problem recovering gamer tag

I have recently been at a mates i tryd to recover my gamertage through x box live it stoped half way through. I have tried to recover it for days at both my xbox and his and it has been saying x box live signup currently unavailable. it is like its stuck sumwhere on x box live, does anyone know what im talking about and plz help

The same thing happened to me i went over to a mates recovered my tag at his house and took 2 days to get it back at mine. I stopped half way through and said a message i can't remember. Tell your mate to delete your tag of his system unplug everything to do with your xbox and hope for the best. Most probably there just having problems and i highly doubt your account is lost :).

Live may still be having problems, therefore causing account recovering to be slow. Your account won't be deleted, don't worry.

yeah ive been trying to recover my account for like 4 hours and it keeps telling me that xbox live signup is unavailable its really starting to annoy me

I got back on live this morning i restarted recovering my tag and wam there is was all good now, thanks guys

I have noticed account recovery has been having problems quite a bit this month :( at one point I deleted my profile to recover for some reason, I had one at the time and in the end it just put me out of playing my 360 for 2-3 hours since got to get those points on my account ;)

Easiest thing to do is get a Memory Unit and keep your account on that if you plan on going to friends, etc.

Yeah, I tried recovering my account last night. With my connection it took about 2 hours to get somewhere around 75% and the stupid thing stopped.

I just needed my account so I could play Halo 3 without crapping all over my achievements but I think I'll just use my new Memory Card to go get the profile off of my sister's Elite because all I get now is a "Signup Is Currently Unavailable" message.

EDIT: Oh, it shows my account on my HDD but it won't allow me to sign in. It says that it wasn't fully recovered.

It will not work now if you go grab it from your Sister's Elite now either, will same account was recovered on another system, or something along those lines, You are just going to have to keep trying to recover which is a pain! :(

Yeah, I finally got it finished. Before I found that out the hard way. Thanks.

Luckily, it just finished the download from where it left off so it only took about a half hour rather than 2 hours. I also had this really strange glitch where I would select recover gamertag, and it would take me out of my current session. I would get the orange screen where it normally connects to Live before asking for your GT/Email and stuff... but it wouldn't load Live and it just sent me back to the dashboard.

I got it fixed by going into another profile that I used to use to play Arcade games and tried creating a Live account, exited when it loaded Live and asked for my info and then re-tried recovering. It worked but that was just messed up.

It worked but that was just messed up. Did you just go into the guide menu and sign out and then select account recovery? I'm having troubles with my account and I need some help..
