A Few Questions

Hey All,

Got a few questions;

One of the achievements is for only using Melee weapons the entire game, which is fine however on Level 4 the guys that move really fast scare me so i Tazer them to slow them down, but end of killing them - will this void the achievement?

Also if it does could i simply replay this Level later and do it without using the tazer? really wouldnt want to replay the whole game for the sake of 1 level.

I believe the achievement states that you can't fire any guns. Because If i recall right, I used the taser.

Even if it did void it, you can simply play that one level that you didnt get it on.

Killing them with the taser will rob you of the achievement. Use it sparingly on the big ugly ones, not the skinny emaciated looking ones. After you use it make sure they're still alive before killing them, if they die, reload checkpoint.

Ah good, is it only the Bird and Metal achievements that need to be done in order then? everything else can be achieved by replaying a level if needs be?

Hmm, is k_dog right in saying i can replay this level at a later point to get it? or am i best to just restart the chapter now?

And it's the only game to make me jump since System Shock 2 - truly the scariest game ever.

My experience is if you are going for the melee achievement reload right away. This will cause a little back tracking but not nearly as much as replaying the entire level over. BUT, you won't know for sure until you actually finish the level how you did, so you may end up replaying the level anyway.

Either way is fine, and the game is not so scary the second time through.

And BTW, I can only play a level every month or so as it takes me that long to pluck up the courage to go back in!

It's not a scary game as such but i kinda reaction tazered one of the crawly guys, made me jump.

Well it didnt give me anything :( 94.5% Melee Kill for that chapter, could i replay it later, or do i start from scratch (Game / Level)

I would replay the chapter now and then use that save game to 'continue' from - you risk not getting the 100% melee award if you don't.

The achievements are very touchy on this game and it seems to lose track of what you've done.

Like i say though, System Shock 2 :( Scary

Havent played this game after completing it fully with all achievements but seem to recall using the taser and still getting the melee acheivement... as long as you dont fire any firearms of course...

and yes, system shock 2 was superb, they really need to make a sequel :Bounce:

Yea I used Taser also, you can still get the achievement using Taser;)

The tazer instantly killed the enemies though - and the stats at the end said meelee kills like 80% or something, i use it to disarm, but there are a few smaller enemies where it kills them :)

Yes thats true... but if I recall, it doesnt matter if you take someone out with the taser... it affects the overal percentage melee kills, but not the achievement itself.

Taser doesnt count as melee.. it voids the achievement.. which is crap @_@

That's funny because I used the taser throughout the whole game the first time through and got the achievement at the end.

Odd, i used it on the first level and only melee weapons + taser and i didnt get the award... @_@

Helacool is correct. You can use taser and still get the melee achievement. This happened to me as well.
