I haven't found any information saying which maps you have to download for which achievements, and since I'm most likely getting this for christmas I was wondering if anyone could tell me which maps to get.

There are only three achievements that require DLC, but there are other achievements that would be more interesting using DLC, and honestly... What are you thinking about? You're going to pick and choose which levels to get? Rubbish. They're not that freaking expensive. Get them all, all at once. It'll make everything much easier.
To answer your question: of the three DLC-exclusive achievements, two of them require that you play every single level in the entire game, including all seven downloads. The other one... I don't know how many DLC levels would be strictly *required* to get that one, but more is certainly better.
What I'm trying to say is don't be a cheapass. Cheapasses are annoying, and nobody likes giving advice to cheapasses on how they can continue being cheapasses.

I generally agree, with two exceptions. If you're only going to get one stage, I'd get High-Calorie Katamari, since that's the one I find most enjoyable out of all of them. Also, you might consider holding off on getting DLC until you complete the collection. Otherwise, it'll be harder for you to finish that one up.

I disagree about DLC making it harder to complete your collection for three major reasons. #1: All serious players have the DLC now, so if you want their help, you have to have your collection screens laid-out the same way theirs are, so you can tell them where your gaps are. #2: The DLC-exclusive items have their own seperate completion percentage, so downloading them doesn't suddenly push back your goal. #3: I put a lot of effort into completing my collection, and helping others finish theirs, so I am familiar with which items are rare in the standard levels, and I noticed that many of them are plentiful in the DLC, so they should be very helpful to people whose collections are near completion.

And you're ready to preemptively rule out the possibility that you'll figure it out easily by yourself? Does the game look like a big scary indecipherable mystery?
I'll put it in a brutally simple nutshell, and then to make fun of you, I'll repeat myself over and over in barely different ways. To get all the achievements, buy all the 7 levels, and nothing else. Nothing else. Just the levels. There are 7. You need them all. If you don't buy them all, then don't go crying to anybody about how you can't get such-and-such achievement. There are only seven levels, and they're only available separately. There are no bundles or "packs." Just read the damned achievement guide that's been compiled here on this message board.

The achievement guide has all the achievements broken up and explains what levels you need to download to get the extra 250 points.
