can you get the online achievements with just a friend? and is it possible to use a second controller?

This should probably have been in achievement discussion... But the answer is, if it doesn't specifically say "in ranked matches" in ANY achievement for ANY game, generally you can boost in player. As for second controller, my guess is no. However this second controller trick works well for Gears and EDF 2017.
