I have 1000/1000 and done everything in the game, and you do NOT get a crossbow, period.

Why does it suck? The game is aiming to be realistic, and back in those days a crossbow took over a minute to reload. Would be a rubbish weapon, and not easily concealable.

Completely agree with you there, it would take the authenticity out of it which would be a shame considering how well this game has done to be realistic.

Even the small crossbow on his back in the opening game cinematics (before you press the start button) is bulky and would take long to reload. I wholeheartely agree with Ubisoft for not including the crossbow in the game.

This is actually the exact reason that they ditched the crossbow. It was in the initial design - you see it in the cut scene at the beginning of the game - but the slow reload time slowed the pace of the game down dramatically and they weren't willing to sacrifice authenticity and realism to speed it up. The compromise was the throwing knives, which I think worked out pretty well. Depending on where the next game is set, you might see a wider variety of long-range weapons, but they seemed pretty committed to making you get up close and personal to take people out in this one.

How real is it that knives spiral and never miss the target? There's always going to be a bit of unrealistic material, a crossbow would have been nice since it was in the trailer.

I don't think that the knives are spiraling. I think that they're spinning end-over-end. Clearly, a master assassin would never miss a target either. He's just that good.

True, but I like how throwing knives are really quick when you have rooftop goons shouting at you from across the street. :P

It would still be cool to have a ranged weapon like that, besides you know the guard would wait, pop one in the back and the other one would be like *gasp* theres an assassin nearby! or Who did this! *pop* 2 guards down, crossbow ftw~

I agree. The entire time I was playing the game I just wanted to do exactly what was in the cinematic. Even if it was a one shot deal I would have loved to use it at that part thats in the cutscene, because he also uses it as a melee weapon which I just think is amazing.

well yea i suppose it would have been an idea to be able to switch from knives to crossbow after you complete the game for some people...

A way to make it realistic is to have a bow (not a crossbow, I'll explain that in a sec) and to be able to use it by taking it from the bureau and being able to climb across the roofs with it, but it makes your target blink with a red dot if guards see you. If you're on a roof they attack you instantly. If you pull it out the guards attack you, and if you get attacked you drop it, no matter what. So that way you have to keep it until you need it. The reason why I say bow and not tiny crossbow is because any kind of crossbow would be expensive. A mini one would be incredibly expensive and you wouldn't want to stick it in some guards stomach and have to get a new one each mission (watch the video, he uses it to kill one of the guards). So a bow was a bent piece of wood with a string, a crossbow was a series of advanced cogs and bolts (for that time period.) So for such a complicated and annoying thing, knifes are better.

actually if you havent noticed in the trailer he not only uses to as a bow but he attacks people with the edges, with it being in the trailer there is no need to rule it out of part 2. Plus it takes long to reload in real life maybe 10 seconds tops, this is a game where u drop 50+ feet to safety ontop of Hay, not that realistic. They might drop the reload time to a mer 2-3 seconds for the fact that he is a master assassin. Who knows. :)

I agree. I love that the knives and short blade are linked, so you can attack someone with a shortblade, then take a split second to target someone a little further behind you with a knife for an auto-kill, then quickly get back to crossing blades with your primary target.

exactly. 1 knife 1 kill

a crossbow would be nice. And if people think this game is realistic, step back and look at the game! You jump over 50 feet into a 3 foot stack of hay, You jump over large streets and climb ridiculous heights!

An amazing game, but not realistic. A crossbow would be cool, but not concealable!
