Maybe learn how to read? Biggie, Tupac, and Jay-Z all got named already. Not to mention I said Ghostface and GZA which pretty much implies Wu-Tang. If by new rap you mean the stuff on the radio then I agree. There are plenty of good rappers these days. You just have to dig a bit deeper than MTV.

4. Blackstar (Mos Def + Talib Kweli) - had to put them together because they are great by themselves but together they shine so brightly. Talib brings the raw flow and grimy lyrics to complement Mos Def's energy and crisp delivery perfectly.
5. Lupe Fiasco - Not for the weak minded, this man has something to say and says it so eloquently. Stop listening to Soulja Boy and tune into some real hip hop.

On another note, I just had to bring this up. I'm not saying that people can't have their opinions, but I simply don't see the appeal in Lil Wayne. For many years I have seen so many people (and Lil Wayne himself) claim him to be the best rapper alive. I was extremely puzzled by this because I had never even heard him rap about anything socially conscious or even put together a decently complex rhyme. After downloading a few albums and mixtapes, it seemed to me that he is just another worthless modern rapper. The topics of his raps are simply wealth, girls, guns, etc. Please, someone explain this to me.

Tech N9ne can be a little hard to follow sometimes but that's what I love about him. It's like I usually understand most of what he says but every time I listen to a song I get more of it. Theres been songs of his that I've listened to constantly and then months later catch something I didn't notice before and the whole thing falls into place. Tech is a pure genius just sometimes it takes a billion plays of a song to catch everything that's exploding out of his mouth. Tech is by far my favorite rapper, I think at least 2 gigs of my ipod space is taken up by Tech.

Haha you tell us who like Lil Wayne to get into "real Hip-Hop." Back in the day there was no hip-hop. BIG and 2Pac were rappers. Not hiphoppers(sp?). Even then, they were similar to Lil Wayne in most ways except themes in their lyrics, where Lil Wayne loses miserably. He raps about bitches and money while they rapped about life.
