Another weird thing, after I say OK to the message it returns me to the dashboard and tells me hopw many friends are online... but whose friends? You really gotta see this pic...

Can anyone help me? I am desperate and really want to play Mass Effect. :(

This has happened to me plenty of times. Pretty much it saying that microsoft is busy at the moment as you know they have plenty of things happenning in there tiny lives but when this happend i tried all day and it worked after about 7-9 hours after when everything dies down. Try around 8-9 pm and it will work as the whole network dies down around that time. And for the friends thats yours but not yours. You wont be able to see who accually online but i think it just a little glitched or something. I dont think it accually your frineds on right now but what your xbox rembers from the last time you logged in.

no, it happened to me last night as well. took 2 1/2 hours to recover my tag. the xbox live network is just screwing up all around. gears of war ranked matches are dropping people upon start, cod4 matches aren't matching players. people are getting kicked offline. i think the networking is being blitzed ridiculously.

If you wanna make a big deal out of it you can call them, they might have a more in depth explanation, or they will just say they are working on it.

I did call. They said I probably didn't hook up live correctly. When I said that I have signed onto live with another tag they simply said to try again in an hour.
