I didn't mind the ending. Although Desmond's story is incomplete, Altair's story was fleshed out pretty well with the revelations and final confrontation at the end. I suppose you can't ask for anything too conclusive if they need material for a trilogy.

There is already a game in development called Prototype and it is NOT the sequel to Assassin's Creed, although the main characters resemble, it's not the same character, setting or story, and is being developed by Radical Entertainment and will be published by Sierra, not Ubisoft.

I thought the Ending was pretty decent with the whole "Vision" thing.
I at first was thrown off by the game being brought to the present day, but after competing it I think its a good addition. Still wished they would've kept it in 1191 A.D. only:)

Still I think a lot of games are just fobbing people off with endings at the moment, it seems almost inevitable that a sequel will be made so they just don't bother. Gits.

Ok, here's why I thought the ending was awful (then I will stop making pointless threads, although the rest of them had to do with achievements so I'm not sure how they were pointless).

You spend all this time in the storyline learning the "truth" about what is really going on, who the real bad guys are, etc. You finally get some info on what's going on in the "real world"...it looks like things are finally starting to happen (the modern Templars have found the locations of the artifacts, Desmond is probably going to be "dealt" with, etc.). Suddenly, "oh, we'll deal with YOU later! Ha ha!" Whoa-crazy visions stuff, the end. I understand it's supposed to be a trilogy. But even if you're making a movie trilogy, the movies themselves have to be able to stand on their own. The game just stopped. I felt like I had just spent all this time, and they just pulled the plug right when things were getting interesting.

But, I guess it's just me. Did I like the game? Honestly, no. I was constantly frustrated with the controls, the inane "content" which amounted to nothing more than collecting flags, and the terrible voice acting. I'm glad some people liked it, but for me, it was a waste of $70.

I think that the ending was great.

They completed Altair's story and you can read a short epilogue if you revisit Memory Block 7 - there is an attachment with a paragraph from Altair on what he did after Al Mualim was defeated. Then it proceeded to enter Desmond's story and shows that he has many unanswered questions and leaves the player with a feeling of suspense as to where it is going...

Yeah Altaïr's story is over. I'd assume that after he defeated Al Muhalim he would be finished as an assassin. He would then live out a normal life, get married and have children (thus making descendants). It's hinted at the end that the next AC might take place in ancient Japan (samurai/ninja perhaps?).
