hey guys! i'm sitting here at work extremely bored and thinking about all the games i want/have to play and it bothers me because there is not enough time in the day!! how do you guys go about this? i mean some of you have insanely high gamerscores! i just can't find the time to sit down and play for hours on end...i wish i could. it frustrates me because gaming is one of my favorite things in the world to do but i have other things going on in my life....like college, work, etc.

i know having not enough time does suck...i sit at a job where i dont really do anything for a good potion of the time. i just wished i could get one of those small televisions like the people at game stop have so i could bring my 360 to work.

My GS isn't that high but I do spend allot of time playing. Having a full time job plus being a husband and father of three does tend to make it harder to find time. The only way I manage it is by sacrificing allot of sleep. I generally play from 9pm til 11:30-midnight every night...then get up at 5am for work.

I haven't done nothing with my life for the past almost 3 years and it took me since launch to reach 50K. Could of gone over 100k but I didn't want to choose that lol. Just makes me look like more of a bum than I am now. I seriously need to look for a job though haha.

Hell I'm in the same boat as you. I'm at work now also and I'm always skimming this site on ways to increase my GS, but I try to stay away from the utterly easy ones like sports games or ones like Avatar. I would prefer to get a higher GS off of games I actually wanted to play. Guess I'm wierd like that, but I'm borderline thinking of bringing my 360 here and playing on my break or whenever my co workers and I have nothing to do.:drunk

Well if your not already set up with it, you should try Gamefly out. I actually enjoyed some of the easy 1000 pointers like King Kong and TMNT. Wouldn't of tried them out if I wasn't set up on Gamefly. If it just wasn't so  expensive to rent games nowadays.

The trick for me at least is to have adhd (attention deficit hyper-activity dissorder) sprinkled with mild to moderate ocd and top it off with an addictive personality. In other words I have a severe gaming addiction. Once you are fully addicted to your console the rest is easy. Secure a job that supplies you with just enough money to get by and allows you to buy all your gaming supplies. Step two ignore everyone around you that isn't central to your gaming success but don't ignore them completely as you'll want people around to occassionaly help you boost on one of your multiple 360s. Maybe even find a significant other who will put up you that way you have someone to do your laundry and bring you food.
Once those things are in place simply just game yourself silly. There is always time to game and frankly the only time that matters is the time spent gaming.
Thats how I do it at least and its worked out pretty well so far.

If anything, I take one day in the week to devote to myself and that usually involves gaming. Gamerscore is cool and all but my grades are like my real life gamerscore haha. Work gets in the way but I do take time to relax after work with an arcade game every now and then. Take your time and enjoy your games.

Lol, thought the problem was not having enough time to game? Only problem of staying up till the early hours in the morning gaming is that fact you may end up messing up your sleeping pattern and then end up missing college, I'm guilty of that :)

Only thing we could do is hope we hit a jackpot in the casino or win the lottery... If I ever won one million or more, the first thing I would do is buy myself a car and then walk into GameStop and buy $5,000 or more worth of video games.

I'm in the same boat. My only free time is from 6pm till whenever I want to go to sleep. Seeing as how I need to wake up at 5am, Its usually till around 12am ish.
With very little time a high gamescore its out the question, so I rather go for 100% on high quality games.

I too have a job... The only reason I bothered point whoring a little the past couple of months is because a friend of mine would mention everytime he went up another 1000 points. I figured, "Why not shut him up and just pass him?" So I played some easy stuff to catch and pass him, he's still around 13k where as I'm at 17k. Not a huge lead, but it was fun to catch him (I was at 8500 when I started to try for points). In a way, I'd really like to go for something insanely high, like 100k but it'd take to long and there are alot of good games to play vs. the crappy stuff I'd have to play to get my score that high. Enjoy it for what it is people, a hobby.

Trying to balance real life and hobbies is always a fine line. Before I got married, I was into Lineage II in a big way (MMORPG). I was playing 50-60 hours per week on top of my 45+ hour a week job. When I got married, I cut back to about 20-30 hours a week, but it was still rough on my wife. LOL, she wouldn't call it Lineage...it was just 'That Damn Game.' As in, "Are you still playing That Damn Game?" or "When are you going to be off That Damn Game?" I wound up dropping Lineage, but I get bored easily. At one point, about three weeks ago, I had six (6) pay to play MMO accounts all active at the same time. I just unsubscribed to all of them when I got my XBox. Now I am spending more time with the family, taking online college courses, and sneaking in my XBox time when I can, but the college has to come first......................................usually .

Sleep sacrifice isn't a bad idea really. The body sleeps in 4 hour cycles, so if you need to be up by 8AM, then you can play until about 3:30AM giving yourself 30 minutes to fall asleep. As long as you don't wake up in the middle of a 4 hour cycle, you won't feel tired the next day. I've been doing this since I was 13, and it's allowed me tons of extra gaming time. Being only 17 now, still in school, and with a job every day after school, I usually only have time from 6:30PM until 2:30AM to play, but that's plenty of time in my book.

i've kind of been trying to do the same thing, but i've only got my cycle down to about 6 hours of sleep. if i sleep anything over 6.5 i'm extremely tired.

Yeah it's a proven thing that the human body sleeps in 4 hour REM cycles, so if you cut one in half it makes you really tired.

I'm a music major at the university I attend, and I really only get to paly on the weekends and most weeknights. Being a musician and all can really take away the hours that you want to spend on gaming. Reason that is, is because musicians primarily practice about 5 hours a day. So it can be tough on me and I cannot afford to sacrifice sleep, sleep is very essential to the body. I find it hard anyways to function with a lack of sleep.
But there will always be times where we can enjoy gaming and I think that is what matters most.

I take online classes for school and don't have a job currently. I'm employed, I just don't work, so I have plenty of time on my hands which usually results in playing. Sometimes I'll start midday and play till 6 in the morning, wake up and start over again, but that's really rare. Usually I'll play from anywhere from 6pm-3am.
